5 Stars! Javier came out quickly after I had made a call to fix the light fixture in my kitchen after it had unexpectedly blown out. He is honest and explained my options in an easy to understand manner. Within two hours, I had brand new lighting in my kitchen. Very reliable family business with his son. Good to see local people doing high quality work. I will call him again the next time I have electrical work that needs to be done in my home.

I needed his electrical service for a kiosk at a mall on short notice and he would try his best to make it, and he did. He even helped us with setting up our Kiosk due to time constraints. Both father and son came by to diagnose our issues: 3 electrical outlets were not functioning & a light switch in the garage stopped working all of a sudden. They quickly diagnosed the problems and fixed everything within a reasonable amount of time. I'll definitely be contacting them again for future projects.

Javier and his son were awesome! My wife and I recently moved into a house and we needed to replace a whole bunch of messed up light switches, dimmers, and a few other little things. Not only were they prompt in the arrival time they gave me, they were friendly and professional. Also, their pricing is totally fair. Javier and his sons did a fantastic job helping us with our kitchen remodel. They installed 9 recessed lights on three switches, 7 electrical outlets, a new circuit breaker and service for our relocated refrigerator. They completed all of the work in one day and were very professional. Would not hesitate to use them again.

The power in my whole house was out, and he and his son came out same day and quickly diagnosed the problem, and even though it was an HOA and Edison issue they made sure that I was set up to have the problem fixed. He was even willing to talk to both the HOA and Edison to fully explain the problem! Saved the day!! Much appreciated!

Cardenas Electric did not fail me. From the very start, (coming over for a quote) to the actual installation date, work was done professionally and diligently. Father and son team (Javier and Gabriel, respectfully), worked together flawlessly and showed caution around their surroundings. We had ceilings fans installed and an outlet installed behind our wall mounted flat screen t.v. From this time forth, this will be our electricians to go to. Great work team Cardenas.

This review is for only for Javier at Cardenas Electric since I only dealt with him alone. I used Javier mainly for the task to trouble shoot the outlets shorting out in one of my bedroom. In addition, since 3 of our bedrooms are on the same circuit breakers and I plan to have portable AC running in each room simultaneously I described the job in details to Javier that I need an outlet dedicated in each of the bedrooms and they need to be in separated circuit breaker. Javier took a look at my house circuit panel to make sure that there are still 3 available spaces for this task and took the job for the negotiated price. After we agreed on the phone about the price and the date (Saturday is when I'm available), I called him on the Friday, the day before the appointment, to make sure we'll meet on the following day, Javier told me that since I mentioned that I was out of town and so he didn't think I would be available for the appointment and therefore he didn't put me on his schedule for that Saturday. I didn't want to argue much so I re-schedule for the following Saturday, again I called him on the following Friday to confirm the meeting the following day, well this time Javier said that since I didn't call him back right after we talked to confirm the schedule, he again didn't add me to his schedule for this time either. I'm a bit frustrated with the way Javier twisting his words so I asked him what he wants to get this job schedule? He said that the only time available is on Wednesday of the following week which I'm on travel on that week. Because of my work schedule, I asked my son to stay home and meet Javier instead and so they met and he left after couple hours of work. As soon as he left, he start calling me for payment and the amount he is asking is about $100 more than our agreement and as I reminded him, he back tracked his words with ""Yes , you are correct, I'm sorry..."". Anyway, I mailed him the check right after our phone conversation and by the time I got back in town (which is couple days), Javier has cashed the check. As I inspected his work, looks like he only installed one circuit breaker (not 3 as we agreed) and have all three bedroom outlets connected to the same circuit breaker and as soon as I turn on 2 portable A/C, the circuit break tripped. This is obviously not acceptable and I placed a call to Javier for some explanation. After a few phone calls, I was able to catch Javier and described the problem and our agreement. Right of bat, Javier started twisted his words and mine again. He kept saying that we've talked about 3 breakers but since I'm too cheap to afford, so I advised him to install this way. But I told him that I have described in details about running 3 portable A/C at the same times and that required 3 separate breakers not only one. Javier replied that it would cost much more to do that. At this point I realized Javier is not a very honest electrician but a crook who is running around trying to get an estimate by giving false promise to customer knowing that he would do the work much less than he promised, twisting customer's words and put the blames on customer as being cheap. Lastly I mentioned to Javier that I got his contact from YELP.com and I would report the whole incidence as a feedback on Yelp.com and Javier's response was ""just go ahead..."". Obviously, he wouldn't response as such if he didn't cash my check.

This exactly what happened to me when I dealt with Javier. I see a lot of positive comments on Yelp for him but my experience is quite opposite and I felt obligated to reveal my experience so people may have enough info to make their decision prior to hiring this person. My main suggestion for people who want to protect themselves is to have a written contract that spelled exactly their expectation including the scheduled appointment dates so that Javier won't twisted his words to screw up people time and money. Javier is one of the most honest and fair business people we have done business with in a long time. His prices are FAIR. He and his son Gabriel do quality work and do the work efficiently.
