Julee D.I just got my AC/Heat Pump unit installed this morning. I cannot say enough good things about the people and service. Over the past few months, I got a number of widely ranging quotes on my unit replacement because it would likely require a crane. I live in a three story condo building where my heat pump is on the roof. It was a fairly big job from replacing the unit on my roof to replacing the air unit in my closet to adding a digital thermostat.
Chase came over a week ago to give me a quote. He spent a good deal of time assessing the situation, listening to my questions/concerns, and giving me a few different options. He was the only salesperson who offered a solution without requiring a crane and assured me that it would be done safely and properly. Since he was able to do it without a crane and offered a discount for me paying for it on the day of installation and not financing it and even offered a one year free maintenance afterwards, I ultimately went with Estes. Added bonus, he was able to schedule the job on a Saturday morning which was ideal for me since I didn't have to take off from work! Chase's quote was not the cheapest I felt it was the most fair and reasonable given the extent of the job, quality of the equipment, and service provided. Personally I would never just pick the cheapest quote for such an important installation.
This morning I was a little concerned about the rain and the installation on the roof. Everything turned out great. It took Donald, Tyler, and Mason about 5-6 hours to fully complete the job. They were thorough, professional, and easy to talk to about any questions I had. Yes they take credit cards. This has been by far my best experience with a service provider in my home. Highly recommend these guys!!!
My furnace works fine with the new control panel. Took 4 days to relieve the part ( tech didn't have the part on his truck either) the part was ordered from Rheem /Ruud OEM. The only thing I can say that's positive is that the control panel was the problem. And if you have to mark up your parts and labor $600 for. $110 part that takes 30 min to install you need to reduce your overhead by quite a bit instead of passing your advertising costs to the consumer. Your part of what gives contractors a bad rap.
R A.Waste of $79 and my time.
The call staff were great BUT the guy they sent out was not. I watch service people like a hawk and when he went into my attic to look at my unit he didn't even really look at it. He just fiddled with some pvc that I knew were not glued properly and kept pushing different products - WITHOUT OFFERING TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT! When he went outside to check the unit, he didn't even gauge the Freon or even look inside it.
What a waste of time and money and I did not appreciate how the guy tried to use the fact that I was woman alone at home while my husband was at work against me. Felt like the ""service call"" was just a platform to push EXPENSIVE product. I wish I could get a refund on my $79.
Ended up calling another local company and they came and actually did something to fix problems before they became bigger issues at the time of the visit!
Teresa L.Well, Estes has let us down. Our repair man dropped the ball when our air conditioner stopped working. He did not follow up. Also, our Rheem tankless water heater is having problems. Even though Rheem lists Estes as an independent contractor on their website, Estes did not help us. The service guy told us that he knew someone who could help us, but he never followed up. So now we have a broken water heater and a broken air conditioner and Estes is not doing anything to help us, despite our contract.
ANOTHER UPDATE. After Estes told us that we would have to have our HVAC system replaced and put a patch on it and talked us into a service contract to ""save money,"" we found an independent contractor who determined there was a leak in an inlet pipe to the compressor from the coiling cools (whatEVAH), so he soldered a pipe to fix the problem. Our HVAC system is working perfectly. Would you rather spend $300 to repair an HVAC unit or thousands of dollars to replace it.
Lin K.My air conditioning conked out last night. As my usual hvac company could not come for two more days, I had to use someone new. Estes was available that afternoon so I made the appointment as it was hotter than hell in my home. The service fee was double the price of my usual company. $400 later my air is now working. The service guy said I need a new system soon. I will probably use my old company going forward.
Clay A.Estes came out to give me a quote on zoning our downstairs or adding another system.
They were very courteous and conscientious, telling us that neither were good options - zoning wouldn't work and putting in a second system was a expensive and not practical solution for a small space. They seem trustworthy and honest .
Buyer beware!!! I am not sure how this company stays in business. They came to repair our air conditioner, did not fix it properly (it still had same issue when they left) and now they don't want to refund my money. They said I signed their contract that their repair may not work. They are a fraud! Do not use them.
For two weeks I've tried to get our A/C repaired or replaced with Estes and it will be three weeks before it is complete. It's as if they don't want your business or are here to give you the run around. I really don't understand it. We have their service agreement that is suppose to give you preferential treatment if you have a heating or air problem. Anytime we call we sit on hold so long we finally have to leave a voicemail which is not returned. We also tried their online contact form with no avail. It took two days just to get a hold of someone. When we finally did get through I told them I needed to schedule service for a repair or replacement of our A/C which had stopped running. Ialso let them know we had the service agreement and a newborn at home. They then told me they needed to know which service it would be either a repair or a replace because those are handled seperately. I said I didn't know just that my A/C didn't work. They said okay and five days later someone came out. They told me my A/C needed to be replaced and that someone else would have to come out for that. This wouldn't be for another five days. Then after that seven days before the install. Needless to say after this repair we are switching to another company. It shouldn't take from June 16th to July 1st for an A/C company to do their service
Jane L.PLEASE HELP!!!! An AC repairman came today to fix our clogged AC drain. While doing so, he spilled liquid all over our hardwood floors and shoes. The stains will NOT come out!! :( I called customer service and there has been no response yet or reply to my email :( The employee was very nice and did a good job and it would be MUCH appreciated if you could fix this problem!!!!
DON'T USE ESTES!! I have 2 older units in my house and so bought a maintenance contract for around $200. Their only purpose to selling that contract (besides getting the $200) is to gain access to your house / equipment twice per year and UPSELL YOU! Every time they step foot in my house they come up with $2-500 worth of supposed repairs or maintenance items that I ""need"". They charge $230 for $25 parts (after finding out they did that to me once, the next time I was able to buy the part online and install it myself for $27, and I know nothing about AC or heating units). They came out a couple of days ago to do the spring check-up and again attempted to upsell me on a capacitor and Freon to the tune of $3-400. Also pushing hard on 2 new units. After telling him that since the units are working great right now and I have other budgetary constraints (and toying with selling the house), I'd have to get back with them about doing anything to the units. After continued pushing, and my continued refusal, he finally went outside to ""finish"".
Now mind you, both units were working PERFECTLY until he touched them!
He leaves, and all Saturday afternoon / evening the downstairs unit was not cooling properly. I thought it was all in my head, you know, after all the talk of it needing some things done to it. But the thermostat doesn't lie. The unit ran all day Sunday but the temp kept going up. Finally at 4:00 p.m. I just turned the unit off, it was 82 in the downstairs (thermostat set at 75). Since cold air falls and heat rises, the upstairs unit, while cooling, was working extra hard and running longer.
Tech's supervisor calls me this morning and, while apologetic and made accommodation to have different tech come out tonight at 6:00, he still said ""well, if it's low and needs Freon, there will be a charge for the Freon"". Also making remark, when I reiterated it's been working perfectly, that it's been ""mild"" lately, up until this weekend. I drove home the point that it was working perfectly UP UNTIL THE MINUTE I WOULDN'T PAY HIM FOR THE UPSELL. It was set at 74 and the house was 74. But as soon as he left the temp started rising, unlike any days prior since turning the AC on weeks ago. I don't have a lot of confidence that they are going to make this right at no charge. I paid a bit more for service calls and contract because they were supposed to be a reputable company. They are as big a crooks as the ""no one ever heard of"" companies!
UPDATE: new tech comes out and says ""yup, the freon is low"". I ask him how the unit could be working perfectly until the tech touched it, and he says . . . get this . . . .IT MAY BE BECAUSE THE OTHER TECH CLEANED THE UNIT!!! WHAT??!!!
STAY AWAY FROM THIS SUPPOSEDLY REPUTABLE COMPANY!!!
