Honestly what a major disappointment. We recently moved into our new place and wanted to check on the AC bc I immediately recognized some inefficiencies with the cooling system. In this atlanta heat - it was very uncomfortable so I asked management of my building for a hvac recommendation and I got Estes. First of all, the initial gentleman didn't even arrive until 4 hours after I began expecting him. Once he got here it was clear that he was unenthusiastic about being here and wanted to just rush through it. I had to tell him about some building policies when it comes to vendors but he kept interrupting me and being rude overall. He then came to my house to check the ac systems and said nothing was wrong in the unit and it's probably an issue with the corresponding unit on the roof which is something I already knew and had communicated to him about. I then put the owner of the house on the phone since they were helping facilitate the process(I am a renter) and the gentleman was rude for absolutely no reason. Simple questions about policy and where we fell in the repair process were met with so much snark and attitude I didn't know if I was talking to a professional or a child tasked to do something he didn't want to do. After standing in my building for 15 minutes (5 of which were in my actual house) he tells me nothing is wrong and charges 90 dollars? IN WHAT WORLD DOES THAT MAKE SENSE? He then quotes me for 354 dollar to come in the next day to work on the rooftop unit which is an insane price - ridiculous. It was clear to me that he was trying to take advantage of the fact that I am a woman and whatever fucking stereotype he has in his head. My house AC is fine bc I had personally repaired it. I told him the issue was on the roof but he insisted on checking my apartment for anything wrong and when he found nothing was wrong he still charged me. A money grubbing business like this which is dishonest and takes advantage of their is not worth anyones time and this was just day 1.
The next day the two techs come in to work on the roof unit and tell me that they're only here to find it. WHY ISNT THIS COMMUNICATED? WHATS IS WRONG WITH THIS VENDORS COMMUNICATION POLICY? AT THIS POINT I WOULDVE JUST FOUND IT MYSELF? Anyways they find my unit within 5 minutes and tell me they need to change a capacitor and charge an additional 241 dollars. So far it's 90+354+241 = 685 dollars for something which is a 150 dollar fix. Absolutely fucking insane they can say these to me with a straight face. I even LAUGHED bc how fucking ridiculous is it to charge for a fucking capacitor? For my ac unit the average capacitor costs 40 dollars LMFAO ARE THEH FR??? They went ahead and changed it and I had to pay the whole price at the end of the day. Throughout the appointment I also got the sense they were hitting on me (I'm a girl living alone in my place) and I was absolutely uncomfortable and even insisted on walking behind them bc I was so suspicious. I asked to accompany them to the roof so I could check out the unit myself and mark it for future reference and on the way there odd comments about being picked up like a child and shit like that were made. I laughed in the moment but I thought it was extremely unprofessional and made me very uncomfortable. At the end of the day my ac began working again but at the severe cost of my wallet, sense of security, and the severe disrespect I faced as a customer.
I sincerely urge anyone who is looking for someone to repair their heating/cooling that you look somewhere else. I am absolutely disgusted and horrified that this service can even exist. If you need so many appointments, individuals, time, and money to fix something so simple I sincerely urge them to reevaluate their actual skills and become more Honest in their advertising. Amateurish skill is not worth wasting your money on. Please let me be the last person to have to use this shitty service. Despite the two gentlemen who came on day 2 being nicer than the man on day 1 - the inefficiency and absolute discourtesy I witnessed does not even justify the existence of such a service. Services such as what this one advertises itself to be are made to help ppl, settle their unease, and help fix the specific problems theyre facing. I paid 700$ for a 40$ capacitor to be installed on my roof all the while making me cancel plans, Take off work, and burden me with so much extra stress I actually witnessed my first Gray hair at the age of 20! (I wish this was a joke)
Unprofessional. Inept. And a fucking waste of time.
Do not employ this service.

i have used this company for years for routine maintenance. They ALWAYS find something wrong to charge for more and more services. They made an error in billing for a service in December and are now telling me that my account is 60 days past due (although they never billed me). They have lousy customer relations. Would not recommend. I have severed my relationship with them.

We had a problem with our water heater. We set an appointment over the phone. The technician was scheduled for the next day. Estes arrived, assessed the situation, and explained us exactly what needed to be done; and gave us an estimate. We solved the problem the same day!

Annoyed! Requested a tech to install a gas dryer for me. There is gas to the house already, to the cooktop and furnace. He said over the phone that he didn't think it could be done if no place already behind the dryer but gave no real reason why. Came in looked for 5 to 7 minutes, said ""no"" (gas line is in the wall, right behind the laundry room), said to do it would be $1800 at least. And if the gasline in the wall were tapped it would starve the furnace in Winter. Added he already knew this BEFORE he came because he does work in this community ALL THE TIME. Why not say that, up front, instead of showing up and charging me? I won't be calling Estes again. Just complained directly to them and they are refunding the service call charge. But why do it in the first place???

I had a Huge emergency with my kitchen sink overflowing ALL OVER- the countertops and the floor (!!). It seemed to come out of nowhere and of course it happened at 10pm on a Saturday. The first company I called was one that I had used in the past. They said they would be out that night, but I ended up getting the runaround well into Sunday. After calling 2 other places, I finally called Estes. It was after hours, but they got back to me and they Showed Up. I know it cost a little more with it being after hours, but it was an emergency and I didn't mind paying extra as long as I could get it done that day. And it was. The technician who came out was well prepared, knowledgeable, personable and very professional. I didn't get his name and I wish I had because that man Saved the day!! Thank you!!!!!!

Dishonest, not forthright! I had an appointment. They were a no-show. Then lied saying they had come (three hours prior to my scheduled appointment), but because I wasn't home, they left. They insisted they had come to the correct address. He was not telling the truth!
He was caught in his lie. There is no way he he even showed up. You see, I live in a very secure condo building where all vendors are photographed, must show ID and are registered. They must go thru at least three security checkpoints; one to drive onto the premises, another to enter the building and a third to be escorted to my unit by a security guard. My condo security did not have any record of Estes plumbing or any vendors that came for me that day.
If they can lie about keeping an appointment, I question their integrity and ability to honestly perform their work and their billing practices!

DO NOT HIRE ESTES!!!!
If I could give them negative stars, I would......
I have used Estes for both plumbing and HVAC for a number of years. While they have always sent over very nice, professional service technicians, they must have them on commission, as they never leave a maintenance call without saying that I absolutely need to buy something....so much so that I now greet them at the door telling them to not upsell me.
They replaced one of my HVAC systems 9 months ago. It is now working improperly, and I was told that it was the fault of something that they did not install.......however, I was told I was getting a 'brand new system.....total and complete.' Now, they will charge a massive amount to simply get the system they installed operating properly. I asked the manager to do it at cost....removing any profit. His response? ""Not my fault"".......what?
The plumbing side is even worse. My service contract expires next month. Goodbye, Estes. DO NOT HIRE THESE GUYS!!!

Tech was dry and unpleasant. He seemed to make an effort to be unfriendly and didn't make any alternative solutions. It was worth paying 59 dollars to get the Tech off my property. Called another company and received a quote which was 70 percent less than Estes. The new company fixed my issue within 2 hours after my initial encounter with Estes.

Called them to unclog my kitchen drain on 5/29/20 and almost 27 days later in started stopping up again I was charged $362 the first time and they wanted to charge me again, no they didn't do a good job the first time and refuse to look into it. The manager Bill Knox was not helpful and did nothing to help the problem, for that price something should be done!

I called Estes and other plumbers beforehand to price shop. I specifically asked the person at Estes who answered the phone how much it would cost to do a diagnosis that would likely require cutting through drywall. She said $59 for them to show up plus potentially more for cutting the drywall--she wasn't sure. I asked her if there was any more specific pricing information she could give that would shed light on whether they would charge more to cut through the drywall, and she said no.
The plumber then came and within 1 minute of looking at the sink said it would cost me an extra to cut through the drywall because the second they have to ""get out the tool box"" to do a diagnosis, the pricing goes up. I told him I had asked the woman on the phone for that information, and she didn't disclose it. He said, ""it's not her job.""
But it is. If the company knows of a specific price rule, I ask for it, and they don't disclose it by phone, they prevent consumers from price-shopping and waste everyone's time. Estes should tell the people who answer the phone that if a plumber has to ""break open the toolbox,"" more money will be added to the initial $59 initial fee, and none of that initial $59 will be applied toward the fee for cutting the drywall (which is not true of other plumbers). This is material information that matters to consumers, and consumers and plumbers shouldn't have to sort this out with each other on-site during coronavirus. This could've been disclosed in a pre-visit phone call. All it required her to say is ""once they break out the toolbox, an extra fee kicks in."" It would have saved both me and the plumber wasted time.
The plumber was kind enough to waive the $59 fee, but everyone would've been better off had the person who picked up the phone been given the information she needed to adequately inform me.
