We had multiple companies come through to give us quotes for a new HVAC system in our home. No other company gave us as complete an idea as to what our installation would entail. We decided on Family Air, and they came out and took care of the install, taking two days to complete the install.

Curtis, Lee and the team took out the old furnace and ducting and prepped the attic for the new furnace. They installed the power and AC, ran the lines and took care of everything else. Gerry was great to deal with as he managed the process.

I can not recommend Family Air enough. If you are in Simi, you can't go wrong with Family Air!

We have the original builder grade AC/Furnace units that were installed with the home 20 years ago. These have struggled over the past 2 years to keep up with the summer heat and our AC bills have been quite high due to the loss of efficiency. Nonetheless we have kept these units operational. During routine seasonal maintenance on our 2 original AC units last month, we discovered a catastrophic issue with our upstairs AC and confirmed significant loss of function with the downstairs AC. Not naming names, but we had both of the bigger HVAC service providers come to troubleshoot and diagnose the issues, both indicating it was time for replacement. I felt the potential hole in my pocket thinking about a full replacement of both units (including furnaces which were functional but mismatched to any appropriate AC equipment being offered today).
We had both of the big service providers in Thousand Oaks draw up estimates for solid Trane equipment and both providers were in the $20K range!
Thanks to the kind recommendations on NextDoor, I called Jerry at Family Air in Simi Valley. Jerry was so easy and straight forward to deal with. His approach to putting together a bid was completely different from the others. He didn't want to talk budget at all, he just wanted to assess the house and determine the best equipment for the job. He came by, looked at the set-up, did his calculations and sent me a very professional and detailed bid. The price for a BETTER set-up than I was previously offered was HALF of what the other guys offered. I didn't even discuss price with Jerry, his bid was the best outcome we could hope for. Did he cut corners to arrive at this price? NO. Just the opposite. The install he bid was permitted, inspected, and certified as compliant with current efficiency standards (called HERS testing) and included really nice equipment add-ons like high grade filtration and UV sanitizer.
Prior to installation with Family Air, I invited one of the other providers validate just how competitive Family Air pricing was. Without letting them know I had a competing bid, I asked them to bring thier $20k bid to 20% MORE than what Family Air was asking. They completely balked and refused. I then told them that I had a bid from another provider (no names mentioned) that was below what I asked them to come down to. He then proceeded to bad mouth the quality of the other bid without knowing the details. They said, ""that must not be permitted"" ""that can't include HERS testing"" ""they must be a 1 truck Chuck operation"" etc etc... while storming out of my house... this validated just how competitive Jerry and Family Air are.
Come installation day, Family Air was extremely professional, courteous, and efficient. They removed the old equipment, and performed an exceptionally clean install in the garage and in the attic. The outdoor condensers also looked GREAT and were quiet! Family Air deal Carrier brand equipment which is TOP QUALITY stuff. The HERS inspection passed without an issue and the permit/inspection process also went well. The AC and the heat output is amazing compared to the previous units and cost so much less to run! All-in-All, I honestly feel lucky to have found Jerry and the professional crew at Family Air. They saved my summer, my wallet, and delivered a significant upgrade to my house that we will comfortably enjoy for years to come. Given that many of us in the community are running into end of life issues with our 20 year old original equipment, I can honestly say, you would be well served by talking with Jerry when your time comes. Our home was.

Great company! Saved us tons of money!! Read this whole review if you want a legit company to help! Great people that care more about taking people vs overcharging! Spoke with a really nice lady and made me an appointment for next day. Lee showed up. Great guy! Diagnosed the problem even with me looking over his shoulder asking questions the whole time. Figured out what 3 different electricians couldn't!! Helped re-wire and add a fuse to our existing system. Had it running 100% really quick. Even checked our filters and coolant. $150 vs what an electrician quoted $3000! Seriously!!! Thanks Fam!! If we ever have issues again you've got our business!!

Best AC Contractor experience with installing a complete AC System! I found Family Air through Yelp and decided to obtain a competing quote. Jerry visited, explained what would be done and gave the most professional quote package I've see from an AC contractor. And not only that... they beat all other quotes I received by a mile as per the experience of others.

Despite the time it took for our HOA to approve the work, Jerry, Curtis and Team were patient. Once I got approval, they responded immediately with an installation date within the next couple of weeks. Curtis and team arrived promptly (even ahead of schedule) everyday and accomplished the work quickly, efficiently and with good care. The job at my residence was even more difficult due to a split attic, which made the duct work more complex than normal. On the previous system, the installers connected the low voltage wiring to the outside AC unit by routing conduit all around the house, which was unsightly. Per my request, Curtis and team were able to reroute the low voltage through the attic and even demolished the unsightly conduit around the house. They even removed old unsightly satellite cables running around the conduit.

I also opted for HERS testing and a city permit. Their work passed the first time with flying colors and the entire job was completed per the schedule that Jerry indicated.

I compared several companies to install our central air. We had some serious electrical issues that needed to be addressed, and a few extra bathrooms vents that complicated our requests for work done.

Family Air was quick to respond, looked at our house, and presented us with details of every step of the process.

The blower was turning off and on during a heating cycle. I had been taken advantage of by an HVAC guy in the past. I hesitantly called Family Air. The tech came out. Diagnosed the problem. Told me it was a loose wire. They could have said anything and they didn't. What do I know. The tech tightened the loose wire, charged me the visit fee and was on his way. And he was friendly. If you've been wounded by HVAC guys, this might be therapeutic for you. The problem was resolved.
