This is our second experience with Dallas Landscape Lighting. The first time was six years ago, and after moving, the next time was yesterday. They installed string lights/party lights in the backyards of both houses. And both times the crew was absolutely amazing.

March 2021

In March of 2021, shortly after the freeze in North Texas, Jesse Maupin of Dallas Landscape Lighting, gave me a bid to install a whole house generator. I signed the contract and paid the $20,694.80 deposit for the equipment, and $2,250.00 for cement pad work. In addition, 4 others in my neighborhood also signed up to get whole house generators. I was assured by email in March 2021 that he had two truckloads of generators that he had ordered and one of them would have my name on it. I attempted to contact Jesse and the company several times in the coming weeks and got no response. On Apr 15 2021 he told me by email that the 4 semi loads of generators had shown up and my neighborhood was next on the list. I received no other communication until on 1 October his office tells me that they are getting a shipment in Oct 2021 and Feb 2022. And they will inform me which shipment will have my equipment. I have responded with questions and have not gotten any response.

Nov 2021: I filed with the local BBB in Dallas.

On Nov 9, 2021, Dallas Landscape and Lighting agreed to settle up, via the BBB complaint, and generate a refund to me for the generator that has never been delivered. Further, Jesse Maupin, also said on 9 Nov 2021, (see attached pdf of the email) ""I will get the transfer process going and get us closed out quickly"".

I have emailed, called and texted Jesse since that time and have not gotten ANY response. I know he is still in business because he is doing work at a neighbor's house. But I have not heard anything.

Later in Nov 2021: Dallas Landscape and Lighting agreed in writing to give me a refund.

This case was closed by the BBB because the contractor proposed a reasonable way forward, that included getting me a refund. However, I have still NOT received any refund or heard anything since that time.

April 2022 I reopened the case with the BBB

I reopened the case in April 2022 because I have not gotten a refund or any communication from Dallas Landscape and Lighting.

June 2022

No communication or refund from Dallas Landscape and Lighting since Nov 2021.
Bottom Line: For the last 15 months, Dallas Landscape and Lighting has repeatedly misled me and made commitments it did not live up to. They
agreed in writing to settle up my account over 6 months ago and nothing has been done despite my attempts to communicate with them by phone and email and text. I cannot recommend doing ANY business with Dallas Landscape and Lighting.

Worth every penny, I promise. They've done four different projects for us - bistro lighting, basketball court LED spotlight, front moonlighting and general spotlights.

5 star design, 5 star products, 5 star installation and most importantly 5 star customer service. They do what they promise when they promised it, they return calls/texts promptly, they're totally flexible around schedules.

I've been a good, repeat customer to them for a reason.

My husband has dementia and is progressing quickly in his disease. I had planned to create a beautiful and comfortable outdoor space that he can enjoy but my plan was delayed because the patio heaters that I ordered did not provide the coverage that was promised. When Matthew came out for the sales call I emphasized that I needed a solution that would provide substantial and complete coverage of my patio. He said that one unit would normally be enough but just to be sure he would recommend installing two. When he quoted me the price for the units I told him that the ONLY way I could justify paying that much money was if I knew the entire space would get nice and toasty and not just a little warm because my husband cannot tolerate any cold. Matthew reassured me over and over again that the heaters would perform to my expectation, and even on the day of install when I asked one more time ""Are you sure this will get nice and toasty because I've been very clear with my specs and I don't want to go to this expense if you have any doubts at all"" he responded by saying that he had absolutely no doubts that I would be happy. After they were installed we were sorely disappointed as the spectrum of heat only went out about 2-3 feet on my 12X20 patio. He said he would try to find out what could be done but came back saying that he had just learned they needed to go through an initial 20 hour run before they would put off that much heat. He also wanted to bring the installers back to adjust the direction. I agreed to both remedial provisions but unfortunately there was very little difference afterwards. The whole patio, with the exception of the 3-4 ft directly under and in front of the heaters stayed cold. I told him they weren't doing what he had represented, and what they were rated to do on the brochure, and that I wanted them to take them down and refund my good faith deposit. He said he would talk to his boss but when he called back said they wanted to ""make a deal"" and they would reduce the price. I explained that I wasn't interested in a reduced price since they weren't able to provide what I needed. When he finally returned my calls a few weeks later I challenged him again he said he would schedule the installers to come out the next Tuesday to remove them. When I called on Monday to find out what time to expect them Tuesday he said his boss said that he wanted to come out and talk to me and that the removal had been cancelled. I explained that I needed to get them taken out and the money back so I could do something different but he said he couldn't do anything. I asked Matthew if he had told his boss how we had talked at length on the sales call about my expectations and his confidence that he could meet them. He said that he had explained that to Jesse his boss (and owner) but that he still wasn't willing to lose the money to take them out since he couldn't resell them as new. He said that Jesse wanted to come out personally. After agreeing to meet with him and being stood up both times, Matthew was apologetic and agreed to give me his direct cell phone number. Jesse did answer the call because he didn't know it was me calling and I was able to get him to agree to credit back my deposit. He assured me that he would do it that day but it was never done. I had the distinct feeling he was just telling me that to get off the call and sure enough I have been unable to reach him, or Mathew since then. I would warn anyone considering this company that they are not honorable or trustworthy. I encourage you to consider that in spite of getting everything in writing you might not get what you paid for, and if you do choose to purchase their product at least don't pay anything until it's installed and you know what you're getting.

Could not recommend this company enough! We were solely looking for outdoor heaters for our patio and had contacted 2 other companies that never met with me or called me back. One call and Jesse (the owner) was out the next day. He was not pushy, just informative and guided me to the best solution possible. Even better was it was installed just a few days later! Perfect timing for holidays! Small hitch on the breaker set up but he chatted with me about it that night and came over himself to fix it immediately the next day. Problem solved. Already mapping out another project with him and have greatly appreciated his additional (and responsive) contractors for other things. I'm sure he's swamped with business and our project might have been on the smaller side for him but he treated us as if we were his biggest project on hand. Thank you Jesse!

BEWARE - I've had a similar experience as past 'customers' in being ignored by their representative. In a few days, it will be ONE FULL MONTH since he, Mathew, came to my house despite 2 recent follow-up telephone calls by me AND promises by them to get back to me. and I've not heard a word from them. Thankfully, I haven't hired them, no less given them any money as other people have. I even told them that I understand if they're too busy for me but they insisted they'd be back to me - DIDN'T HAPPEN! Too many other companies who keep their word - BEWARE of people being nice on the surface but apparently not sincere

Scheduled an appointment to mount a television and no one showed up at the scheduled time. Called several times to find out when they were coming and my calls went unanswered and straight to voicemail. I left a message for them to call me and four hours after they were scheduled to show up they returned my call telling me that the work crew had decided to ""take the day off."" Of course, no explanation could be provided as to why I wasn't notified that they were not going to show up so that I would not have had to waste an entire morning waiting for scheduled service that was not coming. (Only One Star because Zero Star is not an option.)

We had a great experience from start to finish. Jesse showed up when promised and the work was performed as promised. Quality work and great ideas to make our backyard oasis beautiful.

Jesse and his team are the best! They did everything they said they would and have done things for me they didn't have to within the original budget. His team is very polite, professional and clean. The lighting and audio turned out better than I could've imagined!

We got multiple bids for our lighting job and Dallas Landscape Lighting wasn't the cheapest, but definitely not the most expensive. We went with them because the price sounded fair and they could fit us in their schedule sooner than anyone else. Their crew was friendly, polite, and efficient. Having remodeled my whole house, I truly appreciate that. I highly recommend this company and definitely will use them again next year.
