Horrifying experience with this business. RUN! Do not walk away from any contact with this business. Check them on the licensing board (using the owner's name of Reggie Stevenson) and you may note that the license is ""active."" However you will note that effective November 14th, 2013 he has an exemption for Workers Compensation reportedly because he has no employees. REALLY!?
However when you go to his website, there is no evidence that ANYTHING is other than business as usual for this guy. He did work for us and did NOT obtain permits for us which we discovered AFTER the fact. He was dishonest and withholding with information. He failed to return calls and came up with excuses for lapses while we were limping by on inadequate power. Our problems are STILL not resolved!
I do NOT like to negatively YELP people but I do not want some other soul to be suckered into what happened for us. The guy is polite, charming and leads you to believe that you are receiving high end work. Indeed what work IS done may be high quality . . . . ONCE it is actually done. However we signed a contract in JULY . . . this is JANUARY and our work has NOT BEEN COMPLETED nor is he even communicating with us.
We filed a complaint with the Licensing Board and even with that, it took a CATTLE prod to get their crew out to do some of the work remaining. Then they took off for the hills (so to speak.) We have AGAIN contacted the Licensing Board and threatened with litigation as we payed over $7000 in AUGUST but our work is not completed and there is no communication with the guy. If we had been jerks maybe the guy might not have done this. However I suspect that this is the way he is doing business now, for whatever reason.
Frankly I am disappointed on many levels as the guy is likable and I hate to see people screw up their businesses or hurt their business with a crappy review. However I do NOT want someone else to go through what we are experiencing. Do NOT patronize this guy unless you want to risk having an experience like ours. We are now waiting for further followup from the Licensing Board as they are reopening the case for us.

This business gave me inconsistent information with each person I spoke with. The business office told me they price based on the hour, while the electrician who came to our home told me they only do flat rates. So when I paid for a two hour rate, and the electrician's work only took an hour and 20 minutes, he refused to stay for 30 minutes to do small work around the house. I suspect he had to leave because he actually arrived 30 minutes late to my home, and most likely had to make his next appointment. I do not appreciate losing 30 minutes of work he could have done because he was late. When I asked the electrician why the office is telling customers that they do hourly rates, he told me, ""That's just what they say to offer you a quote, but no, it's a flat rate."" Funny, because Robert, the office staff, had in fact told me outright that yes, if you have extra work to do in the house and they finish in under two hours, they will do other work in the house for the remaining time.
We scheduled an appointment for the work to be done. The time changed several times (from noon, to 2:30, then 4:00), then finally when they showed up, they were unable to perform any work, but only gave us a quote. I was promised that they were perform the work the same day as the quote, and I had taken the day off of work, so naturally I was quite upset that I would have to take off a second day of work. I did speak to the owner, Reggie, who offered us a 20% discount for this inconvenience. Although we appreciated this, it seems that in the end, the electrician who did the install did not stay the full two hours because of this discount. I would have rather paid full price to have received an extra 30 minutes of work (we're talking $40). Or better yet, bought the yelp deal which was only $10 more than their discount.
Do you think I'll be able to hire another electrician for only 30 minutes at this point? Not likely. Do you think I could hire one for the $40 that I ""saved""? Not so much. I will have to pay at least $130 for another electrician to come at this point, since most electricians charge by the hour. This is what they have cost me.
The inconsistent policies and poor scheduling made this business very unpleasant to deal with. I will say that they did perform quality work, but the stress involved far outweighed it. They still could NOT tell me what their policy was on charging per hour vs. a flat rate after calling several times.

I was looking to remodel my home and went to yelp to find some references. I came across CityBay and after reading their reviews I thought I should give them a call. A really nice lady in the office, Cindy, I believe, answered the phone. I told her what I was looking to do and an estimator came out the next day. The bid was priced clearly so I said ""Let's do it!!""
CityBay was one of the main reasons this project turned out so great. I was so pleased because the staff communicated so well and their quality of work was refreshing!! I didn't feel cheated and as a first time home buyer doing a remodel and that was very important to me.
The same crew showed up ON TIME for all the days of service. They laid tarp and plastic protectors on all my furniture and they cleaned up after themselves everyday.
CityBay should get a 6th star for excellence!!
Thanks CityBay!!

I had a great experience with CityBay Electric. I've been slowly rehabbing my 1912 home and have worked with several contractors over that time including some other electricians. The thing that stood out about Reggie was he really listened and understood what I was trying to get done. Some of the other electricians I had encountered seemed to have this ""I've been doing this for 30 years and this is how I do it so don't tell me my business"" attitude, but not Reggie. His crew is also very easy to talk to.
As for the work, they did a great job. I just wanted a bunch of knob and tube outlets and lights updated, but they also brought every room up to code by adding additional outlets and they did it for the same price as other electricians had given me for just the existing outlets and lights.
Overall great experience.

I decided I really needed a hot tub and after finding a deal and pushing for a speedy delivery, I called City Bay to let me know the expense I should expect to have for such an item. The receptionist was super helpful, got me in touch with the owner and he stopped by later in the afternoon to take a look. THANK GOODNESS he did! We apparently don't have enough power to support the tub I wanted and I would have been sitting in a very cold tub, out a lot of money had City Bay not been so helpful. Thanks! Next time I have a fixable problem, I'll give you a call.

Reginald is a skilled and dedicated Electrician, it only makes sense that City Bay Electric's service engenders this much confidence. When I'm looking for good service I think of three things 1. Value 2. Efficiency 3.Professionalism. These are are the cornerstones of any service oriented business. Whenever I have electrical issues I have and will continue to use these guys for those three reasons.

For the married men out there let me share with you one piece of wisdom; If the wife isn't happy so will you. For mother's day I thought it would be sweet to replace our broken stove. Simple enough, right! Have the stove delivered and hire someone to plug the gas line and all is happy in our household. If only life could be so simple.
When the stove arrived I said to my neighbor, ""That sure is a big electric plug!"" to which he gasped and replied
""That is a 240 volt and you have a 120 volt, your wife is not going to have a stove for a few days""
""What the Pho!!"" I yelled!
This is when panic set in and I needed to get an electrician quick because the installer was coming tomorrow.
I called CityBay Electric and explained my situtation to the receptionist (Cynthia, I think). Long story short Reggie and his crew worked until 9pm to save my hid! They were meticulous and tested the new connection. It took them 6 hours to add a new 240 volt line in my house. Mind you my house is a 100 years old so I am sure there are some dead corpses they had to crawl over.
Give CityBay Electric a call, they are honest folks, hard workers and best of all you are using your money to help a minority own busines.

CityBay Electric is absolutely FABULOUS!!! Reggie, the owner actually answered the phone when I called for an appointment. He was thorough and very helpful. He had his secretary Cindy call me back to confirm my appointment and she was kind, friendly and clear on what I needed. I received an email conformation with my electricians name (Brandon)...which was super comforting. I really appreciated knowing who would be arriving to my home before the doorbell rings.
Cindy called to confirm the approx arrival time for Brandon, which was helpful so I could do some last minute running around. To my surprise, Brandon and Reggie (the owner) came to hook-up my wires for my new dryer; which is due to arrive later today and they were so WONDERFUL!!! We had great conversation while the work was being done and it was almost like chatting with friends. The job was done in no time and was able to use my Yelp coupon and 5% off for paying with cash.
I will definitely refer others and use them in the future. I HIGHLY recommend CityBay for any electrical service you may need.

CITYBAY ELECTRIC-FANTASTIC! My husband and I have used CityBay Electric on several occassions for electrical work and each time the work has been completed professionally and effieciently and without any problems. I've had recess-lightning, light fixtures (inside and outside our home), ceiling fans and minor electrical routing projects installed and completed at several locations. The cost is reasonable and I appreciate the customer service and suggestions/recommendation made when the team came out to oprovide a with a estimate of the costs.
Thank you CityBay-
A Satisfied and Retunning Customer

THANK YOU CITY BAY!! If you want a company who delivers what they advertise pick up the phone and give Reggie a call. Anyone knows when your doing a remodel of an older home (1950's) nothing goes as planned. It all started with a copper wire (exposed and attached under the sink to the shut off valves).
Reggie & Brandon promptly came out to my house to lend me their expertise. With them I didn't just get someone who wanted to make a quick buck but someone who had my best interest at heart. It makes a difference when you hire someone to do a job and they ENJOY what they do. You see it in their craft. The story ends with City Bay rewiring the whole kitchen...and later down the line the whole house.
Thanks again Reggie for being patient, explaining the process and keeping in touch during the whole ordeal.
Signed
""That 70's Baby""
