Tony (the owner) and Andy (son) did an awesome job changing my smoke detector today. It's tricky as the detector is located on a 22 foot ceiling. They are efficient and competent in getting the job done. They also kept good communication throughout the process. I will definitely hire them again for future electrical needs.

I had a disappointing experience with E M Electric.

The good:

The disappointing:

I received the bill and found that I had been charged an additional $500 for ""troubleshooting."" I had never been quoted this rate or given any indication I'd be charged a troubleshooting fee until I received the bill.

EM spent about four hours at our house and replaced 7 outlets for $345 plus a service fee of $59. That all felt very fair. The job was annoying and took some research to find out why the outlet were acting weird. I was happy to pay extra for the trouble -- but $500 without getting my approval is excessive. I complained and they lowered my bill by $200 (which I appreciated), but I hate having to be put in that position.

I do feel like they're good electricians, but make sure you get everything quoted ahead of time.

We needed someone to be able to come out same day to repair a breaker that had gone out and compromised most of the electricity in our house. Tony came, tweaked the old breaker so it once again worked and told us that he'd have to charge additional to replace the breaker which wasn't a good idea since the panels in our 100 year old house needed consolidation and replacing the old breaker wouldn't really fix the prevailing issue. We appreciated his honorable response and his promptness in addressing the issue. Highly recommend this company!

Called EM Electric for a few small electrical problems at house. Edgar responded immediately, they arrived within 2 hours. ""Tony"" and ""Tony"" turned out to be friendly, knowledgeable and amazingly efficient. They were in and out in less than 90 minutes and all problems were solved. They had their own truck, with a part they needed. What else do you want from a service like this: Fast, professional, clean, courteous and a fair charge for work accomplished.
