We just moved into a new home where the builders had told us the wiring for the EV charger was done, but we would still need to have a Tesla specific charger installed.

I scheduled a consult with Paul via email - he was very quick to respond and we were able to schedule something quickly, even though he is quite busy, he really tried to work around our schedule.

Paul was on time to the appointment (even early), and he took a look at our EV plug and said basically it was ready to go and no work was needed - we could use our Tesla adapter for it. He even checked the wiring to make sure everything was good, and gave us tips regarding the EV rate to help with our electric bill.

We felt bad for having wasted his time, but he was so incredibly friendly and nice about it, and all-around very professional and knowledgeable.

We needed a 240 volt NEMA 14-50 outlet installed in the garage because we are taking delivery of a new electric car in the coming weeks. Paul was recommended to us by the manufacturer, so we contacted him by email and got an almost immediate reply. Turned out he was able to visit our house that very day and give us an estimate. He handled the permitting and arranged the inspection, and in two weeks we had a legal working outlet to charge our car. Turned out that the existing copper wire to the electric panel couldn't handle the load increase, so he pulled new wire that could - at no extra charge. Everything went smoothly and with no hassle. Paul and his crew were terrific in helping us figure out the configuration we needed, and efficient during the installation. Unfortunately the charger we were supplied (directly from Tesla, not through him) had a glitch and went out six months later. But Paul was out the very next day to fix the problem, arranged for free replacement from Tesla, and had the problem resolved completely within 48 hours. Wonderful service and utter professionalism!

Before I hired Nijssen Electric to install our new ClipperCreek LCS-20 EV charging station, I read the installation instructions as well the advice of other homeowners. I provided them with detailed specifications. One of my requirements was that the wiring should support a 40 amp circuit in case we bought an EV that could use more juice in the future. Nijssen quoted 6-gauge copper wire - enough for 100 amps over the 35-foot circuit. I choose Nijssen because their bid met or exceeded all of my itemized requirements and promised to satisfy the Albany Building Inspector for a reasonable price. And Paul Nijssen is a big lovable bear of man with a good sense of humor. It was difficult to keep my game face on while interviewing him.

The biggest challenge was to get the new circuit from the main panel through my home office ceiling to the garage so that the LCS-20 could be mounted outside. The best route required the conduit to exit the main panel from below, pass over a downspout above a door and pierce the stucco exactly at the inside edge of the ceiling joists. I imagined there would be some very unsightly conduit on the north wall of our house and that it would take at least a day to fabricate and install. Nijssen figured out a easier path and had the job done in a couple of hours. When an obstacle was encountered, Nijssen quickly found a workaround.

The installation diagrams showed a junction box between the charger its circuit. We did not want the junction box mounted on the outside was of the house. But, mounting it inside meant that conduit had to pierce the wall. It looked tricky to me, but Nijssen made short work of that also by using some flex conduit and piercing the wall directly behind the junction box.

Our Chevy Volt was charging on our new 240 volt circuit by the time he left the first day. But, there were a few odds and ends to finish. So, rather than make me worry if they were ever coming back, they deferred payment until they could finish. Classy.

In short, we couldn't be happier with the way Nijssen treated us, responding to our needs and the workmanship that was performed. That is why I give them my highest recommendation.

Paul installed the outlet for our new EV the day after Thanksgiving. Very nice guy. Good work (including clean up). It was a simple process - he responded promptly to my initial email, came the next day and gave an estimate, and then did the installation a short time later when we got our car. Paul did a fantastic job and exceeded expectations in every way. He first said he would be by for a site visit on a Sunday morning and then surprised me by having his truck and doing the work right there on the spot. An hour letter my tesla is charging at 29 miles per hour versus poking along on a 110V at 4 mph. Paul was fast, high quality and reasonably priced. Highly recommended!!!!
