Our HOA is working with Duke to upgrade and replace 11 really old and faulty streetlights to new classic styled LED fixtures. He has also provided excellent advice concerning other outdated electrical issues that need to be upgraded to current standards. He has been reliable and very responsive...communicating by email text and providing proposals. He follows through as promised every time! We intend to continue to work with Duke Electric for future projects. We highly recommend his company.

I hired Duke to install recessed lights on my wooden vaulted ceiling, which takes more skill than installing them on a regular flat drywall ceiling. Duke was the only electrician I found on Yelp who had photos of recessed lights installed on vaulted ceilings, and I can confirm that he did a beautiful job with mine (and at a competitive rate). I appreciate that Duke is passionate about what he does, and treats lighting not just as a day job, but as a craft.

Duke is fantastic. Super friendly and patient. We needed someone to take a look at the electrical wire where the drop from the power pole is. It was stressful not knowing how much it would cost and how inconvenient it would be. We needed someone professional that would understand what we are dealing with. Duke came out, and was early for our appointment. He walked us through the entire process, taking time to explain in detail what he needed to do. Also, he took a look at some other issues like ungrounded outlets. Overall, an excellent experience with this company. 5 stars!!!

I was having my kitchen remodeled and was going to need some electrical work done.

The gas oven was going to be replaced with an electric oven and moved to a new location. His input was critical to the layout of the kitchen. I was also going to replace my fluorescent lights.

Duke was very honest on where I could relocate the new oven and saved me a TON of money, as the location I originally wanted, under the gas stovetop, was too convoluted and expensive. His confirmation on my second location was perfect and allowed me to move forward with the kitchen remodel.

He replaced my fluorescent lighting and made recommendations on where and how many LED recessed lights I needed, plus he replaced the under cabinets lights and small lights in my glass cabinets. He had a great drywall person come over the same day to patch the ceiling. All this was done within 4 hours! I also decided to have the older recessed lights, in the family room, replaced with LED lights. He did a fabulous job on all the lighting

Duke showed up on time, was very friendly and professional, and was always in contact with me. He provides quality work at good prices. I plan to use him for other electrical projects at my home. I highly recommend Duke Electrical.

I called Duke on a Wednesday for a quote to do recessed lights in my new two-story house. He followed up with a text message and we arranged for a free in-person consultation for Saturday. He was 1 of 3 electricians I reached out to for a quote, he was 1 of 2 that responded timely and of the two he was the higher quote, but the better choice. I decided to go with Duke because:

1) He came to the house and walked through each area explaining his process and approach which informed the proposal he later provided. Through text message he gave a 'cost per light' quote to give us a sense of the total cost of the project, then while at the house we talked about the number of lights that would be optimal for each area of the house.

2) He was able to squeeze in my project, between two other projects he had scheduled, for a completion date of within two weeks from the time I initially called. I called Jan-15 and the lights were installed by the 29th.

What made me feel good about working with Duke:

1) He got us quotes for a drywall/paint person to patch up holes and they worked together.

2) He spent the entire first day mapping out the ceilings and worked with us to try out a few different placement ideas for the more problematic areas of the house.

3) He encouraged us to get quotes from other electricians so we would become more knowledgable in the process and feel good about the decisions we were making.

What you should know: We got our contract (proposal for work) and invoice when the work was almost done. A lot of the decisions and changes we made were verbal and on occasion recapped through text message. We were comfortable with that approach since it was within a short timeframe.

I contacted Duke about a new electrical panel. He came very soon after my call and walked me through the issues I had. Duke recommended a new panel and an additional circuit for a trouble area I have in the house. His delivery of a detailed quote was quick and professional. We scheduled the time to do the job and Duke and his worker were on time and did a complete and perfect job leaving everything neat and clean. I recently bought a house in San Jose and did a total remodel which meant outfitting the entire 2000 square foot home with recessed lighting, installing several outlets and rewiring electric cables for a new kitchen layout. Duke installed over 40 recessed lights in my new home. He was always on time, ahead of schedule and highly professional. He always insisted on doing things the right way; up to code and never cutting corners. Duke Electric replaced fluorescent canned lights with LED lights and repaired a pendant light that had stopped working. I was very impressed with their responsiveness, and the fact that they made an appointment for the next day. Duke and his associate worked very quickly and efficiently to do the installation. He diagnosed the problem with the pendant light immediately - provided the necessary part and repaired that day. Prior to starting the job he clearly communicated the costs. The other 3 electricians I contacted were either non-responsive, outrageously expensive or could not provide a clear estimate of the costs - Duke Electric excelled in all 3 areas and exceeded my expectations! I have a bigger job pending, and I would definitely hire Duke Electric to do additional work in my home.

I had Duke install an electrical line and the related outlet in my home. When I called him he was responsive and came to see the job site the same day. He gave me a quote, provided the insurance certificates and set an appointment to perform the job.
He showed up on time, brought all the necessary material, coordinated with the other contractors and performed the job very smoothly. Duke minimized the number of cuts needed to install the electrical line. After the line was installed, he fixed the sheetrock very well with very roust patches. Needless to say, the electric line works great. Payment was according to the quote and was painless.
