I had an emergency and I called Jeff at Eclectic Electric. He was able to give me some very simple steps to solve my problem. Eclectic Electric was honest and quick. They saved me well over $450 today! Thanks.

Eclectic Electric answered the phone call immediately, no 'leave a message and I'll call you back' stuff. In addition instead of making a service call & a service charge, Eclectic Electric walked me through the solution. No cost / no down time. Next time I have electrical problems they'll be the first I call.

I had Jeff retrofit several kitchen fixtures with LED lights. Jeff was able to accommodate my schedule and provided guidance as to the suitable replacement fixtures. Communication was very good and arrived on time.

The job was challenging and other electricians only wanted to do the job in a manner that would required hiring someone else to repatch and paint the sheet rock. Although the work was tedious, he took no shortcuts and made sure the job was done right and up to code. I've done some remodeling have experienced plenty of subpar work. It is not easy to find good contractors. His work is extremely professional and he takes pride in his work.

His rates are very reasonable.

I would definitely hire him again.

We needed to install a new nema-1450 plug for our electric vehicle so we hired Jeff to help with us. The overall experience of the process is mixed. While we appreciate Jeff's courtesy, cautiousness, and quality of work, there are some aspects of his professionalism can be improved.

Pros:

we asked Jeff and another contractor to estimate the job. They gave similar estimates. We went with Jeff because he raised a few considerations, which we appreciated. He pointed out that we may need to get the city permit, which I didn't know was a requirement. He also pointed out some new parts may be purchased to meet building code. The other contractor didn't mention those so we appreciated Jeff's cautiousness.

During the job, Jeff's had always been courteous and friendly. We had a baby at home so we appreciated that Jeff informed us when he needed to cut the power off so we were prepared.

The work has been of high quality. We are able to draw 50amps of power from the plug and we have not seen any problems so far.

Cons:

When Jeff came to estimate, initially he suggested it was impossible to draw 50amps of power because our breaker didn't allow it. I had the similar conversation with the other contractor but we were able to work out a solution because the wiring allowed it. With Jeff it took some back and forth. I had to convince him this was possible by telling him the wire type that was written in the other guy's estimate. After he coming on to inspect again, he agreed to the plan.

The initial estimate Jeff had was slightly higher than the other guy's. Jeff pointed out one thing he had to purchase new breakers to meet the building code. Again, I had to suggest to him some of the existing breakers may already meet the code and we could save some money by just reusing them. Theoretically this lowered our cost $100 so the price is competative with the other contractor. However, during the contract signing, Jeff didn't deduct that amount even with the modified plan. After signing the contract, Jeff called and pointed out that he missed that calculation and offered to deduct that amount, which we appreciated However after the job he again suggested to pay him this amount because the job took longer than expected, but he eventually agreed to give it back to us. However, to this date, we still have not seen that $100 that we supposedly saved. I don't mind having pay more $100 and I don't think Jeff cares about it that much either. However, this back and forth could use a better professionalism.

Just called out of the blue because he was one of the only places open on a Sunday -- this was after another person I called said he wasn't available today or ""for another 10 days"" -- and he calmly talked me through what might be the problem and how to solve it. (Had already tried to switch circuit breaker on several times but he gave me more specific instructions that worked!) Didn't even get the name of the person with whom I spoke but I will definitely be calling again for any issues with electricity -- anyone with the professionalism and care to persist in trying to help even through multiple bad phone connections -- even calling me back when my phone failed! -- deserves as much business as he might want to take on! An amazing customer experience! Highly recommended!!

Jeff talked me through an electrical issue and I was able to fix on my own. Not many service people would do that. Then, he called to follow up!
I highly recommend Jeff and Eclectic Electric.

I called Jeff on a Sunday evening because we had a bathroom fan with sparks and soot coming out. We were concerned about safety, but it was difficult to find someone on short notice who would be able to come out on a Sunday. Jeff answered his phone right away, was extremely helpful, and offered to come take a look at that evening. He fixed the problem and also took a look around and made some suggestions about improving safety in some of the other places in our house (installing GFIs, fixing loose breakers). We hired him for the second job as well, and everything was completed quickly and well. Overall, it was a great experience working with Jeff. He is personable, skilled, explains everything well, and gives a fair price. I highly recommend him!

Jeff could have come out and charged us to fix a simple problem but instead he talked me through how to do it myself. We appreciate it!

I called Jeff this Sunday afternoon with a partial power outage (heat & most of our major appliances) that appeared to be caused by our breaker panel, gathered in talking with another electrician. Jeff said that it sounded more like a PG&E issue than one internal to our house. I took his advice and got PG&E to come over and the technician spotted loose wires at the utility pole as the cause...Jeff's expertise saved my family hundreds of dollars in unneeded expenses. Thank you so much, Jeff. I'll think of calling you when we have an electrical problem that's not PG&E related.
