So I went to Home Depot (3/11/17) to ask about the process to install a dishwasher and they gave me references to plumbers and electricians that they contract with (because I didn't have those connections already set up). Ford Electrical was not on my initial list of electricians but they reached out to me from the inquiry. Ken called and scheduled a Sunday appointment (3/12/17). When he arrived I explained that I had a list of projects we were interested in getting quotes for so we could prioritize them all. We walked through the residence and I explained each one. When we finished he said he'd email me a quote in a few days.

When I still had not seen an email by Saturday (3/18/17) I called their office and left a message. I got a text that afternoon saying their computer was broken and if they could fax me the quote on Monday (3/20/17 - over a week from the original appointment). I informed them I would get that to them Monday morning. Then when I gave them my fax number I was informed by the owner that Ken is not coming to work due to an injury, that he doesn't do work in the field anymore so he was going to decline my job(s). I texted him back clarifying why I was expecting a quote (so we could estimate costs to prioritize projects) and told him that if he didn't want my future business I would understand why he wouldn't want to give me a quote (he'd suggested he might be able to give it to me so I could use it for comparison). Long story short in our text thread, his final response was that with Ken out he needed to find another electrician and he was concerned he might not have a business in the future if he didn't hire someone to do the work. I basically got a ""sorry, thank you for your time"" and no quote.

I cannot state how much of a waste of time this was. Obviously Ken never provided his boss the quote info and no one was willing to say that they didn't have it for me. I guess my next step is to contact Home Depot to report this poor service and not ask them for recommendations for electricians in the future.

Ken was fantastic!

We recently purchased 4 new ceiling fans from Home Depot to put in all our rooms upstairs including our loft area, and Ford Electric was one of their preferred contractors they contract out.

Ben contacted us immediately after Home Depot sent our information to him to have him contact us. Ben is a former employee of Home Depot and we could have not been more impressed with the professional work his foreman Ken, did. One of Bens electricians by the name of Ken arrived right on time as promised to make the installations. He was extremely friendly, personable and professional from the beginning to the end. He did a fantastic, quick, yet efficient job at installing all the fans and they look absolutely gorgeous!

We are picking up some pendant lights to put in our kitchen bar area this weekend and will for sure be calling him to install them soon!

It seems hard to find professional, reliable, as well as friendly contractors these days; so if your in the east bay area looking for THAT contractor, look no further, Ford Electric is your place! We will be contacting Ben for all future electrical needs from here on. Thanks, Ben!

I had a fairly simple job, swapping out an old bathroom ventilation fan for a new one. The only reason I didn't do it myself was the fan size was bigger than the old old so it required an additional cutout. Ken came out and provided a quote that was significantly less than a local competitor (also listed on Yelp) so we scheduled a date before Christmas. When he got here he took care of the install of the new fan in less than 45 minutes and it looked like a perfect fit and working the same. Because it turned out to be a simple job he even gave me a discount to the original quote. Something one would like to expect but certainly wasn't required. I would recommend Ford Electric and consider them for future jobs.

Their electrician, Ken Swanson, is fabulous. Always shows-up right on time and knows his trade inside and out. I have had him install garage LEDs, ceiling fans, fix GFIs and rewire a botched electrical job in my yard (not low voltage). Highly recommended.

I hired Ken to do recess lights in my house. He gave me few recommendations and offered to come with me for purchasing materials. He gave me the best quote for the work and also then also helped me doing some other miscellaneous tasks. He was very professional and methodical in doing his job and it was done to my full satisfaction. He is recommended anytime for all kinds of electric work.

Hiring a reliable great contractor is not easy these days. Usually they are late or don't always do as they say they will do. Ford Electric is the exception. They removed my old box lighting in my kitchen and installed Canned lighting. They showed up on time, took care with my hardwood flooring and did an excellent job. I'm extremely happy and highly recommend them!!
