Todd did a bunch of work for us. He treated us well. He replaced our 2 electric panels, fixed switches and other items that simply made our electricity work better and/or better than it was prior. He does things the right way so that you get a good result that lasts, and doesn't take short cuts that others have done before him which were the causes of all of the issues he addressed. He is at the top of his craft.

My parents needed electrical repair so I searched the web and found a couple of local companies. Todd - Chaney Electric - was far more reasonable (and located in Carlsbad) so I went with Todd. I highly recommend Chaney Electric for anyone needing diagnosis and repair.
My parents power went out in their living room and patio area. It turns out that the cause was from a faulty outlet over the stove in the kitchen! The original installer (who installed the stove) connected to one of the living room wires and ran a new wire across the attic to provide power to the stove. When they did this they also installed an outlet above the stove. The diagnosis was difficult because the attic wires were covered with blown in insulation - so a quick peek in the attic just didn't work. Todd was able to track it down and repair the melted wire through his efforts and expertise. Job well done Chaney Electric!! Todd treated my parents very fairly and they're super happy with his work. We (my parents and I) highly recommend Chaney Electric. Five stars

I love Todd Chaney. He is a great electrician and a stand up guy too! I saw him stand up for a teller being verbally abused by another patron at my bank. He is such an honorable guy I knew he would be a trustworthy electrician. He was so nice when he came to do my electric work he even threw in some extra services as a wedding present to me and my husband. Fast service and very reasonably priced. I recommend him to all my friends and family!

One of my electrical sockets lit on fire one day, I called Chaney Electric as they were highly recommended to me by a close friend. They answered on my first attempt and had someone out to my house before the end of the day. They were able to assess the issue and fix everything on the spot! I was thoroughly impressed as I have had nothing but problems with electricians in the past. Oh my God this guy is like a dog with a bone! His own! I have never ever in my life met someone who is so tenacious! He will not stop until the job is done and only to your satisfaction. His level of professionalism is unmatched! I think he knows every contractor in the state of California in order that he can get your job done before anybody else and usually under budget! If you can, hire this guy!

A well respected, long time relationship my company once had with Chaney Electric is gone forever after the way I was just treated by whatever asshole is in charge of them now. My work used to use them for years and as far as I knew, was happy with the work we received, hence why we kept bringing them back.

Last job from them dates back to 2012, when I was just 3 years into my career, and again from my view of things, the relationship was great. Fast forward to now, we've had a complete change in staff, management etc, no current manager has ever had any history with Chaney. I'm the new facilities manager and needed an electrical job quoted, so I went through my files and found their information and decided to call them. (My work requires at least 3 bids, no matter what job it is we're doing, and these guys were next on my list).

What I was expecting to be a simple conversation to possibly set up that bid turned into a blatant personal attack from the hot head who answered the phone. Now keep in mind, I'm the new manager, have never once worked directly with this company, have no actual knowledge of any issues that apparently came up, and yet I was verbally attacked over something from the past that I had zero knowledge of. You'd think that maybe he'd take that into consideration right? Wrong. He didn't care who I was or how innocent I was. The way this man spoke to me, about me, about my place of employment is beyond shameful and the most unprofessional thing I've ever experienced.

I've worked construction and have dealt with some of the worst contractors imaginable, but this by far beats them all out. He accused me, and only me, of robbing people, stealing from people, hiring them for jobs and never paying them, and overall just ""screwing them over for years"". No matter how many times I tried to calm him down and at least try to give him an explanation, he wouldn't let me get a single word out. He put words in my mouth, and accused me of personally stealing from them and screwing him and his family over for years, when once again, I've never had a single conversation with this company until today.

To put the icing on the cake, he made a point to tell me that every opportunity he gets to tell people the ""truth"" about my work, he takes it and ""has made it his personal goal"" to bury our business. If you want to openly admit to committing defamation, be my guest. I just can't imagine holding a grudge for almost 10 years and then just unleashing hell the second I mentioned who I was.

All I wanted to do was get a single word in and try to at least apologize for whatever happened to him that made him feel so wronged, and if he had just taken a second to stop yelling at me, and give me that chance, maybe we could have gotten somewhere. My heart truly hurts for this man. I could never imagine living with so much hate built up for so many years. Move on and hold yourself to the higher standards your company was established on.

You told me I better never call you again, and that's fine. I can be just as, if not more harsh than you but I have no problem being the bigger man, so consider this my final contact. If my work really did burn bridges with you the way you've accused them, then for what it's worth, you have my deepest and sincerest apologies. It would have been so nice to say this over the phone if you had just given me 2 seconds and stopped hanging up on me. But why does someone else's mistake justify you treating me in such a rude and aggressive manner? That's where my issue is. What could have been resolved over a simple, mature conversation has resulted in a personal, unprofessional, unprovoked attack on someone who never had a single thing to do with whatever grudge you can't get over. I truly feel sorry for you, but will always wish you the best.

Chaney Electric fixed my outlets correctly and quickly. He even diagnosed a potential problem, so I am going to have him repair that as well. He was clear and showed me the problem and explained that it was a poor piece of equipment used in building my house in 1982. Having him diagnose a potential fire hazard is worth its weight in gold! My dog liked him too!
