For more than 75 years, Cullum Electric and Mechanical has led the industry. Cullum Electric was founded by Hubert Cullum during the 1930s. The business began in his home before moving to a location on Waller Avenue. George Smith, Hubert's son-in-law, became the owner in the late 1960s and introduced commercial and industrial heating and cooling services. Cullum Electric later became Cullum Electric AND Mechanical and established its current location on East Durst Avenue. Wade Smith, George's son, came on board in the late 1980s. Wade initially assisted in the electrical division before taking over the service department. Wade still leads the business with John's assistance, and George contributes by advising and managing special projects.

Wade, John, and George, all Clemson engineering alumni, are licensed contractors in both mechanical and electrical disciplines. They strive to preserve Cullum's legacy of excellence in heating, cooling, and electrical services and installations.
