Founded in 1955, Brookline Electric Inc. was created by Mr. John Brookman. In 1970, I applied for a position at the IBEW local 6 union hall and was placed at Brookline Electric Inc. John discovered my passion for old knob & tube wiring and said, ""SUPER!"" so I got started.

John's brother served as the foreman. They worked well together. No detail went unnoticed by them. We undertook a significant project to rewire a large building after a fire incident. I remember being sidetracked by the Watergate hearings on the television in the office; it was quite some time back.

John was diagnosed with cancer in the early 1990s and put the business into a trust. Rick Brookman, his son, assumed control and eventually sold it to David Belisle's father. David was among the top electricians at Brookline Electric. John and his family operated the business for a number of years.

In September 1994, I acquired Brookline Electric Co. to expand my business. While it didn’t double, I did see an increase in business. I have been the owner ever since.

I have used Brookline several times. Mr Peters has always been prompt and courteous. He tries to give you instructions to fix the problem yourself before coming out which is impressive given the cost of electrical work. Recently he came over for an annoying and frequently recurring problem and quickly suggested a permanent solution that has saved us a lot of headaches. He seems like an affable guy as well. Great work all told.

I couldn't get in touch with my contractor so I called Brookline and they came over quickly and gave me a temporary fix. They also told me that my meter was no longer sold and that I would have to buy a new one. The next day my contractor came, immediately found that I did not have to order a new meter (100's of dollars of savings). Brookline charged $160 for an hour of work. Expensive and not thorough in finding an affordable solution. Would not recommend.

I tried getting quotes out of a couple of other electricians, but the best I could get was pretty vague about what the cost would be. Brookline will give you a very detailed itemized quote, and if the costs exceed the quote, you will be able to tell exactly what it was for and what it costs. Their work is extremely high quality, and they always maintain a professional attitude - and the work was done on schedule, which was really important because we had other contractors on the job as well. I give them 4 stars, which I consider really high (there's got to be a 5th star out there for everyone to strive for).

John Peters, owner of Brookline Aries, came to our building after hours to deal with an electrical system which had burned out. No other electrician we called was immediately available. He addressed the problem efficiently and was able to repair it, returning us to electricity. We were very impressed with his knowledge and effective service. We will always call on him for electrical needs and recommend him highly. Lee Zeigler, Co-President, Homeowners Association.

Brookline Electric took care of some electrical problems for one of my listings. A previous electrician told us that it would cost $1,000 dollars to fix the problems. Brookline came out and fix all the problems for $200 dollars. They were honest, courteous and helpful!

I called to set up a job and talked to John. Through a few simple questions, he determined that I didn't need an electrician to come out. We are getting a new washer and dryer, so we were going to have the electrical updated for a 220V plug for the dryer. He had me go check to make sure our current dryer wasn't gas.... and it is.... So he saved me money!!! This was a pleasant surprise... So, he'll be the first person I call for my electrical needs in the future.

This is a very laid back but highly professional company. John, the owner, responded quickly and we did a walkthrough of my 1937 SF home. He listened to my needs & concerns and explained in detail what was involved, how long we could expect the electrical upgrades would take and got an estimate to me quickly via email. Once we set a date his office staff was very efficient in providing us with progress reports via email...backed up by a phone call.

The crew was very professional, polite, neat & efficient...and they cleaned up at the end of every day. I felt involved in every aspect of the upgrade and they didn't hesitate to answer my questions & concerns. The work was done under a city permit and the final walkthrough with the inspector went very smoothly with no contingencies on Brookline's work.

After all was completed I had a question regarding a certain circuit & John promptly called me to clear up my concerns.

I highly recommend Brookline Aries and would not hesitate to call him for further upgrades as they arise.

The electric service box with the fuse breakers and meter had a short and my house was without electricity on a saturday afternoon. After calling about 8 electric companies I reached a recording at Brookline Electric, saying for emergencies to call John's cell phone. He answered the call and came over in person to do a temporary repair.

I've since had his company replace the electric service and bring some of my house's old wiring into code compliance. The city inspector came and everything went well.

Quality of the work was excellent. New outlets, new conduits, new light switches, new doorbell, and they even hung a chandelier.

We had a list of 4 things to be done.
Brookline came over, charged $60 for an estimate (always a BAD SIGN) and coughed up a Five Thousand Dollar estimate to do a day's worth of work. We laughed at them and said no thank you.

I would be willing to bet they do superb and meticulous work. But you'll pay a premium for it.
