They damage your ac and tell you it needs repair. I have the service contract. My ac works fine before they come in. Mysteriously, they find something damaged like a cut wire, a low freon. They tell me system is old, it needs to be replaced. It will cost more to repair it. I even saw someone releasing the freon then he told me my Freon was low. I asked him why he released some freon. He was surprised that I knew, so he recharged it and told me it was not that low, so he did not charge me. I then found out much later that what he did was illegal (releasing the freon). Watch those techs like a hawk, otherwise they will damage your ac and then charge you for repair.

I called the company on August 30th because my A/C has stopped. Technician came could not find any issue. I asked technician if the circuit board can be changed, he said no, the whole unit needs to be changed because it is old over 23 years old. He did not check the electric box for the unit. The A/C started working without the technician help.

On September 8th, the A/C stopped working again. Technician came. Started the A/C. Charged for turning the switch on 49 dollars.

Few days later the A/C stopped working. I called an electric company and the company found the electric box wires above/next the compressor was loose.

I am asking refund for the 2 times charges. Thanks

The entire team at Dr Cool & Professor Heat were amazing. Sakis, the engineering tech surveyed our existing system thoroughly and listened to my concerns.(noise and hot areas in the house) He calculated the heat load on our house after getting our input on what our comfort temp was and took into account our building's structure, insulation level, and windows type. He gave us a quote on a new AC/ Heating system with an innovative solution to address our problems with cooling/heating our East/West facing 3 story town home quietly and evenly; and explained everything that they would do, how long it would take and what to expect. None of the other companies that I got bids from wanted to do anything beyond just replacing my system with another one just like it (only 20 years newer). Putting in an energy efficient system was important to me because we plan to live here long term. Sakis quoted a heat pump system that has one of the highest SEER ratings and qualifies for the maximum federal tax credit, which made it very cost effective. It also has the most impressive warranty out there. The installation crew (Paul, Joseph & Michael) did a great job -they even left my attic more organized than they found it! They were careful to clean up each day before they left and coordinated taking out the old system and putting in the new one with just a few hours without AC. They balanced the flow to the 3 stories by adding additional registers / vents and air returns. When they were finished, we had an issue with the thermostat not controlling the temperature very tightly.
Brandon, the service manager came out promptly and took care of that problem. When they were all done, we had a system that is so quiet and efficient , I have to go outside and look at the fan to see if it's running!

Used this company for years. I had signed up for maintenance contracts on 3 systems at $185 each. Had my annual maintenance performed on my house which has an R-22 system. DR. Cool and professor heat had been to this house before and recharged the system in the last year. During the maintenance inspection the tech thought the system maybe low on R-22. But they forgot to bring R-22 on his truck. He said ""sorry its the only type I don't have, we'll have to call another truck to bring some R-22, one tech must have taken it all."" Tech called the office and said they were going to charge me another service call to bring a truck with R-22 that could recharge my A/C again. I asked ""Why do I have to pay a 2nd service call when you forgot to bring R-22 and you had been to my house before and knew it was an R-22 system."" He said Sorry, its company policy we always charge a service call when we roll a truck. I said its not my fault you didn't bring the tools you needed to do the job, and you have every other type of refrigerant on the truck, just not the one I need. So they wanted $80 for a second service call, and $380 a lbs for R-22. Retail price on R-22 is $50lbs, see link below. So Given they wanted $500 including tax to add 1lbs of R-22, and they had already charged me $185 to check it. I said I'll shop around, as this was going to be a $685-$1000 adding of 1-2lbs for R-22 They are not price competitive and will show up un-prepared and then charge you nearly an 8x markup on parts. I suggest you shop around. https://www.refrigerantdepot.com/product/r-22/?gclid=CjwKCAjw_MqgBhAGEiwAnYOAepTyDx0tGM7IIAZMNUEOMoKKhNahIAn2WSd05sTrfpvlYQwpX7usqxoCn2kQAvD_BwE

I'm sure the owner will leave some feedback to try and make it look like its the customers fault and they're sorry but its company policy to charge 2 service calls for re-charges, when we neglect to send our tech out with your parts. They have lost a lot of business as I was going to hire them for plumbing work, service contracts and etc. They have lost all of my business.

I needed my entire AC/heater system replaced, and I contacted 6 different AC companies for quotes. In the end, Dr Cool Professor Heat stood above the others in terms of getting a quality system at a fair price with a great warranty and customer service.
Sakis came to my home, examined the old system, and took measurements to make sure I was getting the right size system. He listened to my concerns and patiently answered any questions I had, and I had many. He thoroughly explained why I was having issues in some parts of the home and what could be done to correct them. What made Sakis stand out from the others is he was listening to what was important to me. Best fit is how I would describe the system he recommended.
For the install, I had Andy, Joe and JR followed later in the day by Kevin and Matt. They were professional and friendly and answered any questions I had. They did a fantastic job and finished faster than I expected. The work they did is clean and professional, and the system performs well. Sakis came out the next day to perform a quality inspection which was a nice touch.
I made the right decision choosing Dr Cool Professor Heat.

They wanted to charge a 160 dollar diagnostic fee seperate from the repair cost. There are more resonably priced companies. Just search in yelp for a local.

Doctor Cool serviced my 81-year-old mothers AC unit and less than a month later it stopped working. When she called for service, they told her she needed to be on a ""plan"" with them. Realizing they had just serviced her unit another person in the office said they would have someone there that day. The AC technician replaced an outdoor capacitor (they call it a battery pack) and presented a bill for $250, plus a service call of $80, altogether $330, I'm guessing because I wasn't given a copy of the invoice. My mother had used this company prior and was part of the ""plan"", but we will NOT use this company again. After the technician left, I called another residential AC company who told me the charge was ridiculously overpriced and I would have only paid $175 for his service call and the capacitor. What a rip-off! My recommendation would be to call several AC companies before you get hooked into a ""plan"" and, hopefully, they will be HONEST.

Doctor Cool & Professor Heat sent Sakis out to provide an estimate for a system replacement. I recently had my system recharged with 4 lbs of 410A on a 4 ton system, so I have a leak. I discovered the previous homeowner put a screw through the condenser coil to install a mounting bracket to the condenser pad and thought this to be the source of my leak. Sakis reassured this wasn't the source of the leak and it was probably the evap coil, so we went to take a leak. He visually inspected only and told me it was the evap coil. I was suspicious as there was no oil in sight. He then calculated a Manual J with my assistance as I provided him floorplans with measurements to save him time. 15 minutes later, he provided me with estimates ranging from $20k-$29k. I told him I'd need to think about it. He became frustrated because I told him I needed time to evaluate his offer and the load analysis before spending $30k. He said he just did a load analysis and normally he'd charge for this. He acted as if I owed him the $30k for the few minutes of arithmetic he performed. He left in a huff. Not only that, I go to my attic to see he had bent the hell out of my evap coil door and left it blowing cold air into my attic! I spent a good amount of time trying to undo the damage he created and to top it all off, I got a refrigerant leak detector to tell me the evap coil isn't leaking. When they say HVAC guys are shady, they're talking about Sakis and potentially Doctor Cool & Professor Heat as a whole. Steer clear!
