I've consistently done freelance work, but I made the decision to start my own business. My previous supervisor, who trusted me with a Superintendent role on a major project in the southeastern region—the Navy Federal Headquarters in Bueller, Florida. We worked as a subcontractor for Barracco Electric, and I started with three other team members. We ended up with a workforce of 50 by the time I left the company. When my former friend and boss told me he no longer needed me, I realized, “It’s all about business; you’re the most expensive on the payroll.” He mentioned he could hire others for a fraction of my pay. I get how business operates. That’s when I resolved to study for my master contractor license, which I am in the process of obtaining. December 2022 is just around the corner. I can competently manage light electrical tasks and small commercial jobs with my LLC license. I hope to offer careers in the electrical field to young people who have been in trouble with the law.
