I'm upgrading the rating here a bit because we had Calvin make it to our office to take a look at our door setup. It turns out everything is in working order and our expectations of what the equipment was supposed to do was off.

As far as the equipment, setup, and knowledge around this stuff, these guys probably really know what they are doing. The response time is the biggest issue, unfortunately.

Our landlord found Cali Communications & Wiring, but after five previous contractors couldn't repair or replace our building's old intercom system. Calvin Laporte-Anderson was just here, having finished the installation and showing me how our new/updated intercom works. Thank you!

I probably should've known when he didn't show up on the first day and didn't get back to me until a week later and he said he'd been waiting on parts. Then he was 3-4 hours late every single day, and after a week or so, there were a few times he just didn't show up all together, ignoring texts and even my emails started to bounce.

After almost four weeks of pulling teeth, barely half the job was done. And what he did complete, was not done well - the intercom is crooked, he lost the special security screws, there are holes in our nice door where he couldn't successfully install the maglock.

The maglock experts I brought in after him told me his work was not well done and not even up to code, so basically if anybody is to finish the job, they'll have to undo his work first.

The price seems right, but the professionalism and workmanship just isn't worth the headache.

We found Calvin from Cali Communications & Wiring after we were terrorized by a neighborhood bully who was vandalizing our property following an assault and vehicle damage.
We always wanted a video surveillance system protecting our home and this was the catalyst that moved this task to the top of our list.
After a quick search on Yelp, I found his father's business at the top of the search and called.
He stated he was directing work like ours to his son and gave me Calvin's number.
As soon as I shared my problem with Calvin, he called me back with an emergency solution to get the cameras up and running that very night!
He arrived at 6pm and by 9pm he had four cameras installed and protecting us with views that allowed us some sleep and assurance that we would catch this punk.
The cameras did their job, he was caught, arrested, and has not been back in four months.
(Of course our SF DA did nothing with the overwhelming evidence and dropped the case!)
Fast forward to today and our home was finally painted and we wanted additional cameras installed.
He and his assistant Andre worked tirelessly to run some upgraded, better wiring along with a cleaner way he tucked away the strands from view.
He blames his OCD for wanting to get it right!
HE GOT IT RIGHT!

His mild mannered approach, along with a competent & efficient work ethic, made this experience all worthwhile.
