Growing up, I observed my father fix and restore various items in our household. If something was discarded as broken, he would rescue it and bring it back to life. One memorable Christmas, he handmade a Santa Claus in his sleigh, lit up, and displayed it on our roof! He was remarkably skilled and, in my eyes, a genius! I dreamed of being like him, but there was a hurdle—I was a girl! In the 1950s, that was a challenge, so I buried my aspirations and went to college. I graduated at the top of my high school class and ventured into Corporate America. During weekends and free time, I honed my skills in different trades. For three decades, I worked on home improvement projects of every size and eventually established my own business—Concierge Renovations.
