This is the third time I have had the pleasure of getting service, with Alex. ALWAYS professional, courteous, efficient and effective. AND always on time! WOW I can go on and on, i just good things to say about C&B and Alex.

Never go with this company. Our builder used this company for installing security and before 1 year window sensors started falling off. But C&B denied to fix it by saying they won't fix until we subscribe to their monitoring service regardless the fact that they installed the sensors. What a jokee???? NEVER EVER DO BUSINESS WITH THESE PEOPLE!!

Unfortunately, there's no zero stars. I had contact with this company through the BBB quote application. They came out and viewed my house for a total re-wire; probably a $10-$20K job. The Service/Remodel Manager came out, and I suppose he was nice enough. He walked my house counting outlets and switches so he could generate the quote. When he was done, he said he needed to go back to the office and get with the people who quoted large jobs and they'd email me a quote later. That didn't seem unreasonable.
A few hours later, I received an email from the Service/Remodel Manager stating that his boss said, ""we need a blue print to bid the job..."" and that ""...while pulling a permit with the city, they will require one as well."" Also, ""I'm not sure if you are going to be spearheading the project or if you plan on hiring a general contractor..."" Well, since I made the call to the company, I stated exactly what I want, and I answered the door when you came, it shouldn't be a heavy lift to figure out that I don't plan on paying a general contractor to do what I just did...
Anyway, with my house being 40 years old and me being at least the 3rd owner, I clearly don't have copies of the blueprints. Unfortunately for C & B, they don't know that my wife works for the city and, guess what.... No blue prints are required for the permit. (For confirmation, see page 8 at http://www.cityoflewisville.com/Home/ShowDocument?id=6398)
When I told the Service/Remodel Manager that I didn't have any idea where to get a copy of the blueprints, he was more than happy to refer me to someone who can do the drawings for me if I would like. How incredibly nice of him to help me spend money that I don't need to spend; money in which he would likely get a kickback or commission from.
When I informed the Service/Remodel Manager that I had no intention of spending extra money for unnecessary blueprints or paying a general contractor to do things I can do myself and thanking him for coming out, I got, in my opinion, a very arrogant response.... A thumbs up. Seriously??? That may as well have been a middle finger.
So it seems that if you know what your talking about and they aren't able to bamboozle you in to spending a bunch of money that you don't need to spend, they're not interested in your having your business.

Be sure you get other bids for electrical work! Their bid was 3x higher (at over $3500) than every other bid we received! We are adding a laundry room, overhead light and an outdoor outlet all within the same space. The breaker box is easily accessible and right next to the space. I even took the Sheetrock off the wall for them to be able to get to the main panel more easily. The work has to be permitted, so the standard is set for all electricians. They weren't offering extras the other electricians weren't.

If you are looking for Security Systems and Monitoring, I would really do your homework before deciding on C&B. We have been a loyal customer of C&B Security since they installed our system in 2005. Our system recently went down, so we inquired about upgrading. With all the competition in this space, providers are installing systems for free and making up the difference on the monthly monitoring fee. C&B told us they would update our system and keypads for $325 and to install a door bell camera and two additional outdoor cameras would be another $1,300. This is the price given to a loyal customer of 13 years? I even offered to have them increase our monthly monitoring expense in order to reduce the upfront costs associated with the cameras, C&B declined ... huh?? I had to make multiple calls into the company to get answers, schedule appointments and discuss pricing as I rarely received calls back when promised. All in all, their systems are not bad in any way .... it is just their level of customer service and their genuine care and concern for their clients. One would think that a small, private company would be more focused on customer service. C&B, unfortunately, is not. I would strongly recommend one of the larger /national Home Security providers, even if that means a higher monthly monitoring cost.

Look elsewhere for security . . . .anywhere but here. Technicians are great, customer service is the worst! They outsource their security monitoring to another company; the the third-party does a great job monitoring but God forbid if something goes wrong with your system then you must rely on C&B to fix it and that is where the problems come in.
Imagine my surprise when I discovered that for 2 months my home had not been monitored but I was being charged for the monitoring service. They claim letters were sent out, letters that neither myself or my next door neighbor received, explaining that an upgrade would be necessary to maintain system functionality. They claim that as their client, it is my responsibility to test my system once a month, and that according to some section in the contract, I am not owed any refund compensation for the service that I paid for but did not receive. Total SCAM ARTISTS!
I was told they have thousands of customers and it would have been impossible for them to make a greater effort to contact each of them to inform them that they would require an upgrade to their system or else it may become inoperable. If that's they case, sounds like perhaps they shouldn't have thousands of customers seeing as how they do very, very little to actually service them.
Buy hey, you get what you pay for, right? Save yourself the headache and DO NOT sign with them or else you will live to regret the day you signed that contract.

I've always been skeptical of those three and four-hour blocks of time you have to wait for a service at your home and now I'm convinced they're a farce. We had C&B out for an issue with our breaker panel and was told if the problem continued they would have to come back and would need access behind our fridge, which is a 48"" Subzero. If you're familiar with Subzero, the built-ins are -not- easy to move. C&B technicians are not allowed to move anything blocking an outlet. Okay, that's fine. We contacted a mover to come out just to move the fridge. Of course we would have to pay for this service. I called C&B and was very pleasantly surprised that the company was willing to work with us on coordinating getting their technician to our home at the same time as the mover. I was told we would be first on the list in their 8-11 am window, that a technician could get to our house around 8:30-9:00 am. I even confirmed this the day before the scheduled appointment.
So, you can imagine my dismay when the mover arrived shortly after 8:30 am and the electrician hadn't shown up by 9:30. What time did someone from C&B get to our house? Not until 10:15 am. This, despite repeated calls to the company, when I was informed that it's just a ""window."" Well, if we were first on the list, what was the technician doing from 8-10 am?
Then, when he did arrive, lo and behold it was a bad breaker, which is what we thought it was! So the fridge apparently didn't need to be moved after all. But, we had to pay the mover additional money to come back and reinstall the fridge, and now we're also going to have to pay to have the wood floor repaired because the heavy fridge scraped the floor (okay, maybe that last part has nothing to do with C&B, but I'm ranting here). If C&B had shown up when they said they would, perhaps we wouldn't have had to move the fridge.
If you have an appt with C&B, you may as well go ahead and run those morning errands, go work out, go hang out at a coffee shop, because rest assured no one will show up until at least 10 am. It sounds like the morning window should be 10-11 am, not 8-11.

This outfit was the sub to install a simple 5.1 prewire in our new home.
I have never seen a more thoughtless dimwitted install in my life. Speakers placement was assanine. They just did sloppy, irresponsible work. And they have no intention of making it right with the builder.
If this is indicative of all of there services and I believe it is. Have hired a separate inspector to review all of their low voltage work and I fully expect problems down the road
FIND SOMEONE OTHER THAN C&B PLEASE!
We are just thankful they weren't the electrical contractor on our new home!

This review is for their security. If technology is important to you (i.e. being able to control your security system from an app) then you need to go elsewhere. They have one of the poorest apps I have ever used (and it is basically useless...that is when you can get it to work). I used another security company when I lived in Austin and they had a highly functional app. I should have know when I asked the salesperson what app they used and he proceeded to say ""oh I don't have it downloaded on this particular phone"" and couldn't tell me the name of it so I could look it up that I should have ran! My bad for signing a three year contract with a company that is clearly not up to speed with their competitors. On the bright side, only 35 more months and I can switch to a real security company!

Alex came out twice... once yesterday to replace two carbon monoxide detectors and then again today to replace five smoke detectors. (It was my fault that he didn't replace those yesterday... he did say that they needed replacing and, much to my chagrin, I declined) He squeezed us into his busy schedule and is very professional and personable. I would highly recommend C&B for any electrical work.
