Everything-- worst contractor ever worked with--lied/ poor workmanship-can not think why still in business

Signed with them on 4/24. It was installed and certified to function on 6/24. A power outage on 8/24 prompted it to activate for its first time. It failed to work properly and provided no electricity. This was verified by their own monitoring system. Their service tech came out to fix it and after 4 visits over the next 3 months he concluded there was nothing else he could do. The owner, Nathan, told us he couldn't afford to provide a new one but told us he would contact Kohler. Despite numerous attempts to contact Nathan to ask of his progress he does not return any calls nor does he answer his personal cell phone. In looking at the most recent reviews of others this lying and evasiveness is consistently their way of doing business. Avoid this company at all cost.

BUYER BEWARE! This is a bad company that should not be business. They do not do the work they promise. Very poor customer service. No return calls or emails. We signed a contract with them back in July 2024, paid a significant amount of money to only hear excuses from them on why they can't complete the work. Their office location is a sham. It does not exist. They have a cash flow issue so don't give them any money. They are poorly rated by the BBB with similar complaints.

We signed a contract back in April 2024 for a gas tank, gas line for a stove and generator installation. We were told by Nathan, one of the owners, in July that they had the gas permit but were waiting on the electrical permit. We made many more inquiries regarding status and then in mid-August we were unable to contact anyone at the company or get any responses to phone calls, texts or emails. We drove to the street address listed for the business and the space is empty. Turns out, there were never any active permits on our property and they lied about having the gas permit. We put down a $6000 deposit that we will now need to pursue legal action to attempt to recover, but we do not hold out much hope since the company and employees have seemingly disappeared. If I could give no stars, I would. Prior to signing our contract, this business had good reviews online. Were they all fake?

Excellent overall experience. Generator was installed flawlessly, and their team did a great job explaining how to use and monitor the system. Their timing was also excellent, our generator was installed the day before Hurricane Milton hit. Generator turned on and worked perfectly. Thank you, Nathan and your Team!

Absolutely the worst company I have ever dealt with. I've been waiting seven months for a generator. They put the gas line in and broke my line had a leak on the side of my house and was told it was no big deal. I had to hire the gas company to fix it. They broke my septic drain field. Had to pay to have that repaired also and I still don't have a generator.

Working with Generators by Design has been a complete disaster! We put half down on a generator over two years ago and still do not have it. Have been told by Nathan (one of the owners) since June, 2023 that it was in warehouse in Tampa and just waiting to get it shipped down to Naples. Now he does not return phone calls, text or emails. We will have to resort to legal action at this point to get them to finish our job or refund our deposit of over $15k.

I strongly suggest you look at other companies for your generator!
