Beau A.I had a newly built home. A/C units were installed by Del-Air. I ordered the filters that were currently in the handler online, when they arrived i found that one of the sizes was incorrect and the tech that installed the A/C unit and the filter may have ""adjusted"" it to make it work for the time being. I was a little upset about this as i just purchased 6 filters online and they were all wrong.
I called Del-Air's customer service team and the girl on the phone was very polite and apologetic. She was able to speak to her manager and make things right. I can tell that Del-Air truly cares about their customers and will do what is right (even for something as small as air filters). Because of the level of customer service they provided me they will have a customer for life.
Bruce B.I have dealt with Del-Air for more than 25 years. They have serviced my air-conditioners and my son's, and have replaced the units at our houses when needed. They have replaced the four units in my house at least twice and my son's a/c once for a total of at least 9 units possibly 13,(my memory for A/C units installed is faulty due to my blocking out the high cost of them) . They perform maintenance on my four units at home, the two units at my office, my son's and an a/c in Gainesville when they went there, and that of my sister-in-law. I thought this was a a service oriented company, and had continued to utilize their services, even though I could obtain those services cheaper elsewhere.
My son's 1 1/2 year old air conditioner stopped working- a unit the Del-Air had installed and serviced twice yearly. The technician said that the blower was bad, and that that he did not have one on his truck. Because they did not have to manufacturer's part in stock, they could install a temporary motor for a rental fee of $125. Let me re-iterate- They did not have the part so they are charging an extra $125 ! How convenient.
I called the company, and asked to speak with the general manager. He was ""in a meeting"", and I was told he would call me back. To my amazement, he did call back. I explained the situation to him, and with a condescending, dismissive manner, he explained what I already knew. He did not care that we had a long history with the company. I do have to hand it to him, he was rude in the most polite way. I think he thought he was talking to a person of limited intelligence. and expected me to apologize after explaining the situation to me. The fact that i discussed moving my business, in a non-threatening manner, elsewhere fazed him not one whit.
I can't understand that he is willing to lose all of my business over what I think is a revenue generating scam. I told him that I might not be his biggest customer, but I was probably his most loyal one. He did not care about this, and now I see that loyalty is valueless to this company, a ""so called"" employee owned firm. I think it is just a case of the employee-owners, trying to wring every single penny that they can from their best asset, their customers, or in this case, a former customer. Funny how going from employees to owners changed their philosophy.
Eric H.BEWARE they specifically told us by phone that the cost of repair was deducted off the service call. They did not stand by this and RIPPED ME off charging me over $200 to replace a breaker a $30 part that took 10 min to replace! Call anyone else the worst experience ever BEWARE!!!!
Called Del Air on Sunday for a/c repair. Tech arrived mid afternoon, checked it out and told us that we needed an electrician instead. Said there was a short in the high voltage wire on the main panel. So we hired an electrician who came out and assured us our wiring was in good working condition, no short was found in any wiring. Today, we had another company come out and found the compressor burned out which they are replacing today. Wasted $79 on Del Air service call and given wrong diagnosis not to mention the expense of hiring an electrician unnecessarily.
Karen N.Needed my interior A/C unit serviced. Had to work through an issue with Carrier regarding my warranty, and over the course of that, I spoke to four different Del-Air customer service agents. They were all dismissive, condescending, and impatient. It was clear that they function with the mindset that people contact them due to a need, not a want, and they do not need to treat people with respect in order to stay in business and keep their jobs.
A tech named Ryan came to do my $79 diagnostic. He determined that I needed a new module. He said the part would be ordered.
Customer service told me that, on the day of installation, I would receive a call sometime after 12pm, 30-45 minutes prior to the tech's arrival. Instead, at 8:19am, I received a call saying he would arrive between 8:45 and 9:30. No one showed up. I called at 9:56 and was told that he had come and no one answered the door. Both my husband and I had been home all morning, awake since 8am. No one had knocked or rung our doorbell. Again I was told to expect them after 12pm, with a call 30-45 minutes prior.
Instead, at approximately 10:30, a truck showed up -- no call prior -- and parked under my shade tree, where it sat for over half an hour, loud diesel engine running (I had to shut my windows to stop its exhaust from continuing to waft through my house) and radio blaring, while I waited, wondering when he was going to come in. Then he left!
I called Del-Air again at 11:11, and was told that I had told them to not send someone until after 1pm. I never said that. During this whole repair process -- both visits -- THEY had dictated to ME when they would come.
So the tech who had just left was told to come back. When making the appointment, I requested that the first tech be the one to install the part. Del-Air said they would send him back. They did not.
After replacing the module, screwing the compartment's front plate back on, and turning the unit on, the second tech, named Eoel, thought that the shut off delay was longer than it should be, so, instead of asking me to turn off the breaker to cut the power to the unit, he, without telling me what he was about to do, removed the front plate of the unit WHILE it was running, causing the suction inside the compartment to suck the fiberglass insulation attached to the backside of the front plate off, tearing chunks out of it. Some of the torn off fiberglass floated through the room around me. Other chunks got sucked into the blower inside the compartment that he had uncovered, sending fiberglass shards throughout our air duct system, which exited through all of our registers into all of the rooms of our home. He told me after he damaged our property that he took the plate off to see if the first tech had tripped the wire to override the shutoff. IF he had told me that first, I would have told him no, the first tech did not trip the wire, I know because I was standing right next to him as he worked.
Besides creating the obvious hazard of sending broken glass fibers through our air system and circulating throughout our home for us and our pets to breathe in, and leaving us with less insulation than we had when he arrived, this person representing Del-Air created a mess that took me a full week to clean. He is a professional who works with these units regularly, how did he not know that the fiberglass was there and that he would create suction by removing the plate while the unit was running? He is either not properly trained, or he was intentionally careless. Neither is acceptable.
Additionally, if Del-Air had kept its word and sent the first tech back, this would not have happened because the first tech would have known that he himself had not tripped the wire.
Del-Air is rude, incompetent, reckless with and disrespectful of people and their property. Seek service elsewhere!!
Jean D.Last year, I needed AC service and I had seen Del-Air advertised on television and had seen their vehicles in the area, so I gave them a call and ended up buying the silver maintenance package. The technician that came out was courteous and clean and explained what was needed for my AC. I needed a capacitor. I paid for that plus the maintenance package. Roll forward and I moved and bought my own house and needed the AC checked and serviced. I called and no it wasn't a problem to use the remaining service call on the new place. After I had set up the appointment with them, 3 days later my AC quit. I had a warranty from the previous owners but figured since Del-Air was coming out, I could wait for them. After calling a couple of times, they said I would be next on the Tech's list. Charles showed up later that afternoon and set about to checking things and said I needed.... a new capacitor. Hmm apparently these things break a lot! He said it would be about 80.00 plus an emergency service call. I stopped him and reminded him that this was a scheduled service call and he stated oh right. He also stated that his company didn't deal with my warranty company. No problem. After he was done he said all I needed was a new capacitor. I inquired about freon and he said none was needed and it would take most of the night to cool the house down since it was hot. I paid, he left, fast forward about 3-4 hrs later and the house was not getting cooler, it was getting hotter. I checked the unit and it was frozen into a block of ice at the pipe level. We shut off the AC and attempted to call del air and it was closed. I called my warranty company and they scheduled someone to come out later in the morning. The new AC guy shows up and checks everything out then puts the gauge on and it shows low coolant level. He also finds the nuts to apply the coolant were only hand tightened. He puts in 2 lbs of coolant and lo and behold we have air. COLD air. 100.00 later (the co pay for the warranty) and he leaves. I called del air earlier to report the problem and they said the head of consumer service would call. He never did. I called them and gave them an update, he calls back several hours later and when I tried to explain to him, he said that maybe I have a leak, maybe this maybe that but couldn't possibly be his tech's fault is the jist of my conversation with him. When I said I was out 100.00 plus what I paid them, he said freon wasn't included in the maintenance package and I would have had to pay for that too. I will never use/recommend them ever!
Wish I could give them less than one star! They are HORRIBLE! Came to my house on a Saturday because my air wasn't working. Tech said I was very low on freon and probably had a leak. Could do a leak check for $106 which I was going to have him do.....until he said ""it's probably your coil which will cost $3000 to repair/replace and if you're going to have to do that, you may as well buy a new unit. If the lines in the attic are leaking, we will have to replace all of the lines because we can't solder in the attic because it might catch your house on fire."" Mind you......when they put a new air handler in your attic, they have to solder the copper to the unit IN THE ATTIC!!! Of course every bit of the 6 pounds of freon that he SUPPOSEDLY put in on Saturday afternoon had leaked out by Sunday morning. No way was I having them back, so I called a different A/C contractor who found the leak in the attic and repaired it.
Janis S.Our system was over 10 years old and we had problems with it from the fit go. We pampered it, had new coils put in several years ago, freon every summer due to a leak in the line so if it's not constantly running the freon leaks much quicker and the unit freezes up.
We received several estimates from other air/heat companies and wow were they not only much more expensive for the SAME unit but Del-Air also has a bank who will finance you for 3 years with NO interest!! Now how can you beat that? The other companies could only offer 1-2 years, one being Home Depot who was the HIGHEST priced for the unit (3 ton).
The guys that spent the day here were awesome guys!! They not only were very professional , they also told me that the unit that we had here for 10 years was illegal and much of our Air was going right out and into our attic due to lousy work. Del-Air completely REBUILT the space where they put in our indoor unit. We are so very grateful for having such a professional Company AND crew. No wonder why we see so many Del-Air trucks driving around. Thanks guys!!!
We had Del-Air install outdoor outlets on an extended patio area that needed to be inspected by the county. The original work was done in under 2 hrs. Great?? Not so much. When the inspector came out, he failed us and said they needed to keep the work uncovered for him to see, because they had covered it all up. When Del-Air came back to uncover the work, they wound up spending close to 3 hrs doing PVC covering work and setting the conduit a lot lower in the ground than they had the first time. I asked them why they had to change the set up and their response was that they didn't know it was going to be inspected. COME ON DEL-AIR, DO YOUR JOB CORRECTLY, EVERY TIME!!! I'm sure it's fine now but if it had not been for the fact that we insisted on having the county inspect it, who knows how safe it would actually be. We have used Del-Air a lot in the past and most of the employees I have had to interact with just aren't customer service driven. Very unfriendly bunch with the exception of a couple of sweeties. I do not enjoy being negative but they seem to need a company overhaul. :-(
STAY AWAY!! STAY AWAY!!
DO NOT MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE I MADE!
I trusted that a bigger company would be more professional and GET THE JOB DONE. Man, was I wrong.
Del-Air is a Nickel and Dime ya Company! Will charge a pretty Hefty amount to come out and then ""Suggest"" a certain part needs to be changed. After that you're in the Del-Air ""Let's change a part"" game.
These guys will ""fix"" something and then within a week or more (If you're lucky) the unit will stop working. They will come out again (With the same fee) and now it's something else. I had, more than one time, a ""Tech"" come out and ""Fix"" the issue only for the unit to go out the next day... and then another ""Tech"" comes out and say's that it's something else.... AND WANT TO CHARGE AGAIN FOR THE FIX AND COMING OUT!
These guys have NO integrity, DO NOT stand behind their work because if they did .. they wouldn't charge multiple times for the unit NEVER GETTING FIXED IN THE FIRST PLACE!
Consider this a friendly warning from a mis-treated customer.
DO NOT USE DEL-AIR!!! AND Tell your friends also, so they don't get screwed over!
