Cate Electric is a shining light in a world where it is increasingly challenging to find ethical people to work with, people who keep their word and demonstrate genuine expertise, real value, and superb customer service and responsiveness.
Cate Electric was highly recommended to us after we had a near-electrical fire and had some negative experiences with other electricians. Mike correctly diagnosed our issue and connected us to PG&E for an emergency crew to respond to our home to address a dangerous situation after hours. He then quickly took care of the repairs and everything else needed to get our power restored and ensure our safety and ability to do things like turn on the heat and lights and cook a hot meal.
Other electricians we attempted to work with misdiagnosed the issue, missed appointments, promised, and did not deliver quotes, and one insisted we get extensive electrical work done that it turns out we did not need.
Mike and Cate Electric had one goal in mind: our safety. They demonstrated this over and over every step of the way and their services are reasonable and a fair value.
I highly recommend this respected business for any electrical need.

Cate Electrical has been in business for a long time, and it's easy to see why. They are very thorough and professional. Be patient in trying to book them, because they are often busy.

I had them install a 30A 240v EV charger, and they did a very professional job that other electricians were not willing to take on, or claimed that we'd have to trench the street to put in new under-street conduit.

Slow to respond to phone calls for an appointment. Once scheduled, after several back and forths, I was stood up. Electrician said he was delayed on another job but never called. Poor service. They seem overwhelmed and unable to manage or communicate effectively.

Can't say enough about Mike and Cate Electric. He came over 2 days before Christmas to help me out of a MAJOR jam. I was without power because of an electrical problem and he came over at 5pm to help me. He's good people and genuine too. He talked with me and my kids while he fixed our problem. While doing our home inspections for our new home, we needed an electrical inspection since the home was built in 1940. A friend recommended Cate Electric for the inspection. It was well worth the money as we were given a credit on closing costs because of the expert inspection which included an itemized estimate that we presented to the seller. Thereafter, we hired Cate Electric to do the needed upgrades to make sure the property was safe. I even asked for help installing two mini track lights and a ceiling fan in a room we upgraded. I asked Jud if the adds were a problem--he said ""my goal is to get you at or below the estimate."" He did and then some. As well, Mike Cate called me up later to review the completed work. He noted a few items were overlooked so he sent Jud and Leo back out to complete those items. I actually forgot about them. So we had two visits totaling 2.5 days of labor. We still came in $680 under estimate. Cate Electric understood we were budget conscious and also concerned about electrical safety. Mike and his team ensured we were very confident in both areas. They will have my business in the future.
