Came home from work this evening to a cold house, and with temps dipping into the 30s tonight, I called Five Star. We've been clients for seven years and would not use another provider HVAC. Tyler, on call tonight, arrived at my house tonight close to 10 pm and was so polite and helpful that it was like I was his first customer of the day. He got my auxiliary system working within minutes and left me with two space heaters just in case until another technician follows up in the morning. Tyler was thorough, patient, entirely professional, and downright interesting to chat with. Always satisfied with Five Star!

AVOID THIS COMPANY - BUYER BEWARE....BUYER BEWARE!!!!!!!!
I had a service contract with Five Star for five years (and I was OK with it) until I terminated it for a number of reasons - mostly because they completed an electrical inspection on my (new rental) house that was inspected by a home inspector not 6-months prior and they recommended the entire electrical panel be replaced!!! WHAT??. Complete BS.
Now- in my primary residence they installed a new hot water tank in Feb 2020 - the invoice shows the expansion tank is also covered under the 5-yr warranty (luckily I have the invoice as proof). A recent annual inspection from my new contractor showed the expansion tank is full of water and therefore is bad. I contacted Five Star and they agree over the phone the expansion tank is covered and will send out a plumber - they then miss the first appointment by a whole day! I make a phone call - the plumber shows up today.... this is where it gets real...
Five Star sends a tobacco-chewing menacing thug (my opinion) who argues with me that the expansion tank 1) nothing is wrong with it (BTW it's full of water) 2.) it's NOT under warranty and 3) the Five Star original invoice is NOT REAL ... and continues to argue with me, the CUSTOMER. I send him off the property only to receive an invoice via email ten minutes later for $357 to replace the tank. It's a $40 tank!!
DO THE RIGHT THING FIVE STAR AND HONOR YOUR CONTRACT.
Several calls between me and Five Star management ensue, meanwhile I guess the 'plumber' - who is in his van down the street - returns to my door as if nothing is wrong "" I am here to install your expansion tank"". Really -like I want you on my property.
My wife is terrified that this thug they sent may have been here and intimated her while I was not home.
To be fair - the manager called me and arranged for the expansion tank to be replaced under warranty - next month. Did they do the right thing? - only in the end but beware of these shite-hawkes and thugs coming into your home. FIND ANOTHER COMPANY TO DO BUSINESS WITH....

Got in touch quickly but would not give me an estimate even with the pictures I sent. Wanted to charge me a fee to come out and give me an estimate.

I was under contract with Five Star for approximately 20 years. They replaced a furnace and ductwork for me, and I never had any problems. They were attentive , and responded quickly and to my satisfaction. Recently, my pest control rep said that my condensation pump wasn't working, so I called them. When they arrived, there was both a serviceman and a salesperson in separate vehicles. After checking on the furnace for a while, they asked to enter my house, prepare an estimate, and discuss it with me. I agreed. What ensued was the salesman attempting to frighten me that my furnace was about to blow up my house and needed replacement immediately. He used major scare tactics and gave me prices that I needed to respond to within a week.
Due to my fears, I immediately contacted another source and learned that even though my furnace was 14 years old, it had a new motor (1 year old)
and probably had several years of service left in it. They had inserted a card into the fan and run the motor up to make the furnace produce more noise. I was very disappointed to have done business with them so long and not be able to trust them. At almost 80 years old, we should not have to abide companies using scare tactics to make a sale. I have terminated my relationship with Five Star and have found a dependable replacement that will treat me fairly. Be forewarned.

Rocky did a great job installing my natural gas line from my furnace to my natural gas grill. He showed up on time. Was friendly to talk to. Maybe a little pricey but you get what you pay for. Would recommend and will use them in the future.

Called for a leaky faucet, paid 69 dollars for dispatch fee and had the guy leave after telling me that it would cost upwards of 700 dollars to replace a faucet handle. Though the guy was nice and seemed to know what he was doing, I can't justify that price.

Five Star Plumbing provided some good work last year. I agreed to have them give me a checkup of my plumbing on March 15, 2021. Unfortunately, this was a completely unacceptable experience.
The plumber showed up in muddy books, and did not offer to wear a mask. The inspection was cursory at best, he did not even have a flashlight to look under sinks. He tried to sell a $3,000 water heater just because mine had exceeded its warranty.
The worst was checking the water pressure. I needed to replace the pressure adjustment valve for around $600 because the pressure was 100 PSI. First, the pressure was checked a year ago and was 50 PSI. I know failures do not have a schedule so I checked all three bibs in my house and the readings were from 49 to 54 PSI.
I guess this guy had this scam work before and thought I hadn't invested $10 for my own water pressure meters. Maybe it was the fact I am retiree. If this is not criminal it should be.

Terrible company that doesn't know what customer service looks like. Won't be using them any more because of being treated terribly by the service manager Tony. I've dealt with them before multiple times and because of the way I was treated will never use them again. Hung up on and wasn't transferred to his manager unbelievable how companies just don't get what customer service looks like. Stay away there are better companies out there.

We were told the repair guy would be here between 8 and 9am, showed up at 930am. Then had to Google the name of our tankless water heater to get info on it. Then spent pretty much the next 2 hours on the phone with the manufacturer's Tech support, so pretty obvious he had no clue what to do. When I mentioned maybe we needed a more exp. tech to help us, he claims he ""installs these all the time."" Then without using a manometer to test gas flow levels, without cleaning the ignitor rod, he finally gets off the phone and then tells me we need a new ignitor unit even though he ran no tests. Then tells me its going to cost $350! To install a $9 part that simply snaps in right in the front?! I called Noritz's tech support myself and they had their entire conversation noted. Five Star's guy was given all the steps, which he didn't do, but jumped ahead to the end when he was told ""when all else fails, it may be the ignitor."" He also told us our 12 year old unit was on its last legs and he was surprised it lasted this long - the Noritz tech guy laughed and said their units last 20+ years easy, much longer than the larger tank water heaters. The Five Star guy just BS'd me all morning, what a waste of my day. Ordered the part ourselves and Noritz said to call them back, that they'd be happy to walk us through it.
Our neighbors told is they get regular maintenance done for $150 or so each year
The Five Star guy told us if we paid the $350 for the install, he do the maintenance for ""free, which would save us $450.""
Needless to say, we do NOT recommend this company at all....what a train wreck.

They showed up wearing masks which I considered very considerate. they showed up right on time and were very courteous and professional. Answered all questions and completed repairs. I highly recommend.
