We used Garcia & Son to install a new subpanel and a car charger on our very old (1914) home so that we could get an electric vehicle. We had an incredibly positive experience, end to end. Ed and his team were helpful in guiding us to making upgrades where we needed it but not doing more work than was required, and they were also flexible, as we changed a key element of the project part-way through, and they were able to accommodate. Three weeks after the work was completed, a few lights started flickering in our house so I called them and they sent someone out right away, who helped us understand that we had two faulty lightbulbs (doh! embarrassing!), which was super nice because they didn't charge us for the visit and it wasn't anything related to their work. Communication was prompt, professional, and responsive, and we felt like the work was priced competitively. We are very happy with the result and would definitely recommend them to anyone wanting to do electrical work on their home!

I need to update my review. There is no phone number to reach these people directly. On two separate occasions I've had to email the office manager and wait for her to see the email and have someone call me. The first time it did happen quite quickly. Each time, she was on vacation. This time PGE is working at our home and there is no means of reaching the electrician so PGE has a question and no answer. If you're going on vacation while your crews are working something other than an out of office reply is warranted.

Garcia and Sons just helped us with assessing the state of remaining knob and tube wiring in our 1919 home, and adding a variety of outlets and lighting, and a bathroom fan. We are about to begin kitchen and bathroom remodels and will definitely have them back for the electric tasks. As I noted in a thank you email to the company, their staff were ""friendly, flexible, professional, on-time, and very neat."" On the knob and tube issue - we spent $650 to confirm that we're in good shape with no changes needed. Another firm offered a bid of $40,000 to just replace it all - sight unseen.

We needed to update our out of code main panel and add electricity to a patio we were having built. Five different electricians told us five different things about the panel, but what Ed Garcia said made sense and we appreciated the way he talked with us about it. Ed spent extra care working with the patio designer and installation team to make sure the conduits were laid where he'd want them. When it came to the work, Ed himself came at the beginning and checked in during the work but the electricians on the job were spectacular. Work started on schedule and finished right on time, even with a little extra that came up. Everyone was vaccinated and everyone - including Marina in the office - was a joy to work with. I'll never hire anyone else again.

This was my second time using Garcia & Son (1st time was about 2 yrs ago) and my only regret is not posting a review the first time, because both times the work has been amazing!

Ryan and Josh showed up just minutes before the given 2-hour window for their arrival and finished within the 4hr total estimate with 20min to spare. Both were very polite, took appropriate dust and covid precautions, and did a bang up cleanup at the end. The job was to install two wall lights with a dimmer switch, but the job was complicated by the fact there was no preexisting wiring and my walls are plaster. Like I said before, everything turned out fantastic and they put the switch exactly where I thought it should go. Not only did they effectively cut into the lath and plaster, they did a great job patching it up! They were humble enough to say they did a rough job patching and that I could get a professional to clean it up, but honestly it's practically ready to paint.

Oh, and although there was understandably a holiday delay in initially scheduling the appt, I was pleasantly contacted by Marina yesterday asking if today would be possible! Amazing turnaround, amazing service (on a technical and customer service level)!

Garcia & Son will always be my first call for any electrical issue!

Didn't end up using Garcia & Son, but my experience working with the team was great. Team was articulate and professional unlike other Berkeley electricians I've rated.

This is the second time I selected Ed Garcia & Son, this time for adding a circuit and electrical outlets to my very old home. His crew came right on time and efficiently completed excellent work, at a very reasonable cost. They are trustworthy.

I don't think I've ever interacted with a higher quality, higher integrity business, of any kind. To think of the trouble I would have saved myself if I had just started with them.

Alas, I did not. I tried to save a buck by going with a poorly reviewed, sloppy nobody from Kensington. Before I knew it, he committed more code violations, and did more sloppy work than I ever would have thought possible.

I tried to get someone to take over the job. One guy pronounced it ""a nightmare"" and walked away.

Ed said, ""we like a challenge.""

Not only did they fix every little problem, Ed had the integrity to go ON RECORD and identify the many code and plan violations of his predecessor, which helped me save a little money. Most guys don't want to ""get involved,"" but Ed will call a spade a spade.

Get them if you can. Be aware that you will mostly be communicating through a dispatcher, but can get Ed for a conversation or email if needed. Good service does cost, but Ed is WORTH EVERY PENNY.

I really appreciated Ed Garcia's time and making sure he understood the scope of our small but important (to us) job. These guys are very responsive, caring and did good work. We appreciated the swift response and most importantly they solved our problem. Highly recommend.

I had a great experience with Garcia & Son. In an old house , there always seems to be something unexpected.
They handled the issue professionally. They followed through until it was completed and I can't ask for anything more. I'll use them again in the future
