Darren is an ACTUAL ELECTRICIAN and knows what he is doing. We had a few people come to fix a power outage in 2 of our rooms and they were not able to diagnose it. Most places i called seemed like handyman who claim to know electricity issues. If you need something done CORRECTLY, call Darren! He also did not charge outrageous amounts, fair pricing.
Andre E.I called and emailed Darren this afternoon and he responded with a price for the service call. After sending him a photo he was here within the hour replacing a breaker. Quick response and on time. He answered other questions I had and was very nice to work with.
I had a long list of concerns regarding the electrical system in my home. Mr. Kicker arrived early, patiently listened to me as I walked him through all my issues and then proceeded to triage them such that I could address real hazards and ignore the things that were not as much an issue as I suspected. I have infinite respect for his work and work ethic and the peace of mind I was afforded by having such an expert assess my concerns is literally priceless. He left me with a great quote for kitchen lighting I will be pursuing in the next few months and I look forward to many more projects with him in the future.
Alexander F.I had put in a call to my Home Warranty company with an issue with my AC Unit during the recent heatwave and the HVAC Tech that came out told me that the issue wasn't due to the AC system itself but an electrical issue with the breaker the AC was connected to. Unfortunately for me this was something that was not covered by the warranty as it was an issue of improper wiring from the previous owner of the home and I'd have to find my own electrician. The HVAC Tech stated I just needed to have the breaker replaced and the issue would be resolved. I put in a request for a quote online Friday night hoping to get a price range on what I would be looking at for the job. The next morning I got a range of responses from electricians saying that they would need to do a diagnosis to see if it was the actual problem and that could run me $95-$200 alone without the work actually being done and the soonest they could fit me in was Monday or Wednesday the following week. One electrician replied that I would be looking at $750 to get the breaker replaced and new wiring installed from the breaker to the condenser and that didn't include having any sheet rock repaired if that was necessary. Then entered Darren. Rather than rattling off all the possible charges I would have to pay for and how much he charged for a diagnostic he just asked some common sense questions like how long I'd had the ac unit and how long I'd been having the issue. After a couple replies back and forth and a picture of the label on my condenser Darren told me how much the job would be to replace the breaker and that he could be there in an hour and knock it out. No haggling, no additional charges for work I hadn't asked for, no bs, just what it would run to do the actual work and having it done same day. He showed up and had my AC back up and running within 15 minutes. I appreciate his honestly and directness. There was not even a hint of an attempt to up-sell the work. Just what I asked for and getting it done right and quick. I highly recommend Darren. Good guy.
Nessa O.Great and prompt service!!!! I learned a lot about the electrical box from him. Mr. kicker installed an electrical charger Level 2 for my car. He was very professional, friendly, and not in a rush. I will definitely call him for more electrical work in my house.
We would absolutely recommend Darren for electrical work. He responded to my yelp email immediately and was able to come out and bid a job for us the next day and start the following week on a kitchen renovation project that involved installing a new service panel and rewiring the kitchen for the new appliances and lights. He very patiently answered all of my husband's questions, was extremely punctual, very responsive to texts and emails and was very tidy. The City Inspector who came out to do the framing inspection was impressed with how neat Darren's work was and was quick to point out how straight all the wires were and how neatly grouped they were up in the rafters. We will definitely be using Darren again for any electrical issues.
I can't thank Darren enough for the wonderful work he did for me and my business partner. I am a real estate agent, and just 48 hours before the scheduled close of escrow, our seller noticed a GFCI outlet that tripped repeatedly, and then could not be reset immediately. We couldn't tell whether the issue was simply the outlet or whether there was a larger issue at hand. I made calls to seven electricians first thing this morning. Three called back but either didn't work in area or could not accommodate us in a timely manner. Darren called back, met us 45 minutes later, and had the problem solved in another 30 minutes. He was careful, tidy and very professional. I will happily call him and recommend him in the future for our clients' electrical needs. I'm still waiting to hear from the other three companies.
DB Cooper ..My wife found Darren on Angie's list, to install a ceiling fan and 4 recessed spots. He was expensive, but could do the work quickly, was licensed and had good references.
When he finished the fan was not connected to a wall switch, there was no receipt and the estimate had gone up 10% (which was probably ok). He spun me a story about needing to reprogram the remote everytime the power was turned off and on at the wall. Which is totally bogus, in fact the instructions mandate it.
Cut a long story short, he only paid attention after I stopped the check. Then immediately got aggressive and rude and threatened to put a lien on the property (which I would have successfully contended).
But he was here early the next day with a screw driver - it took 10 mins to fix. To be fair, the standard of work seems otherwise OK and I would have rated him 5 stars. But I don't take kindly to rudeness, threats and BS (- 1 star) and poor safety compliance (- 1 star).
I don't mind paying top dollar for a job, but I expect top-dollar quality and service in return. I wont be using Darren again.
I found Darren here on Yelp, read reviews and emailed him, he happened to be in the area and stopped by the house. We bought a money pit a year ago and the initial inspection did not call out any electric problems, oh were they wrong. The main service was original and in bad shape, the distribution panel has all sorts of patches and old breakers. I decided to go with a 200 amp upgrade but all the code requirements drove up the cost. Darren spent the time to explain it all and propose the solution. We agreed on the price, he started the job in a few weeks and finished in three days. I did have some scope creep but Darren took it in stride, we agreed on what to do and it all came out wonderful. I recommend Darren for any electrical needs you have, be aware he is a one man show, so be flexible since he is good enough to be very busy. The key is to get a fixed price bid that covers everything you need done, it will seem expensive but in the end he is very competitive.
I called Darren on recommendation from nextdoor. I needed some recessed lighting for my basement and some external outlets. His pricing was very reasonable and he was super reliable. I will highly recommend Darren for all electrical needs. He's fast and efficient.
