I had a some sort of short in an outside outlet and also needed lights put on timer. I was worried it was not worth most electricians time. I texted John, he showed up the next day to review the problem and see what parts were needed and then we arranged for him to come the following day while I was away at work. I came home to lit pathways! He's down to earth (funny not cranky;) and a pleasure to work with. Highly recommend!

JOHN ROCKS.
Seriously - do not hesitate to work with John and his company.
THE best in every respect. Truly.
Now to get John to come to the Palisades...
Thank you, J!

We purchased an old house that had not been lived in for over 20 years to renovate for my elderly mother. The entire house needed to be rewired and upgraded to a 200 amp box. I got 3 bids, one being from John. John was not the cheapest, but we chose him anyway, because he spent a long time going over every detail, had suggestions on what and how to do things to bring everything up to code, and had a great personality that made him a pleasure to work with. This was a big job and not easy because of the age of the house and the amount of work needed. We had a great experience with John and were very thankful for his thoroughness. Our inspections passed with flying colors and I would happily recommend John to anyone looking for a smart, personable electrician for either small electrical problems or large jobs such as ours.

We had John come in for a minor exterior electrical project which spiraled in to something much larger. He was responsive, timely, and got it done for a price which we felt was very fair. He's also a low key neighborhood guy, which was important for someone working in your house. Very trustworthy and reliable.

John truly is one of a kind. I was extremely nervous having to do any electrical work in our home, and he put me at ease. He was very knowledgable and informative, making me feel calm about the process by explaining it along the way. I thought it was going to cost me an arm and a leg, and it didn't even come close to that. He not only saved me money, but completed the job in a timely manner. John is a very easy going pleasant person to have around. I will definitely call on him again if I ever need and will enthusiastically recommend him to anyone.

John did a huge rewire and sort out of the electrical mess that was left behind in my house by the investment company that flipped it. It was a pretty huge undertaking and John did a superb job. He isn't cranky at all, he is a super cool and friendly guy.

Cranky John is the electrician I have been needing since we bought our first house almost 15 years ago. Since then we have bought four other properties and done a variety of large and small scale renovation projects. I have hired a number of electricians over the years. Some were better than others- none were great. I have used John (he's actually not cranky) a number of times over the past several months and have had very good experiences with him. He knows his stuff, he does what he says he's going to, his prices are fair and he's honest. He also was able to connect me to a couple of other trades people (a drywaller and a structural engineer) that also who also we're exactly what I needed. I plan to use him again as situation s arise and would highly recommend him.

Reading the other reviews, I assume Cranky John's Electric must do good work. But I can't say either way because I could never get anyone to call me back.

Just a short note about Cranky John's Electric - I have been having problems with my electrical system since my contractor sent his Framer to wire up the renovation, doh! First of let me dispell a myth - John is certainly not really cranky at all. His is pleasant, smart, realiable and a problem solver. What the hell else could you ask for? Oh, yeah he's honest too - more than I can say about that old contractor. Use him you won't regret it.

I just recently did a remodel of my kitchen and bath. It was a long rocky road--but one of the highlights was meeting a really great electrician, John Klein of Cranky John's Electric. He took care of bizness and was really friendly (not cranky!). Supposedly, he also works and motorcycles.
These guys are aces. I will definitely use them in the future.
