I needed someone to fix several broken outlets, install a new outlet, and modify the transfer panel for a generator -- about a day of work. The first electrician I contacted never responded once he found out what the work was. Foley was very professional and responsive by email.

GREAT company. Found them here on Yelp. I had a small job at my aunt's house (I called long distance). They called me right back, scheduled for the next week at my request, called to confirm a day before. Also called an hour before to let me know they were on the way to the house, which was great, as I was at the hospital with auntie at the time. On time, quickly and correctly done. AND a followup call to make sure everything was cool.

Like another reviewer said, I'd give them ten stars if I could.

I called Foley Electric based on these reviews on yelp - and they were quick to respond. I was impressed by how polite they were and in particular how they helped to find a less expensive solution on hardware that we needed to buy. They also were flexible on times to come and we worked together to find the right day as my schedule was complicated and they are very busy. I would definitely use them again and recommend them to others.

Quality, Reliability. Helpfulness; above and beyond. One evening well after business hours, I was standing in my house with my 3-month old baby with no heat and smelling burning electrical insulation. Minutes after leaving a message on the firm's emergency line worrying about the house burning down in an electrical fire, the head of the firm John phoned back. Then he called by personally to make sure we were ok. Any parents out there will understand the extreme relief of a quality, reliable and helpful person making sure everything is ok. Then he didn't charge me because he couldn't fix all the problem then and there - ""only"" make the house safe and the heat turned back on. He got his guys (also super nice) round and they fixed a whole host of problems at completely reasonable prices. They took care of permitting, being here for building inspectors, coordinating with roofers, drywallers, you name it, all part of the service. Talk about quality. I don't think I could possibly thank them enough for making the house safe for baby. Thank you John!

They were pretty quick to respond to our call but unable (or unwilling) to resolve either of the issues we called them for. Our spa had shorted the GFCI. They confirmed that but were not willing to look at the spa for the souce fo the short. (A spa repairman came later and did that in 5 minutes).

Then he looked at our ceiling fan which had just stopped working. He couldn't take the fixture apart just looking up at it and playing with the remote. He said I should just get a new one. Later, a handyman came and fixed it in 30 minutes.

He seemed satisfied to collect his service charge and didn't fix anything or professionally diagnose it. Then, we got their bill. I will pay the bill but I was not happy with the service or competence level and will not be using this firm again.

We had a great experience with Foley Electric. I finally created a profile here and Foley Electric is one of the local services that we'd definitely recommend to friends and family. My sister needed some electrical work done at an older home she bought in Redwood City last summer and we were not sure how extensive the house should be rewired. John came out to look things over, ensured safety throughout the house and followed up with an estimate. He provided a few different options to consider and was honest about what we did not need to have done. We were very happy with the quality of their work, time to complete the work and the honest and friendly service from everyone on their team.

I was skeptical at first when my landlord was going to send out his team of electricians because well let's face it, his handyman is really just an old drunk who really should be called the not so handyman. However, the moment John arrived from Foley Electric, I knew I had nothing to worry about. What a great guy! He was honest, kind and helped us solve a few of the electrical issues around the house. He even made a few requests to the landlord because of safety issues. After John and his team left, the house was fixed up (of course per the landlord's approval) and we went about our merrily way with new outlets in the bathroom and a water heater that won't be an electrical shock hazard anymore. John Philpott from Foley came by to give us a quote on a list of items we needed to have looked at/done for our 1980 townhouse. John was great, he helped us prioritize what we need to do now, what we should do and what we don't really need to do.
When the electrician came to do the work (I can't recall his name now) he showed up on time, did everything quickly and well, and left everything clean and working. All for a reasonable price.

Very happy with Foley Electric's work.

My only kitchen light fixture was out! I called Foley in the morning and spoke with a very friendly woman on the phone who assured a technician would call to make an appointment. Within the hour I received a call to schedule an appointment. By 2 pm, the electrician Earl was sent out. He replaced the broken part quickly and was extremely friendly! I am so happy to have light back in my kitchen and would definitely use and recommend Foley Electric for any electric needs.

I called Foley based on all these terrific reviews and I was really ready to like them: The electrician called me back right away, sounded very competent and confident and we scheduled a convenient time.

The time for the appointment came, but he didn't show up and he didn't call.

About an hour after the appointment was supposed to have started, I called the office and asked what I should expect. The woman was very nice and said she'd have to call me back--and she did, about an hour later to say that my appointment had somehow been deleted and that no one was available.

I had scheduled this work based on a deadline. It really needed to be done. The inconvience and additional expense this caused was signficant. From Foley there were lots of apologies, but no action.

I think all these reviews are probably right on--if you can get the electrician to actually show up.
