My daughter's hot water heater went out, and she called Casteel. They said her water heater was not up to code. They charged her $3000.00 to replace it. I repeat $3000.00! She did not have that much money, so I had to pay for it.

They use the same copper water lines, the same duct work, the same gas line and added a pan under the new 40 gallon tank. I never did find out what was not up to code. Nothing looks any different.

So you might want to get an estimate first and then get a second opinion.

If Casteel would like to justify this and explain this to me, Fine. They can contact me via email [email protected]

Hello, I just had my winter furnace tune-up with Casteel technician. The technician reviewed both of my systems and stated that he couldn't fix 1 unit because there was no power going to the unit. Unfortunately, he didn't know which wires were powering the unit because he didn't know how the wires even connected to that unit. The technician wasn't intelligent enough to know how the wire started at the wall and traveled across a beam to the unit. The technician inspected the second unit and stated that the transmitter was working. The transmitter part retails online for $15 (24v 40va) and he gave me a replacement estimate of $590. Then, I basically told him that what he was quoting was not legal and he stated that I was paying for his expertise. He then called his manager and said his Casteel manager would allow him to reduce the price to $330 for the installation plus the visit charge of $59. Casteel, as a company, is a disgrace and I would warn anyone choosing to get an estimate from Casteel to go elsewhere because what they are doing isn't legal in my opinion. In closing, the technician wasn't even kind enough to pickup his mess after traveling through my house. Casteel is the worst company I have ever dealt with and I am providing this post so that other customers with similar experiences know that it is ok to tell the truth about Casteel.

Casteel responded online to my complaint and never actually tried to make things right. The supervisor, Justin Hill (if he really exists), left me a message and never responded to my 10 calls over the past two days. The only thing I can assume is that Casteel is no better than a fly-by-night contracting company and shouldn't be allowed to conduct business in any state. I hope that anyone reading this post realizes that Casteel is not a professional organization and employs managers and serviceman which have no credibility or integrity. I learned a good lesson today about Casteel and will be sure to tell everyone I know about the worst HVAC company in the South, Casteel.

Stay away from Casteel Air & Heating. I contacted them to replace my HVAC system that burnt from a lightning strike in 2023. My son had used them about 20 yrs ago. Since they did a great job what could go wrong.
Casteel has been out 9 times and still have issues with the irregular temperature in the house, the motor burned in AC unit after just 11 months. No AC for 4 days!!! The last technician, visit 10, was extremely apologetic when he advised me that the duct work was NOT installed properly. That Casteel would have to send ANOTHER pair of installers to correct!! All along i had been saying the air was not cooling the house properly, that possibly the ducts were not installed properly....and here were are!!

Its been 8days. I guess he thinks I'm going to go away.

I wish I could give them more than 5 stars. Two other companies came out and quoted me higher prices to fix one part of my AC system than Casteel did to replace the entire thing. And Casteel's comes with a 10 year parts AND labor warranty. They came out the VERY NEXT day and installed it. Every member of their team from service to salesman was incredible to me and my dog! They're even actively arranging for an inspector to come check their work to make sure it's up to code. Who else does that?! I will absolutely recommend them. Great company!

Watching a once fine service company fail miserably.
As a HVAC customer for 13 years Casteel exceeded my expectations and I have purchased 3 new HVAC systems from them over the years. Since expanding into electrical and plumbing they have failed miserably across all of their service segments requiring repeated callbacks to fix shoddy work.
After installing can lights in a finished ceiling I realized that the electrician tore right through the AC duct work and the ceiling became moldy through condensation. Their HVAC tech repaired the ductwork but created more unavoidable damage in the process. To date Casteel has been either non-responsive to my service requests or simply cancels the appt as they jut did a few minutes ago as the tech has called out sick on this beautiful Sunday morning. Go figure.

My HVAC system was short cycling. That means it was turning on and off every two-three minutes. I was under contract for service with CoolRay. I had a total of 7 service calls over the course of one week. Two service techs said nothing was wrong. Finally a third said I needed a Damper Motor so he ordered one. The next day another person came and installed it. It cost $685. I told her I would not pay for it until I was sure that it was working correctly....It was not....She left and the system was still short cycling. One more tech came and could not fine anything wrong with the system!. On Saturday I was on my 7th technician from CoolRay. He decided that the HVAC system needed a new thermostat upstairs so replaced that for $265. He left and the system was still short cycling. So I had a total of 7 Coolray techs in my home over 6 days my system was not fixed. I called Casteel on Sunday afternoon and explained the situation. On Monday they sent Michael Frye to my home. He found that the Damper Motor had not been installed correctly and therefore was not opening and closing the damper....He ordered a new motor. He was back on Tuesday. He put the motor in. I paid him for the motor as well as a one year service contract on my home....Good Bye Coolray. Don't let the door hit you on the way out. I love Casteel!

THEY SUCK!! I bought a 20K Lennox system not yet a year old, and it has been leaking water in my basement since it was installed. Ten technicians have come to my home since May 9th, 2024. The unit is still leaking. All the insulation inside is soaking wet. I'm sure we are breathing mold and mildew in our home. You cannot reach a supervisor or anyone in management. The switchboard operators will not forward you to their superiors. I wish I could go with someone else but that voids my warranty.

I called Casteel after trying several other local electrical services on an emergency basis. Supporting local small businesses has always been a goal but no one could come out quickly. But Casteel did, in the form of Travis, who was professioanl, personable, and highly qualified to diagnose and help solve all the problems stemming from the outage. Prices were bracing initially but in all honesty it had been a while since technical help was required here so I was sort of out of touch. No complaints at all, and Kudos to the company for hiring such an ambassador as Travis.

Terrible Experience! Beware. My neighbor recommended Casteel. After I gave her and her husband my feedback, they were so embarrassed and decided no more business or referrals for this company. The first technicians at my house didn't do the service I paid for. I was tricked into believing they did. My house was very cool for only four days. I called Casteel and asked for the manager. Didn't get a response until I called again the next day. The manager, Justin, sent a tech supervisor who did a leak search and gave me a quote. They agreed to deduct the money I already paid from the first service. I researched the cost for parts and labor. The quote I received was so inflated.

The worst part of this experience was the tech supervisor left my house feeling hotter than when he came in and the attic door was wide open. He didn't close the door or clean up. That was unprofessional. Before he came, the inside temperature of my house was 77 degrees. Low cool air with low velocity was blowing from the vents. However, he turned off the AC in the attic, reset it and hot air started blowing after he left. The inside temperature rose to 82 degrees. I had to turn off all thermostats. It's still 82 degrees and uncomfortable for sleeping. As soon as I discovered the house was getting hotter, I called and asked for Justin (the manager) a little after 4:00 pm. Dispatch said he was gone for the day and no one else could help.

I wasted valuable time (days) and money with Casteel, so I called another HVAC company. A company listed in the ""Best Pick Reports - 2024"", ""Verified Home Services - 2024"" and ""TrustDALE Certified Services Guide"" books. I spoke with the manager and shared my disappointing experience with Casteel. He gave me some advice and a price range for parts and labor. On the higher end, Casteel's quote was $2,000 more. That's to replace an evaporator coil. He's sending a technician to my house for the next day to review the equipment and order the parts. They will also help get the house cool while I wait for the service to be completed. I work from home so it's extra important to be comfortable (and not sweating) as much as possible. No one - especially single ladies - should trust Casteel. They are a rip off.
