One of the bathroom lights in my investment property stopped working. Apparently, I had this problem years ago, which inspired my first ever 5 star Yelp review. This is a fact I wished hadn't slipped my mind, but I'll get back to this story in a bit. Back to Cortez-

Cortez Electric was my first call and he was available the same day, earning him two stars because I do appreciate promptness. He had the light working and was out of the door within a couple of minutes. 2-3 minutes max. I was surprised by the call stating he was done, because I was just notified that he made it.

The end cost to ""reset the outlet"" was $75 per minute!!!After paying the requested $150 via Venmo, I shared my opinion with him, writing, ""for two minutes of work, you could have charged less as you have the discretion to do so"".

This interaction made me recall the exact same situation years ago with BPS Electric, who unfortunately no longer service residential clients. Unlike Cortez Electric, BPS Electric opted to not to charge anything after being in and out in a few minutes. I have attached my past BPS review.

I'm not saying Cortez Electric does not have a right to charge whatever he wants. I'm not requesting ""charity"" as he suggested. I paid immediately because I have no problem paying for a service. What I am saying is that $150 is an excessive charge to reset an outlet which is effortless. At best you could have allowed utilization of the fullime you insisted to be paid for, more could have been done.

This review is important because I know for a fact that there are honest business out there that would have taken a different more customer-centered approach. U

I hired Tony to re-do the entire electrical in my house in Napa....everything including replacing all knob and tube with romex, 200A panel upgrade, and installation of all new can lighting, outlets, and switches. I am so happy to have found Tony. His work was very meticulous yet fair in price. All the work passed inspection with flying colors and Tony spent extra time making sure everything was how I wanted and that all work done was top notch. He made suggestions on how to improve my plan and made sure I had enough outlets and switches. Tony was a tremendous pleasure to work with.

Tony was extremely easy to communicate with over the phone. He provided an estimate based on pictures that I sent to him and was flexible with our availability. SO thankful that people like Tony still do business in this world. He answered my weekend call and was very helpful and responsive. He helped us over the phone until he could come out on Monday. On Monday, he immediately fixed the minor electrical issue and helped my in-laws finish the project that was simple but still something we would have to drive out to finish from the Bay Area. Arrived same day within an hour! While checking the plugs and breakers he found areas that were incorrectly wired or one that was loose and arcing. So much for the home inspection done when we purchased the house! And so much for a previous electrician I had out there. Don't they test? Tony fixed everything for a basic fee. Thanks!

I am very happy with the service that Tony Cortez provided, I needed a replacement bathroom fan installed that I could not do myself due to a recent foot injury. So I decided to turn to Yelp for recommendations Tony was the first one to respond which told me he was serious about doing the job, others lagged and days later responded to my posted in home work needs. So I had a good exchange with Tony of the work details. He arrived at my home wearing his face mask and got straight to work removing the existing bathroom fan heater unit, upon removing the old unit he found that there was no duct for proper evacuation of the exhaust fan to to outside of my home. Tony offered to come back later the same week and install duct work which he did and now I have a functioning bathroom fan thanks to Tony Cortez.

Tony did a great job in our condo. We had no existing overhead lighting he installed recessed lights, a pendant light and ceiling fans. He was fast and did great work. Tony told us there would be some holes in the drywall when he had to pull the wire, but when we saw the end result they were barely noticeable. He communicated great with us from the start and was able to come out and do the job within a week of initially speaking with him. Would hire him again and recommend for anyone looking for residential electrical work. Thank you!
