D'Spain Sales and Service was founded by Wiley and Lois D'Spain in Bandera in 1974, following they accepted an offer to acquire the HVAC, appliance systems, and water systems units from the Langford Hardware and Lumber Company, where he had worked for a decade. Initially, Wiley had an innate talent for all things mechanical and a true passion for wind power, having spent his youth on a farm in a nearby area. She was raised in Eastern Texas and ultimately relocated to Bandera after a delightful visit one year. Together, they had been in union for 23 years before founding the enterprise. He managed all of the HVAC, appliance, and well water sales and services and assistance, while Lois D'Spain managed all the accounting tasks. Working nights and time off after her primary employment, Lois handled all the bookkeeping along with financial tasks of the company. As a leader within the business, he encourages and rewards his team for each license they achieve. Wiley and his staff take part in ongoing education and the local authorities.
