I'm retired now and I've had about a half dozen homes built over the years, both in Colorado and Texas. I've had experience with a lot of general contractors and subcontractors, almost all of it very positive. This outfit may not be the worst I've ever dealt with, but it's close.
Jimmy Benton seems like a nice guy and he's probably a very good electrician. He's great at making promises and getting your business. I was led to believe he'd be doing the work on my new barndominium, probably with a helper or two.
But instead of Texas Licensed Electrician Jimmy Benton, what I got was a gaggle of inexperienced, untrained, unsupervised, and (probably) unlicensed teenagers and 20-somethings. I've seldom witnessed more incompetence by ""tradesmen"", or such a lack of professionalism from a business owner. I can't count the number of times Jimmy promised to get work done on a firm date and then stood me up without even the courtesy of a phone call. I repeatedly had to postpone the other subs, always looked like an idiot after the third or fourth instance. I estimate that Country Boy's Electric cost me between 6 and 8 weeks on my little building project, not to mention untold frustration.
Whenever his employees did show up (I call them the Kiddie Krew), they managed to screw up even this small and simple job repeatedly. Several switches and outlets had to be moved, causing a lot of avoidable drywall damage. (Check out the pictures.) A full bucket of stain got kicked over on a new floor. Then there was the light switch that gave me a shock, and the switches that still don't operate anything.
Jimmy was always conspicuously absent when the Krew was on my job; I never once saw him with a tool in his hand. But he always magically appeared whenever he needed a draw. He's a master at not returning phone calls and avoiding confrontation; I once had to drive to Hamilton and corner him in his office. (I couldn't see his computer screen, but I suspect he was sitting there playing video games.) He did personally come to finish the job and address the safety issues on the last day, but only because I demanded it before paying him his final draw.
Since my unfortunate experience with Jimmy and his Krew, I've talked to several other local tradesmen about them. I haven't yet heard a positive thing said. (They are commonly known in this area as The Goon Squad, but I still prefer to call them The Kiddie Krew.)
Don't take my word on all of this; I'm not just a lone crank with a grudge. Do yourself a big favor and ask around about Country Boy's Electric before hiring them. Or at least ask to meet some of his ""help"" when Jimmy is giving you his sales pitch; you'll see what I mean.

First off they are a 24/7 service. I ended up calling them when I told my power company my issues and they told me it was on my end. I was able to get an appointment same day(probably because he took into account my AC wasn't working and I have a 1y/o). Jim was very courteous and knowledgeable, I told him exactly what I told my power company and he went straight? to the issue... The meter wasn't sending enough power(and back to the electric company. He even stayed around to make sure they were sending people out). His service fee wasn't an arm and a leg, I will use him again if I need an electrician. Also the company's real name is Country Boys electric and they service quite a large area.

The gentleman I spoke with on the phone originally was very friendly and worked with my schedule. The day and time my scheduled appointment came, he never showed up. I waited about 15-30 minutes before I called him. He didn't answer my call, so I left a voicemail explaining to give me a call back trying to reschedule. The gentleman has still yet to call me back, it has been two days now.
