Troy was one of the subcontractors working on our recent whole home remodel. He handled all of the electrical work, which was substantial. Since we have solar panels and storage battery, we decided to get all new electric appliances (including HVAC and hybrid water heater) -- no gas. The existing master service panel (MSP) was not sufficient and needed to be upgraded. He worked with PG&E to find a way to do so without running in a larger feed from the street, which would have been extremely expensive. He and his assistants worked efficiently and provided a lot of helpful suggestions and advice. He is very intent on making sure the customer is happy and gets the best solutions to fit their needs. He even ran in a few extra wires during the pre-wiring phase, to set us up for additional things we might want or need in the future (such as outdoor landscape lighting, extra lights in the attic, etc.) at no extra charge. I will also mention that the general contractor on our project was fantastic and all of his subcontractors, including Troy, were extremely high-caliber and did top-quality work. The fact that they use Farrington Electric speaks volumes and ensures that they maintain their excellent reputation.

Farrington Electric ran electricity (including trenching) in my backyard so I can add a hot tub. They also cleaned up some existing older electrical work. Farrington was fast with a detailed estimate and was able to complete the work quickly. I had a challenging time finding an electrician for this project and am thrilled than Farrington delivered the work professionally and with a fair price. My home is an older Willow Glen home and so these types of projects generally uncover more surprises than in newer construction. Troy was great at explaining and offering options. Very professional. I will call again for future projects.

I recently had Troy upgrade my electric panels due to a botched system with my solar installation. He upgraded the panels, was more than fair in price, punctual and all round nice guy. Explained in detail what needed to be done and did it in a professional manner and on time and budget!! I recently had another immediate need, he picked up the phone (even that's a miracle with contractors these days) and had the job scheduled within 24 hours and reported back after the onsite visit (it is a rental). I highly recommend Troy for all your electric needs, simply the best!!

I was referred to see Troy through a local general contractor who did not feel comfortable working on the intricate electrical wiring concerns in my residence. Troy immediately addressed what was going on within 10 minutes of arriving, and was clear in his explanations of what was going on. The work was completed ahead of schedule, without any issues. I came across Farrington Electric via simple online search. I preferred a company outside of the bay area as most local companies are expensive. Troy is a legit honest, professional knowledgeable guy. He does not nickle and dime, he is reasonable and efficient. He explained and gave me all the options. We had a service change in our old home and we hired him for other electrical upgrades/changes later.

We hired Farrington Electric to install a bunch of Can Lights in our living room and kitchen. They also replaced our main panel for the house. We felt Troy did a great job and cleaned up everyday after the work was done. He showed up when he said he would and there were no unforeseen costs. Once he was done with our panel, we decided to have him install outdoor and garden lights. They look awesome. We will hire Troy and Farrington Electric again.

We hired Farrington Electric to upgrade our home's service panel from an antique, Frankenstein switch and a spiderweb of hell in the basement. Troy found many fire hazards waiting to happen and corrected them. After 3 days it looked like a new home.

Super professional and very clear and well spoken. Troy is a very dependable and professional electrician. After our experience with him I would certainly refer him to others.

This contractor did extremely poor quality work, including many code violations and generally sloppy practice. The modus operandi was to show up for a short time each day and leave the work to untrained or nearly-untrained helpers, while Troy was somewhere else. There was a consistent pattern of ignoring code requirements (i.e. using the wrong gauge of wire, using aluminum internal runs instead of the required copper) and shortcuts that gave almost no time or cost advantage but led to code violations or messy work.

My attic was left strewn with wire everywhere, my kitchen switches miswired, my ovens connected with wire of insufficient gauge to support it, etc. In the end, I spent nearly $1200 to have these defects fixed. I thought it reasonable to ask Troy to reimburse me for half the amount, and I'd eat the other half. The fact that I'm writing this review should tell you about his response.

Pleasant enough guy. Find somebody else to do your electrical work, though.

I have no reason to ever talk to Farrington Electric again, I have nothing to gain by writing this review. I had frankly put it out of my mind, but more than a year later, Troy felt he had to bring it up again. All I know is that I'm out a lot of money to get this ""work"" fixed. Some contractors would care about their customers' opinions, but this is Troy. Everybody else, make up your own minds.

I hired Farrington Electric to install 3 fans in my house this week.

The work was done on time and at a fair price. Troy was courteous, clean and careful as he worked around my belongings.

We now have beautiful light and circulation in our home and I will recommend Troy Farrington to anyone looking for quality electrical work in the south bay.
