I had a pleasure of working with Duke Elec to upgrade our main service panel to 200Amp after Tesla failed to install the Powerwall due to excess loads. The overloading led to an arc in the service panel which cut off power to the cloth dryer. We contacted Duke for assistance at which time Duke promptly showed up to replace the breaker. Duke mentioned the hazard of overloading the panel which is consistent with the issue that Tesla brought up. After further research we decided to have the panel upgraded to mitigate fire danger issue.

We approached several electricians in the area for the job. Those who came suggesting doing the work without city permit and PGE signoff were quickly dropped from consideration. I picked Duke for his honesty and integrity.

Duke's quote was reasonable but we really appreciated the fact that he kept us inform of the permit process and schedule. Duke showed up to finish the job and had city and PGE signoff effortlessly.

We have Duke coming back to replace an old subpanel and install a Tesla charger soon.

Overall, our experience with Duke Electric has been excellent and I would highly recommend his service.

Duke is our go-to for anything electrical. we asked him to replace our old (recalled and dangerous) zyngsko breaker box - he went above and beyond and did what no other company had even thought of, replacing the box, upgrading to 200A, making a subpanel, dealing with PGE and town requirements, all while keeping us up to date with progress and potential hurdles (mostly PGE) and the most professional attitude. recommend to all my friends and neighbors.

At first owner seemed like a knowledgeable guy and that justified hiring him despite more than an average quote. I needed running 220 for EV charger, external outlet, and running AC disconnect. For which he asked/charged 8 hours for a crew of 3 people.

In reality two team members started 9:15 finished 3:20 (with 1 hour lunch).
Owner disappeared from the morning, did not show up during the day, or after the project. Only texted me to write him a hefty check to ""put under the mat"", w/o even wondering of the results.

Shortcuts in every step of a way and all sort of mess was far from expected ""quality"". Just few to mention:

- left bedroom with 5 large disastrous holes (while asked for 2 small to fish the wire). Now need a pro drywall/paint work to fix it all.
- running 220 wire in the air over garage ceiling (did not even bother to ask for longer wire).
- not patching wire hole in a fire wall (between garage and house).
- trying to run wire by cutting went mesh (instead of agreed place to drill).
- connected external outlet to inside outlet wiring instead of agreed/paid dedicated line.

The worst part is - it will be ""all your fault"", ""you have a wrong house"", ""you know too much"" and ""you ask too much"". I never felt harassed as much and taken advantage of ever. You'll hear ""I have a license"" a dozen times. I asked owner to come and review. After spending time (+ listening his unprovoked threats), owner admitted wrong doing, tried to offer discount, fixing issues, or even patching the holes, but damage was done. I would never let him anywhere close to our home.

If you need to install 2 recessed lights at extraordinary price, I would still advice to stay away and save your money/time/nerves/house.

Duke replaced our old unlabeled Zinsco panel with a new labeled square-d and it was a great experience. He pointed out where wrong sized breakers had previously been used in the box for the existing wiring, as well as answered a lot of questions about what circuits would be needed as we remodel other parts of the house. Highly recommend.

Excellent Customer Service! I highly recommend Duke Electric. We had three wall mounted porch lights that needed to be installed at our home in San Jose so put calls out to a few local electricians. Duke Electric responded quickly and provided a same day response by his team. Eddie and Jorge showed up on time and did an excellent job installing the lights. Their attention to detail in ensuring a clean install was appreciated, for sure. After finishing up, I asked Eddie about adding an outlet to one of our bathrooms. I was concerned since the outlet would need to be placed into a tile wall (wainscoting). Eddie provided assessment and let me know that they had a special tool that could cleanly cut through the tile. He ensured that they could safely add the outlet. Later that day, we scheduled the outlet installation with Duke. Eddie and Jorge showed up on time and the outlet installation came out perfect. Thanks again to Eddie and Jorge for their detailed work. We look forward to using Duke Electric in the future.
