Thank you for allowing us the opportunity to assist you. James Yancey, a ten-year resident of the East Bay, owns Diablo Valley Handyman Service. After nearly 16 years of crafting high-end remodels and additions for others, he decided it was time to start his own business. James has worked as a field supervisor for Carey Construction and as a foreman on energy-efficient renovations at civic centers in Fresno, valuing the relationships built while completing projects on schedule. In his spare time, James enjoys spending time with family, hiking, and occasionally volunteering. Being of service has brought him friendships, fulfillment, and success. As a third-generation contractor, James Yancey brings a wealth of experience. After several years of exploring his path, he found his niche in handyman services. “I grew up maintaining rentals for the family business and have 20 years of experience at the age of 36. Working in construction provides me with daily variety and the chance to get things done right. I have a deep appreciation for this field!”

Exceptional Service!

I moved into my condo recently, and I needed to make many repairs to the bathrooms (from repairing the entry door to replacing both exhaust fans) that were beyond my DIY skills.

I called Diablo Handyman to give me estimates for the repairs, and they came out on schedule to do the work. I was very impressed with their workmanship that convinced me that I could not have done the work any better myself to save a few bucks.

I will be calling Diablo Valley Handyman for any repair I need in the future.

The team led by Brian were great. The intent was to fix an electric ""circuit "" that kept blowing. They also fixed a 2 way light switch that had now worked in years. They were not only on time, but called to see if they could come early. Cost was exactly what they estimated. Their information is now saved in my phone. I would not hesitate to call again for assistance.

I used the Request a Quote feature recently when a tile lifted in my master bathroom and got water on our wall. James responded very quickly and was out to do a detailed quote for that and some other jobs I've gotten blind to over the years. What was even better was the entire thing was done electronically - perfect for a working mama trying to fit this in between finals, December craziness and a vacation.

Fast forward to today. Dwight and Shawn arrived right at 8am as promised. While they had the estimate from James on hand, they had me walk through each room so they fully understood what I wanted. Since James had come out a couple of other small things broke and they agreed to add to the punch list.

I'm amazed at just how much they accomplished in one work day:
- Tile lifted and reset in master bath
- water damage on wall repaired
- bath recaulked all the way around
- two faucets retightened
- a door rehung,
- outdoor lighting drilled and hung from deck
- shelving in two closets installed
- new USB electric plates installed throughout the house
- other random odds and ends

I'd love to say this list just popped up all at once, but honestly a bunch of them have just been bugging me for years. James, Dwight and Shawn were all wonderful to have in the home and careful of my dogs and children underfoot.

Will definitely be using them again. Now that I know how simple they are to use and the quality of their work I won't wait four years again before calling someone out!

I would never do business with Diablo Valley Handyman worst experience ever. I contacted them because they are well reviewed. So I waited a month for them to install a sunsetter awning and was given an estimate of 4 to 5hr job at $110 an hr. It was bad from the beginning. Handymen came an hr late, then came unprepared even though everything was onsite Joe and his assistant left for a good 40min. to go to home depot and when they came back I see Joe parked in front of my house vaping for 10min, all the while I'm on the clock at $110 an hr.
After seeing Joe smoke up , I did not want them on my property and told them I wanted to speak to their supervisor before coming on my property to grab their tools. Otherwise if they get injured I'm liable. That's when Joe's assistant went bezerk and was going to force his way back on to my property and almost went fist a cuffs with me.
In the end, don't know how they got so many good reviews but definitely very unprofessional, a $550 install was now estimated at a $1250 install because they milk the clock very well.

Update ...lol nice lies Joe ... While you are on vacation Joe, the story you heard from your employees is B.S. If I truly threatened to shoot your guys do you really think Dwight your supervisor would come to my house to pick up their tools? I'm the one who threatened to call the cops and I'm the one who filed the police report because you and your guys threatened me. After speaking with you and seeing your follow up review I'm not surprised that you condone this type of behavior. However, let me explain to you as a customer, seeing someone with a pipe in his hand and blowing smoke rings out of his window while he is supposed to working on my house makes me very uneasy. I understand he is in a public space and has a right to vape however, I don't know what he is smoking and on top of it he is climbing on my roof and suppose to be working on my house. You are right I live in a beautiful neighborhood and house, do you really think I need to haggle for a couple hundred bucks? On the otherhand, if your guy falls off my roof we have a different story. Call me what you want ""hard to please"" I just wanted a professional installation with no worries and got the worst experience along with the worst customer service from he owner!!

I had some hard-to-reach lightbulbs that needed changing and a few other little things that needed fixing.
Brian and Logan were great! They were thorough, tidy, nice to me and my kid and most importantly, they did great work!
I will definitely be hiring them again for all my handyman needs!

We needed the ceiling in our bathroom repaired after a pipe leaked.

They came out in just a few days, did a great job patching up the ceiling, and were very friendly.

We are very happy with the service we received.

James and Devon are very busy. Even though I always felt like I was bothering them, they always pulled through every time.

My home required spikes to get rid of pigeons and cap/screens around my house because I was having active beehives terrorizing my home. They came to my home for an inspection, explained in detail what they were going to do, and were very professional the entire time. They were honest and upfront about their prices. No hidden fees.

My projects were complicated and required multiple trips for them. What I was pleased with the most was that they followed through every time I brought up a new issue. They were willing to work with me without charging me extra especially since the issues we came across were beyond our control and some bad luck. I was pleased they made customer satisfaction their top priority.

Thanks James and Devon and Jose for seeing my projects through. I appreciated your patience and time.
