We have been long time customers of 5* (12+yrs). 10+ years ago we bought a new HVAC system from them. The salesman didn't truly listen to me about my allergies. The new system didn't do the job so we must double filter, which voids the warranty. At first we had 1 tech for several years. After he became ill and passed away we now never know who we are going to get. Paul V. was an hour+ later than he said with no apology or phone call to let us know. Last year our tech said a part was reading a bit low in our air conditioner. This year Paul (different tech) said everything was fine = now who do we believe? This has been a good company in the past, but I would like the same tech for several years. Overall we have been happy, but it has not been a perfect experience, by any means.

Paul c from five star plumbing heating and cooling fished my earring out of bathroom drain today. He was here promptly from original call, efficiently did the job, explained five stars other programs, charged a nominal fee for the work done. Turned out the plumbing under the sink had been glued so it wasn't easy. We will request Paul if we need plumbing help in the future!

1 hour & 20 minutes labor to diagnose and repair. $30 in parts. Charge $450. You be the judge. I won't be fooled again.

Very nice, professional and prompt technicians but ridiculously expensive.

5 star has the most knowledgeable and courteous associates you could ever want to invite into your home for service. They are timely and polite. We have used them for electrical, plumbing and we also had them install a new heating system. You could not ask for better. They let you know exactly when they will be there and keep that appointment.

I had a pop-off valve leaking by. Had Five Star come out and Paul gave me an estiimate to replace pop-off valve. Said he would reroute my drain line for free. Yeah, right. The pop-off valve was 451.00 and he tok more copper pipe than he replaced. I WAS THE FOOL! His other option was over 1,000.00. Never again!!!

Pop-off valves are between 20.00-30.00.

For AC/Heating repair you can't find a higher price. The prices are set in tiers and start around $400 for the simplest repair, like cleaning a filter. However, the dispatch/phone service and timeliness is among the best in the business.

My experience is eerily similar to many of the others posted (check out the hidden reviews in the 'not recommended' section when you scroll down). (May be a way to hide those). The first thing the guy did was hand out a leaflet trying to sell a service. I should have stopped him right there and said, wait, are you a REPAIRMAN or a SALESMAN? So, going forward with anyone I have come ""service"" anything at my home, I will make sure when I call for the appointment to tell them, do not send me a salesman, I want a repairman. Also, I recently logged on to ANGIES LIST and I would recommend anyone spend $30 to join so you can GET YOUR EYES FULL of the bad reviews for this company. Seems like a script of what they say to everyone. The scare tactics, trying to sell something you know you don't need and also picking out what everyone else before them did wrong. These folks seem to think people are clueless but folks are smarter than you give them credit for. Watch also when you call for the appointment the young lady will say the $69 service call will be taken off any work you have done but when he got to my home I was told ""The $69 just gets me to your door"". So strike number 2. The ""repairman"" barely got his hands dirty at all an gave me a weird look when I said lets pop off the cover of the unit and take a look. It was clear he was there to replace the whole system and sell me upwards of a $16k unit. You have to think too when folks come into your home, they look at how nice the inside of your home is, how its furnished, electronics and things and they start calculating what they will charge you. Scary. I also notice on these reviews these guys always come back with rebuttals and honestly, some are very insulting back to their customers like (I'm sorry you didn't have the money to feel like you need to make repairs, type comments). But not one of the rebuttals was to say they would retrain the ""repairman"" to change his approach. YOUR ""REPAIRMEN"" NEED TO ACT LIKE REPAIRMEN AND NOT SALESMEN. So bottom line is, if you want an actual repairman, call someone else. Was a waste of time for me. I will always take time to take care of my home but folks time is money. I let them have the $69 but was a good eye opener for me. Luckily that's all it cost me. I'm sure this guy will come back with comments on my review. Seems like he should spend more time correcting the problems his customers are having instead of adding insults to the reviews. This was my personal experience and I never post anything that is not true. Always do your research before calling for service no matter how honest anyone seems. Lesson learned here. Buyer beware.

I had this company came out to service my two units, one of which I was having problems. They were on time with their appt. The technician stated that I had a leak with my evaporator coils and that they needed replacing for about $2,000. and Since my unit was about 12 years old, he recommended replacement of the entire unit at somewhere around $6,000. I told I would discuss it with my wife.

I had a second opinion and they verified that the coils were fine and that I had a leak elsewhere which he fixed and charged my system. All this for 20% of what Five Star wanted to charge. I do not know where the breakdown was but i will not be calling Five Star again, I cannot afford them.

My experience with Five Star was beyond poor. They misdiagnosed my problem (intentionally or flippantly does not matter), lied about the repairs, then engaged in pressure tactics to get me to work with them.

I had another technician come out and do the job for $370 when Five Star quoted $10,200. This is not the kind of company you can trust.
