Terrible company. Dragged their feet every step of the way. Screwed up the permitting for the job. Cancelled appointment with no notice (was left sitting around) and overall very rude to deal with. DO NOT USE.

Whitson ATTEMPTED TO WAY OVERCHARGE me and when I questioned the figures. the representative became extremely Condescending. The scope of the job was simply added regulator connect Pool heater. The original quote was $ 865.00 I asked the following question: Q what is the hourly labor rate ? A. $165 hr. Q how much is a regulator? A. approx $ 150 . Q How many hours does it take to add the regulator and connect heater pls remember the previously installed gas line was approx 2 feet from the pool heater? The representative would not answer, but , did reduce the price quote to $695.00. I asked again approx. how long the job would take? The representative then became VERY condescending and would not answer the approx time questions. Whitson also attempted to way overcharge for extending an existing gas line to my firepit. The job entailed only extending the existing gas line (which they previously installed ) for the firepit adding 22 feet of a straight line. Not connecting the firepit only running the line in an existing code complaint trench. The Whitson quote was $1030.00 The labor at most would have been 1.5 hrs $247 thus, they were attempting to charge me over $35 afoot for the underground gas line. I suggest avoiding the bad attitude and being grossly overcharged the other quotes were vastly more competitive.

Terrible customer service, they have been a nightmare to deal with! Cancelled a service appointment without calling me first (I'd taken time off of work to wait) and then reassured me that I'd be the first call of the day when I rescheduled. Didn't happen, and I had to call again to ask that they send someone out. Absolutely zero attention to customer service and satisfaction, was told ""we had an emergency in a restaurant and that's our priority"". I would not recommend this company.

I have dealt with this company for over eight years. I have had service contracts on my air conditioner (that they installed) for the last two years. In August I renewed my service contract. My AC was serviced and Martin suggested I have my fan motor cleaned. Sadly, I said yes. When the workmen cleaned my AC they put it back together incorrectly and broke the motor. Of course, it was Friday afternoon, leaving me with no air in August for the weekend. I received no contact from the owner until Monday morning, when I contacted him. I went to a mid-priced hotel for two nights and asked him to reimburse me $200 for the hotel, since it was his employee's error that left me without air. I have had no contact from anyone since my request by mail. Apparently being a moral and ethical business owner does not matter to these folks.

We had a leak in our gas line. Our gas company recommended EH Whitson as a company that could repair. The company charged $386 to turn off the gas and let us know that they would need to come back and fix the actual piping for an estimate of $850. Our Ring cameras had the crew entering and leaving in 75 minutes and they came back with an invoice for 2 hours of labor. I should have reviewed BBB and Yelp before calling!

HARD LESSON LEARNED TOO LATE: I should have read the reviews before using E. H. Whitson Company. So many were less than stellar and I am kicking myself for trusting them. I found them to be one of ""those"" companies that do the EASY rather than the RIGHT thing when dealing with customers, customer service, and corporate responsibility.
I trusted them with several home projects including electrical, air conditioning, and plumbing. Disappointment came when we put in a generator. What makes the entire thing even more disappointing and infuriating is that the majority of bad customer service came from the President of the company, himself, John Lipka.
The first sign of potential incompetence was over the permits. After 6 weeks of waiting and hearing nothing from the company, I called to see what was taking so long. I expected them to say that it was the permit bureaucracy and that their hands were tied. Instead, I was told that they had NEVER even filed for the permits and therefore would need to start again. Needless to say, my disappointment was great but mistakes happen. I just swallowed it and waited again. And again...nothing. This time when I called to inquire (again, they did NOT reach out to me) I was told that they needed more information in order to file for the permits. When I inquired why they didn't ask for this at the very beginning of the process (over 8 weeks previous) they simply said ""oops, sorry."" So now, we were back at square one...again!
Before we contracted for the generator I did some research and due diligence to see if there were any specials offered by the manufacturer, Generac. Indeed, there were, especially on extended warranties. But those specials had deadlines so I told Whitson of the deadlines. In fact, I spoke directly to the President (John), who assured me that all was taken care of. I reminded him that there was a deadline by which the generator needed to be purchased and by which it needed to be installed. He assured me, personally, that he had taken care of everything and there was nothing to worry about. I even called him to remind him of the deadline a few days before just in case it had slipped through the cracks as had the permit process. Again, he absolutely assured me that all was done and there would be no problem. This turned out to be a completely fabricated falsehood.
Now, it was close to the deadline of installation. Suddenly I am told that there would be a delay because they have other customers ahead of us and that ""everyone wants it yesterday."" That's when I finally realized what kind of company I was dealing with. I reminded them that over 8 weeks ago, we were calmly, patiently, and with no pressure waiting our turn and for them to now put us in the category of wanting it ""yesterday' was completely unacceptable, insulting, and a problem that needed to be fixed. They complied...very begrudgingly. Again, they seemed to prefer the easy thing over honesty, reliability, and customer service.
Eventually, the generator was installed. They missed the deadline but, as pure luck would have it, Generac extended the installation deadline due to storms in Florida so we were still eligible for the extended warranty...that is until we learned that John had lied to me...boldfaced and without apology. He NEVER had purchased the generator by the deadline even though he expressly told me he did and even though we had paid for it in advance. How did I find out? I called the company he purchased the generator from and was told that he had purchased it just a day or two before, well after the deadline he assured me he had met.
Could it get worse? Absolutely! I have called John at least 5-6 times to ask what he would do about this. He told me to get him info on the extended warranty and he would see what he could do. I sent him the info and waited to hear back. And waited...and waited. I called him again and asked what was going on. He promised to call me back. He never did. I called again. He promised to call me back. He never did. I called again. He promised to call me back. He never did. He has promised to call me back to let me know what he will do at least 6 times in the last two months. I'm still waiting... So, what to do with this information?
I pass it on to other potential customers and real estate agents when asked whom I do or don't recommend for home services. I divest myself of any services offered by E. H. Whitson Company. We still have some contracted services with them but those will not be renewed unless John convinces me that our business is important, explains his consistent falsehoods, rectifies his mistakes, and keeps his promises (his previously consistent pattern gives the impression that this will NOT happen). And I post my review on any and all social media sites that accept reviews including on our residential HOA site so my neighbors can be aware of this company's lack of professionalism and inability to take responsibility.

We used EH Whitson to install our gas dryer. The staff member that set up the appt was very friendly. The technicians installed the gas to the dryer with no problems. Almost a year later I called EH Whitson for a receipt so that I could mail in my rebate and with no issues or problems they were able to email it to me promptly. I'm so appreciative of that. I will definitely recommend EH Whitson to anyone who needs gas/water plumbing work done.

My gas water heater bottom fell out and flooded my garage. I called E H WHITSON and within two hours they came to my house and replaced my water heater with a new one. Excellent service, excellent installation and would highly recommend this company. First class operation. Prices are quite reasonable and I am very happy.

EH WHITSON is a company that goes above and beyond at every call. when making an apt for a checkup on my system they quickly sent a tech to diag the problem. The tech explained while he could make some sort of repair, the unit was nearing the end of its useable life and would soon need a replacement. Being in south Florida, AC is essential, and unfortunately the ac units have a short life span due to ocean salt air corrosion which is what it is. I priced out several different companies for a new unit against the quote they gave for a new ac unit and EH WHITSON was very competitively priced. Decided I will be going with them. I spoke with them and about some of the mixed reviews I read on here and they explained that residential customers are very hard to please, compared to a lot of their big commercial customers who are easy to work with and understand when minor hiccups happen. Out of the 6 AC companies I called, and 2 I actually talked to, EH Whitson was the quickest to respond and actually get a good tech out to me. A company that actually returns your calls?!?! Who would have thought! Take the other reviews lighlty, the experience with them was very much worth it!

I needed a job in my bathroom. Whitson was supposed to come ""tomorrow 1-4 pm"". I would get a call half-hour earlier. They did NOT show up, nor call at all, making me waste most of the day. (I recall I had a similar incident with them a few years ago, but now that I was a regular plumbing/electricity/AC customer I would have thought they would behave more responsibly.)
