Since 1932, Brea Electric has proudly been the oldest family-owned company in Brea, providing services to Orange County's homes and businesses.

Being fully licensed, insured, and bonded is something we take great pride in. We encourage all customers to do their due diligence and verify they are hiring a qualified contractor.

Our expertise lies in residential, commercial, and industrial electrical services, which include: Electrical troubleshooting, aluminum to copper wire pigtailing, ceiling fan installation, recessed fixture installation, landscape lighting, meter panel upgrades, breaker replacement, fuse replacement, 220-volt service installation and repair, EV car charger installation, rewiring, parking light installation and maintenance, sign service and repair, electrical work for home remodels, low voltage touch plate/relay systems, CAT 5, CAT 5e, CAT 3 wire installation, LCD flat screen and surround sound system installation, and more!

F.E. Hurtz and J.A. Leuzinger founded Brea Electric in 1919. In 1932, Frank Holly took full ownership of the business after initially acquiring it with two partners.

During the early 1950s, Brea Electric established its current location on Imperial Highway.

Don, Frank's son, recalls helping his father wire homes and businesses amid the construction boom of the 50s and 60s.

At just 14, Richard, Don's son, began accompanying his father on service calls. “Before I knew it, I was overseeing my own work and understanding blueprints,” Richard said, who became the owner at 29 after buying the business from his father in 1996.

Under Richard's leadership, Brea Electric has expanded its services to include wiring for home computers, home theaters, and sound systems, along with energy-efficient lighting.

Brea Electric is thought to be the longest-standing family-owned business in Brea. Richard Holly, the third-generation owner of Brea Electric Company, continues a unique legacy that has lasted over 80 years. Richard's grandfather, Frank, became a partner in the company in the late 1920s and became its sole owner in 1932.

In the late 1970s, Richard's father, Don Holly, took over the business. Having witnessed the dawn of the electronic age, Don installed numerous color TVs during the late 50s and early 60s. He recalled, “The children would be sitting there, hardly able to wait for the antenna to be connected so they could enjoy cartoons.”

Richard took over the business in 1996 and has made it more successful than ever in its long history. Richard noted, “I received calls from community members saying my grandfather wired their homes; I realized how significant it was to be a third-generation owner.”

Today, Richard's sons, Camden and Quintin, are gaining knowledge from their father to prepare for their future roles as the fourth generation of Brea Electric.

I manage a commercial property in Anaheim, and would never even consider another electrician. Richard and his team are diligent, honest and thorough. They make themselves available even in the most inconvenient circumstances, and never cease to be friendly and personable.

Richard and the Brea Electric team provided some much need TLC to our home both inside and out over the past few years.

They did some work for us in the backyard with some poolside lighting and did some work to help make hooking up our seasonal Christmas lights easier.

His team is always professional and is able to get the job done timely. Definitely would recommend them for any electric needs you may have. Always feel great supporting a family owned local business!

Over the years we've had 5 different electricians come to our home. None of them could solve our 'problem.' Brea electric came to our home and really investigated. I honestly felt like the electrician took our problem personally, he really wanted to solve the issue. After about an hour and a half he found the problem!! Something that the other 5 professionals couldn't do. Not only did he take his time, and found the root of our problem, he explained it once to me, then once again to my husband, who asked several questions. Not once was he irritated or annoyed, but was patient and professional. I highly recommend brea electric!

If you want a REAL QUALITY JOB DONE RICHARD AND HIS CREW ARE THE ONES. No BS told what they were going to do and how they were going to do it and it was even better than expected. Total professional guys clean wore booties in the house didnt even know they were here.

If you hire someone else your not gonna get nearly the quality these guys deliver.

Brea Electric did an excellent job for us.

1. Economical
2. Courteous
3. Timely
4. Excellent communication
5. Knowledgeable
6. Safety Conscious
They ran 2 new circuits, replaced and upgraded our electrical panel. Installed 3 ceiling fixtures (they had to crawl through attic to do so, and they even put the large awkward light fixtures up for us) Terry and Adam, the guys doing the work, were nice hardworking people. Richard the owner let us know he would have his crew be aware of our son and be careful with tools and make sure the gates were closed to keep our son safe - so thoughtful of him! He also stopped in to check on work in progress. They did a great job. A great quality company we highly recommend.

No thanks! Rude as can be and very demanding of immediate payment. Most business to business give at least 30 days net. Not dealing with them again!

Brea Electric has saved my husband and I with regard to our kitchen remodel. We have been extremely grateful at their showing up as soon as possible and taking care of our work with great care and reasonable prices. They have not only completed my entire kitchen but came back out when the cabinet company planned to run electrical that I was uncomfortable with--they are professional and helpful! As the daughter of a retired electrical contractor I can tell you Brea Electric is the best!!

I don't think I should even give Brea electric one star, since I didn't get the chance to work with them. I was a potential residential customer who needed an electrician to install a ceiling fan and some recessed lighting. I thought Brea Electric only did commercial work until I saw one of their ads. I reviewed their web site and was impressed with the Yelp rating and long family history of work in Brea. They seemed to be a very professional operation.

Since the ad and web site stated they did residential work I gave them a call. I talked to the office and let them know I needed an estimate on some electrical work. The next day I received a call from Richard (the owner) and I after I explained what I needed done, his first response was he was going on vacation and explained they didn't work after 5:00pm or on Saturday's. I explained to him I worked and wouldn't be available until after 5:00pm. He stated he was going on vacation again and needed to arrange for someone to come out and give me an estimate. I told him I was Ok with that even though he seemed to be put out about getting this arranged.

When I didn't get a call back the next day I called the office and left a message. Richard called back the next morning and said he would have Terry come out on Saturday to give me the estimate, and reminded me again they don't work after 5:00 or on Saturday's. When I questioned him about his companies hours and how they dealt with residential customers who work, he got upset, told me he didn't need this, and he will run his business the way he wanted to and then hung up. WOW!

Needless to say I was blown away with this response, especially since it came from the owner of the company. I hope that Richard was just having a bad day since this type of response was very un-professional. I don't feel I was out of line with my questioning and I'm sure Brea Electric does good work, but I don't think that Richard's father or grand father would be very happy with how he handled this situation. Enjoy your vacation Richard..... you really need it.
