Unfortunately I would not recommend Direct Electric Hawaii to do your Tesla installation. I picked them because they had Yelp reviews and they were Certified Tesla Electricians.

We had a NEMA 1450 installed (4 prong) done. We talked to Asher (owner) for a pre-check review and then Angel did the installation. For some reason after the installation our car was still not charging and would shut off after 20-30 minutes of charging. Angel said he would come back and check it (which he did that same day). He checked everything and said to make sure he would come back and change out the breaker and possibly the 1450 receptacle in case it was faulty.

Angel never showed back up, no call, no nothing. I followed up with him and still no response. I then called the office to see if everything was ok and I got Asher on the phone. He was very terse and condescending saying ""WHAT WOULD YOU LIKE US TO DO...WHAT WOULD MAKE YOU HAPPY?"" Jeez, I was honestly just calling first to see what happened with Angel which I expressed and second what maybe wrong and to hopefully get help trouble shooting the situation.

To be fair, Asher came back out to the house and apologized for the phone conversation and double checked everything. Long story but I ended up having to go through Tesla directly and it ended up being the charger and they gave me a new one.

You would think that a ""Tesla Certified Electrician"" like Direct Electric Hawaii would go through some education about the cars themselves and also the chargers to help troubleshoot and one might think they also have connections to people at Tesla here in Hawaii to help if anything goes wrong. Apparently, Direct Electric Hawaii stops at the installation and has little knowledge about how the chargers works and no real connections to Tesla folks (I did get one number that they used years back but had to work between many departments to contact the right folks on island). I am not an electrician but had to point out to them that the charger itself has its own little circuit because I asked what a little clicking noise was - you would think they would know things like this.

You would also think that after this fiasco that Direct Electric Hawaii (and the owner Asher) would care more about our situation but that was not the case. One of their big sales points was that they handle all the permitting. The last email I got from Asher at the end of January saying they have permit in hand and they would let me know when the inspector is coming out and also send me a copy of the closed permit. Both were not done and I have not heard from them.

Honestly, I don't like writing negative reviews and wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt and also the reason why I waited so long to see if they would try to make things right. Two months later still no follow up from them and feel like ""What is so special about the ""Tesla Certification?""

I probably paid twice as much to a company that really does not know very much about Tesla and they dropped the ball twice. If all Tesla Certified Electricians are like this, I suggest getting a ""normal electrician"" who can follow these guidelines (or whichever charger you are getting). You will probably save half the costs and have a working charger. Tesla posts the requirements online so if you have a good electrician who can do the work you don't need a certified Tesla guy.

I called Direct at the recommendation of my plumbing contractor. The office response was immediate, courteous, knowledgeable and respectful. I needed an outlet installed for a Toto toilet. She understood what I wanted and gave me a choice of appointment times and the company rates. The two person crew arrived as scheduled and completed the installation in a difficult location on time and on budget. They demonstrated that the outlet was functional to fully complete their work. They cleaned up the site as professionals do and bid me adieu.

I work with Mark and Becky regularly who are always available to take my call and answer any questions I have.

Mark is great about getting back to me with answers about jobs if he doesn't have the answer and working to get my jobs scheduled. Becky makes my billing an absolute dream. She always references our work order number and she responds to the original email inquiry with the invoice and pictures from the job.

Direct Electric is definitely one of the easiest vendors to work with from start to finish.

I've sent them out to do troubleshooting for lights that weren't working, buzzing sounds from panels, install charging stations for electric vehicles, install recessed outlets, and on and on - & I always get great feedback on the work they perform too.

What a lucky find! My neighbor used this company to rewire his house last week and because we needed the same thing done to our plantation home, we thought we'd get a quote and go from there. Long story short, this company is great! The first word that comes to mind is professionalism. Our house had extremely old (1938) knob and tube wiring which is obsolete and relatively dangerous. It's not an easy job but they crushed it. I mainly dealt with Jonathan, Jimmy and Robert. They did the entire job in 5 days. They were extremely accommodating as they would leave power on in a particular room so that my wife and newborn daughter would be comfortable. We were definitely apprehensive about getting the house rewired while we were living in it, but these guys made it no problem. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Let me start by saying that I don't usually give reviews. But when I see a person provide exceptional service and takes pride in their work, then they are deserving of a good review. When I am in need of service to be done, I usually go the normal route of asking family and friends if they know anyone in this particular field. But no one came to mind when I needed an electrician. So the next best thing was to go on yelp. I decided on Direct electric because of all the positive reviews. From the first time speaking to someone on booking an appointment, I was impressed. Very courteous and pleasant to talk to. The day before the job, I was contacted by someone confirming the appointment. He explained pricing and even went as far as telling me the name of the person who would be doing the job. Angel was the electrician and he showed up at promptly the exact time that was scheduled. He looked at what materials he needed to install my ceiling fan and gave me a price and asked if I was comfortable with it before he started. I agreed and he went straight to work. He was very neat and thorough. At the end, the fan looked awesome. Explained how to work it twice to me, because I was stuck on stupid the first time. I would definitely use this company again and recommend them to anyone in need of electrical work.

Jed worked quickly and expertly, and he even helped me with another outlet that was loose at no extra charge, and replaced the outlet face. Back in December they came to my house to fix at bad outlet. The technician spent about 3 hours and still didn't get it right. A minute after she left the outlet failed. We were able to catch are in the parking lot and she came back. While she was repairing the outlet she apparently knocked loose some piping under the Kitchen sink. The next morning we discovered it by stepping into the leaking water on the floor. Just 2 days ago the same outlet failed again. When we contacted Direct Electric they wanted to charge us $200 to come out to take a look. No taking responsibility for not repairing it right the 1st time. I am very disappointed I will not be using them again.

Shortly after posting my review Direct Electric came to the house and made everything right at no cost. I guess there was a communication break down between my renters (family) and Direct Electric. I am happy to report all is well now. Yes, I will use them again.
