David O.Edward upgraded the service in my 1924 house to 3-phase 240V, ran new wiring for a drier, water heater, EV charger, and stove, and replaced the knob-and-tubing wiring in my garage. He is very professional, punctual, pleasant, and honest. He is committed to using best practices by following the electrical code, and that's exactly what I want in my house. This job required significant interaction with Palo Alto utilities on the location of the new service panel and how the steel conduit should be routed around my gas meter. He patiently explained to me how the city's requirement exceeded electrical code requirements on which his bid was based, and this resulted in additional time and hardware costs. While nobody likes to see a project result in cost overruns, his added charges were fair. If you want a first-rate electrical contractor to work on your project, I can recommend E.G. Electrical Services without hesitation.
Very poor customer service. They use a robo call blocking phone service that does not allow you to call and talk to a human. It completely blocks calls from 669. Repeated attempts to submit a web form and also email them have gotten no responses. Since their phone system does not allow voicemail, there is no way to reach a human. Submitted a consumer complaint and have copied them on email and they still have never responded. Will look elsewhere. :-(
Robert W.Ed checked out a messed up electrical circuit, and thoroughly tested it. He is competent, efficient, reasonable, and does what he says he will do.
We tried out 3 different electricians to solve a problem we had. Edward was the only one to come up with a creative, safe, and low-cost solution. He worked quickly and efficiently.
One year later, I had a question related to the work he did as well as another issue at the house. Before charging me for a visit, Edward spent 20 minutes on the phone with me diagnosing and correctly fixing my problem.
I highly recommend this company and Edward specifically.
Mary Ann N.I called Angies List and got this guy from them, BEWARE, he came out and gave me an overly inflated quote ($407) for repairing a burned connector. I did agree to it (reluctantly) because he was right there. After he left I did my homework and called 5 other certified electricians in the area and all their quotes were HALF of EG electrical quote. He knows he double charged me, regardless of what response he gives back to my review. My lesson for myself is do the research first, I got burned for not listening to my gut. There is enough competition out there, and when I told the companies what EG charged me their response was ""WOW"". Learn my lesson everyone.
Hirono M.I had a very good experience with E G Electrical Service. I needed a new circuit in one of my bathrooms for a bidet toilet seat just before Thanksgiving in 2012. I contacted them on Thursday, they came for an estimate on Saturday, got a permission from the city on Monday, and got the work done on Tuesday, which was a lot faster than I expected. Over the weekend we communicated via email and text about the details and paper work. It was very helpful for me that I was able to contact them over email, while many contractors are only reachable by phone. They were always responsive too. They even installed an extra electrical outlet for the bathroom so that we could plug our toothbrush charger without using an extension cord. Excellent work. I highly recommend them.
The lamp in my rental condo's kitchen would not turn on. I called this company to go over there and fix it. They had told me on the phone that there is a ""$89 service call fee"". I asked Leslee (their rep) if the fee will be used towards the repair and she confirmed it. They showed up at my rental place where my tenants live. About 10 minutes after showing up, they called me and let me know that they cannot figure out why the lamp does not turn on. They said the trouble shooting task is so complicated that I have to pay an extra $700+ cost so that they can find out what the problem is!! Also, they told me there might be a safety hazard if they do not fix it right away. I did not believe them and asked them to leave it as it was before. They charged my $89 anyways for just showing up there! I found another electrician. He came by and fix the issue in less than 45 minutes for just $100! I did contact them and let them know that I am extremely unhappy about the way they practice business. Their electrician (Edward) used a very insulting language in his emails. He did admit that it is possible to find and an electrician who could fix the same problem for less than $100! He still did not explain why he quoted me for more than $700 for the same fix! Instead, he questioned my ability to understand why they charged me $89 (btw, I have a PhD in electrical engineering). I was very clear about my concerns but they never bothered to address any of them. I just want all other potential clients to know about the super poor quality of service these guys provide. Their business practice is unfair and deceptive.
Carol S.Nice person but the bottom lime is I paid for a visit and all he told me is what I already knew - my applicant wasn't connected properly. Which is exactly what I told him on the phone. He didn't fix it and he didn't know how to fix it.
Brett W.Just called them for a quote on my backyard project... And set up an appointment for someone to come by and give me an estimate... After taking all my details, and setting up the appointment, the young lady very politely informed me of the $39 ""consultation fee"" that would be charged! That fee would be refunded if they did the work...
Every other electrical company I have called has willingly come out to see the work needed, and provided a quote at no charge! Obviously this company is so busy that they don't need my little job...
Pity, because they sound quite good, are Diamond Certified, have good reviews, everything... But sadly, I will not pay for the privilege of them walking around my backyard to give me a quote...
Good luck...
Imperial C.I met ED when helping out a General Contractor on a complete house remodel. I was really impressed with his professionalism. He showed up to the Jobsites on time and got the jobs done. He's very well educated in the National Electrical Codes even the city inspectors were impressed with his knowledge of the Electrical field. I highly recommend EG Electrical Services.
