Currently, this is a solo, part-time operation. As an unlicensed electrician, I am committed to adhering to Code and ensuring quality work from the outset. While I haven't secured my license due to financial reasons, I work well with local government electrical inspectors. I am here to guide you through the process of securing any needed permits.

I take on minor tasks that bigger firms typically won't handle. Numerous small jobs don’t even need permits. I am also equipped to handle larger projects, such as upgrading old knob-and-tube wiring to modern systems, enhancing standard service from 100 amps to 200 amps, or installing subpanels and new circuits. Cost-Effective Solutions began in 1983 as a consulting firm in information technology, concentrating on IBM mainframe operating systems. It was quite successful until the recession began in late 2001. Following 19 years of more work than I could handle, contracts became scarce. Following six months without work, I resolved to apply my other skills acquired over three decades as a homeowner.

I started as a handyman but quickly found my passion in electrical work, which I enjoy and excel at. I delved into electrical codes, mostly through books I acquired and guidance from more experienced individuals in construction, such as my best friend, a general contractor, and a local building inspector.

Cost-Effective Solutions holds an A+ rating with the Better Business Bureau. We recently relocated from Belmont to Petaluma. Don’t hesitate to reach out.

I hail from San Francisco but received my education in San Mateo. I attended CSM, CCSF, and Oregon State University, majoring in Physics and Math, before moving to South San Francisco, then to the City, Belmont in 1986, and finally Petaluma in 2018.

Before joining IBM in 1969, I owned a stereo component store and a small recording studio in San Francisco. While still young enough to work full-time and pursue other interests at night, I managed rock bands, designed sound systems for nightclubs, and did live sound engineering.

In 1985, I exited the music business to concentrate on Cost-Effective Solutions and IT consulting. In late 1986, I relocated my home and business to Belmont. I enjoy a happy marriage and have three adult children, five grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
