Doug Steger, the owner of DBS Electric, founded the company in Orange County in 2006.

His experience in the electrical sector dates back over 30 years, starting with a small contractor in Orange County.

Since he began in construction, Doug has learned from some of the top electrical contractors in the industry.

Driven by a keen interest in the industry, Doug spent three years at Long Beach City College studying electrical courses and National Electrical Code regulations. He also completed a four-year apprenticeship program through the IBEW Local 11 electrical workers union.

With years of experience as a journeyman electrician, field foreman, and project manager, Doug Steger's broad exposure to different electrical projects has provided him with the expertise to thrive as an electrical contractor in the fast-changing electrical industry.

Yelp for EVERYTHING!

Yup, you can even find a good electrician on Yelp. This guy came on time. He was clear on what his charges were going to be. He is friendly. And, most importantly, he is honest. He could have taken us to the cleaners, like lots of these guys do, but didn't.

Very happy with this guy and would highly recommend him.

I'm reviewing because I wanted to provide some feedback on my experience. I started on a project to install a ceiling fan and was stuck with some wiring issues. I started to call around to see if there was any electricians available on short notice on a Saturday. I called DBS and although they weren't able to come out and assist me they spent about 20 minutes talking to me on the phone to help me through my problem, which allowed me to complete the project myself and not have to wait till Monday for them to come out. This is above and beyond what I would have expected from anyone, and I want to truly say thank you. I will need an electrician again at some point and I will be calling on DBS.

I recently bought a condo built in the 1960s that needed a bit of work. I had mentally prepared myself to replace the old electrical panel first and then make some other upgrades and repairs if I could afford them after that. I called Doug from DBS and he came out first thing on a Friday morning to take a look at everything and give me an estimate.

Doug arrived on time and went through all of my concerns with me in detail. And I mean IN DETAIL. My boyfriend knows a bit about electrical work so I basically tuned out while they were talking. Doug gave us honest opinions on everything I wanted to accomplish. It turns out that I didn't need a new electrical panel! Mine was old, however, it was still in perfect condition. He was honest when he told me what I did and did not need and I trusted his opinion. Ended up making an appointment to have the panel cleaned, an electrical outlet installed, and a botched GFI installation (by another electrician) fixed so I could use my garbage disposal again. The price was what I was quoted. It may have been a little bit higher than what some other electricians charge but I am willing to pay a little more to have the work done right the first time.

As I slowly make upgrades to my condo I will definitely be calling Doug at DBS Electric for any and all electrical work.

I found DBS Electric on Yelp and this is when I'm really grateful for this site, otherwise, I would be going into this completely blind. The power kept going out at my house and I finally had to call someone because I realized there's a lot you can't do without any electricity.

I called him at 7:30 in the morning (he ""opens"" at 8) and he called me back in about 30 minutes. Told him the situation and he said he would be in my area on another project and would let me know if he could come by. He came out and adjusted something, walked me through what he was doing and then told me to call him if I needed anything, but he wasn't going to charge me for coming out. I had to call him back because it happened again and he said he would come out again to do the option #2 fix, which was to clean up my main breaker, put some grease on it and hope for the best. Otherwise, it was a replacement and that was going to be more expensive and would not be happening anytime soon with a lack of replacement parts (obsolete breaker).

I had called SCE in the meantime who came out to check to make sure nothing happened on their end. I've learned that if you have a complete power outage, tell them you have NO electricity, or else it'll be ""3-5 business days,"" which is crazy. Richard from Edison came out and looked at everything, basically confirmed what Doug said, which was reassuring and also told me what Doug probably might be doing to address the problem.

Doug did exactly what he said he was going to do earlier, and which Edison also said, which was kind of reassuring since I know nothing about electricity. Doug seemed like a straight up guy from the beginning, but it was nice having that verification from SCE.

Overall, Doug was courteous, set expectations accordingly, explained everything thoroughly as he was doing it and showed me what was going on. He also said I could get a second opinion if needed, and never pressured me to do anything, and answered any and all questions I had. When I called, he said it was about $89 for a service call just to see what was going on. At the end of the day, I paid under $300 for the repair, and was glad I did so. I thought it was reasonable for the amount of time he put in (making three trips to my house), and great thing was he called the next morning to follow up and make sure everything was okay. He takes Visa or Mastercard which was nice and I got a receipt emailed to me the same night. Hopefully I'll never have to see him again for this same reason, but if I ever need anything else, I've already added him to my contacts list for house stuff!

I found DBS Electric on Yelp and gave Doug a call to schedule an appointment. Despite his busy schedule, he was able to come out on the same day to inspect and fix electrical issues within an hour. Doug is responsive, professional, friendly, & fair. It's been nice doing business with him. I'll give him a call again in the future, if I have other electric issues.

I think it's ridiculous to be open for business and when a potential customer calls, you make a decision not to call back. We called this guy a little over a week ago, but he didn't have the decency to return our call.

We explained the problem on his voicemail, left our phone number twice, and asked if we could get a ballpark estimate on price and time it would take to get the job done. It was just for replacing one outlet. I imagine that the job was too small for mr. bigshot. If this were my business and if I was very busy, I would call the customer back and explain that it would take me a couple of weeks to get to it...but to flat out ignore someone is very rude.

I would never call this guy again based on being ignored. I called a handyman instead who gave me a great price. If he shows up as scheduled and does a great job, I will write him up, so stay tuned.

We tried going the cheaper route when we upgraded our electric panel but ended up badly because it never passed city inspection. The guy we used only made it worse by compromising the structure of our home. When I called Doug, I was desperate and afraid to get ripped off again. Doug was great! He took charge and fixed the panel, git it passed by the city and charged us fair for the extensive work need (he even gave us some free materials and did extra work without charging us-SCORE!!!). BOTTOM LINE: call him if you want an expert and the job done right the first time.

Doug is AMAZING!!! Absolutely the BEST electrician in town!! He came over last weekend to fix a ballast in one of my parents' bathrooms, and not only that, he fixed the electrical wiring that connected both of them together. Before this, my parents have had their share of really bad electricians, who ""claimed"" they knew that they were doing... mainly people they found through word-of-mouth. Literally the power outlets broke the next week! I think they just gave up at one point and started using a halogen lamp in the bathroom instead, which was awkward! Doug fixed everything, and now all the lights and outlets feel like new! He's a VERY honest and trustworthy guy, and most definitely fair in prices!!! My husband and I will definitely be going to him for all our electrical needs!!! Thank you Doug!!!
