The electric cooperative system is broken. There is no accountability because it is a socialist system with no competition. If you love high rates and poor service, keep voting for socialism.

10:15 pm and I can't report a power outage because I don't have my meter number. I can only get an out mated system and I'm not home to get the number off of the meter. Why is there not another way to report this?

I'm not sure if anyone will read this, but I feel like I should say a thing or two about this business for anyone considering using bowie-cass electric.

1. If you have another option in the area, USE IT. Unless you enjoy bouncing back and forth with a company that cares very little about it's customers. If however you like to wait for an average 10-15 minutes to speak with a person on the phone, this is definitely the company for you.

2. If you get conned into forcibly using this company due to lack of options, please heed this one piece of advice. DO NOT give them your credit card number unless you are prepared to have them use it everytime, doesn't matter if you need to use a different option. They will disregard it and continue to use the card, whether or not you've stated it as a one time use.

3. The employees are mostly incompetent, as obviously their training consisted of about 1-2 days of playing on what I assume to be a modified-for-business version of the LeapPad system my 4 year-old plays on. What I mean by this is don't expect anyone you talk to there to be able to answer any questions you might have that would consist of words exceeding 3-4 syllables. If you're forced to talk to one of these special-ed rejects, I have developed a series of key phrases that they'll more easily be able to recognize.
Like ""my power off"", ""bill no come in mail"", or the trickier one, ""I talk to manager"". Using the latter will net you an additional 10-15 minute waiting period. When you do get the ""manager"" (who obviously got to the use the modified-for-business LeapPad-Advance in his/her training), don't expect a different or more coherent resolution.

4. The response time for issues you may have will be a lengthy one. Moreover you can also expect random outages for maintenance, that you will never be informed of. So, if you have bowie-cass, you should not do the following. Leave food in your house, have children, pets or additional residents, and to be preemptive you should also remove any sunlight that would be on or around your residence.

5. The pricing, oh the pricing. I've use several different services in my day. None are more outrageous than that of bowie-cass. Expect on average 40-50% higher rates than normal companies. But it's not like we're in a recession. Truthfully, your surgery or child's braces can wait.



In short, well, not really short, but in conclusion. Most people who use bowie-cass (you know who you are) probably use them because they have no other choice. And honestly, bowie-cass knows it. So rather than provide a competitive service and competitive pricing, they are a essentially a small-time monopoly for a regional area. In no way shape or form would I recommend this company to my worst enemy let alone my friends or family.
