Mimi S.I called on a Saturday afternoon because one particular circuit was intermittently not working....and it affected the kitchen and refrigerator. The tech arrived promptly the next morning, was polite and diligent in his work, even moving the refrigerator to have a look at the plug behind it. Eventually, the main culprit was a bad 20 amp single pole circuit breaker that the tech replaced with a new one. When I went to pay the bill, imagine my surprise and dismay to find an item charge of 225 dollars for a part that is a $3.85 item at Home Depot. Prices varied on different breakers, but even their most expensive breaker with a ground fault button on it was only about 40 bucks. I can see where a contractor's markup will be a somewhat higher than what a consumer will be paying for it, but not THAT much. I even remarked about the cost of the part to the tech and asked why it was so expensive. He told me that there was a built in ""Company warranty"" built into the price. Not sure if that covered just replacing the part or if it also covers the service call charge and labor charge. The 225 dollar breaker did not fix the problem, so I will be needing a lot more work, but now I am not confident that I will be charged fairly for it by this company. I feel like I have been taken advantage of, and should look for another company.
And by the way, I called them back to tell them that the problem still existed and they recommended that i replace all the receptacles on that circuit at a cost of 30$ per receptacle. The guy on the phone said he'd see if he could get me a better price because there were so many of them. At 30 bucks a pop, and 43 receptacles, that cost should have been 1290 dollars. Well....when the guy called back, he told me they'd do all of it for 3200 dollars. Holy WTF! I guess he what he meant by ""better price"" was a better price for the company.
Man, I really wish I didn't have to do this, because my initial impression was so great. Our air conditioning system was turning off and on erratically, and always seemed to get worse when it was really hot. It was the weekend, and our original installer (south coast) was not available. Briko was quick to respond, reasonably priced, and the tech they sent (Rami) was very nice and seemed smart. Their diagnosis was that my thermostat was malfunctioning and I should get a new one, and if that wasn't the source of the problem, then the problem was a malfunctioning control board in the furnace, which is a warranty claim that the original installer should handle.
So I ordered a new thermostat... initially it looked like it would work, but after half an hour, it reverted to the same behavior. So I uninstalled the thermostat, returned it, installed the old one myself, and called Briko again. They confirmed it had to be the control board. So I called South Coast back on Monday and they came out to look at it Tuesday. Within 10 seconds, they diagnosed the problem as a backed up drain line because there was a mechanical float switch prominently displayed on the front of the unit that floats when the line is not draining properly. This interrupts the power supply to the system and is one of the more common issues they have to deal with. So he vacuumed out the drain line, put some algae killer pills in there, and problem solved!
So look, mistakes happen, and I wasn't going to post this because they were otherwise so good. But this was clearly a bad diagnosis, and they should have returned my money right away. Instead I have spent the last three weeks trying to get them to refund the money and they have not been responsive. I called them and they said send receipts. I emailed them receipts of both bills with diagnoses that make it crystal clear they were wrong. They did not respond, so I called again. They said they got it but it was being reviewed. Emailed twice since then with no response. So I had to dispute with my credit card company and write this PITA review.
Sorry guys. Be more responsive to your customers next time. This issue was legit, and it really bums me out to write this.
Danielle R.I had Briko replace and upgrade my main panel after calling for a plug that wasn't working we discovered my main panel was melting and not up to code. He was very clear, fair priced, and responsive. Briko did a great job and made some awesome money saving suggestions.
Thank you Rami from Briko electrical!
Angelo N.I own The Edge Mediterranean Grill in spring valley and had my 4 year anniversary event. My air conditioner stopped working, it's 8pm, and the only company who picked up my phone call was Briko.
I called and Andrew picked up. He asked me some questions over the phone to see if he could tell me how to fix it over the phone. Unfortunately he couldn't and said he could have someone here in 30 Minutes.
20 minutes later, Edgar showed up and troubleshooted the issue. It turned out to be a fuse. He replaced it and everything started working again.
What I was really impressed with this company is that they were very professional from start to finish. Edgar showed up in a professional vehicle and fully in uniform. He explained everything he was going to do. Once he found the problem, he explained that it was a simple fix and the reason the fuse blew was because the system needed to be serviced.
Thank you Edgar and Andrew for saving my Event. I will be using you guys again.
I had these guys come our for a quote in replacing my electrical panel. The price was ok. Then I asked for a quote on replacing some old breakers because they were an immediate issue. The guy told me he'd get back to me in the afternoon and never did. I texted and never heard back. He seemed annoyed I didn't sign up on the spot for the panel replacement.
He told me the breakers I needed replaced were extremely hard to find. I found them on amazon, has them shipped and has another electrician install in 3 days.
Still haven't heard back from these guys.
Super bowl Sunday and the only company that would come out on a hot evening. Called the office and they were quick to send out Edgar. 30 minutes later and my AC was working. Great company and fast response. They were especially fair with the price. I will definitely be using them again!
Calvin Z.The heater in my home broke so I called around and the earliest any tech can come out was after New Years, until I reached out to Briko. Thank god I found this company. They were able to make it out at 9pm and fix the problem within minutes. Rick was super friendly and got my heater working. Now my family and I are not freezing! Thanks Briko
I called Briko during the holiday season. They were the only company that would make the extra effort to fit me in during that time. Briko even arrived earlier than expected. I had broken my furnace while trying to install a new thermostat. Briko diagnosed the problem within seconds and was able to find that my transformer needed replacing. They took the extra time to find the more affordable part and ensured it worked. Briko then went a step further and found the wiring problem that wasn't allowing my new thermostat to function properly. After which, they explained how to resolve the problem through the most cost effective means. To top they gave me the most reasonable price I've ever received from a company. Briko truly wants to help their customers and shows it through professionalism and results. Will use again and give my highest possible recommendation.
kim n.I was in desperate need of an AC repair today and Rami/Briko was so quick to help. He arrived within a couple hours and was able to explain and show me exactly what the problem was, as well as take care of it right away. Super kind, professional, and helpful! I'd definitely recommend Briko to anyone looking for quick reliable and trustworthy service. Thanks, Rami!
Tina S.After calling 15 technicians on Labor Day weekend because our air conditioner broke, we were so happy that Briko could squeeze us in. The technician was very professional and knowledgeable. He was able to resolve a wiring issue and explained in layman's
terms what the issue was. Would highly recommend!
