Bay Power And Lighting
Company Overview
We are one of the select companies that uphold integrity. Unfortunately, the term integrity has diminished in meaning for many contractors over time. It's not right for you to hold payment until the job's completion, anxious that the contractor may not return. We guarantee our work and will be available when you need us, as we are a trustworthy company. Although most licensed electricians can run wires, we strive to offer more than just standard quality. At Bay Power and Lighting, we commit to outstanding service. With over 14 years of expertise in electrical work, we are lucky to have ex-union electricians, along with a 2015 ex-electrical inspector who works with us. Our inspection pass rate stands at 99.8% for the last 95 jobs that required permits.

Recommended Customer Reviews

This company has been great to work with and we've worked with them on 4 occasions.
Twice for ceiling fixture installation inside our home, once for an outdoor fixture and once for a panel upgrade + external receptacle.
Their prices have always been fair, their service always efficient, profesional, high quality and courteous.

Overall: Mark is an expert electrician. He listens to what you want and offers efficient and cost effective solutions and designs. He is responsible and their price is fair. I can tell he really cares about his work. He is dependable and professional. When it comes to complicated electrical problems, you can always count on Bay Power and Lighting.
Bathroom vent installation: He recommended a dependable vent model and explained why it was important to get a better model for about the same price. I love learning and he and his team didn't mind explaining things to me while they were working. He and his team have a great attitude and respect their customers.
Ceiling fan installation: Though I didn't often use my outdoor ceiling fan/light, it broke after 3 years. Mark took great care in assembling the fan and installing it and making sure it was balanced. He told me the key to keeping a ceiling fan lasting a long time is ensure it's balanced.
Electrical outlets: My garbage disposal stopped working. Mark did a quick troubleshoot and determined the wiring went bad. My house is over 60 years old and the wiring probably was never upgraded. He fixed it quickly. I appreciate his responsiveness and expertise.
I highly recommend Bay Power and Lighting! Mark is very professional and honest, which is really hard to find in contractors.

I was having electrical problems in my whole house as if it was on a dimmer switch and none of the appliances worked properly because there was a lack of electricity. I called PG&E and they came out and yanked the power to our house. I did not expect them to do that. I was frantic because my fridge was full of food. I talked to Mark from Bay Lighting and Power and and I was able to set up a time for him to come by to do the repairs that PG&E asked for the same day. Mark was prompt and on time. He texted me prior to leaving his last job to let me know he was on his way. He was very knowledgeable and made the repair in a timely manner. He didn't just stop by to make the repair, he also checked my subpanel to make sure that it was safe and that there were no other problems that could have caused the original problem. He is very thorough. He also kept in contact with me to make sure my power was reconnected by PG&E. I really appreciated his outstanding customer service. I will definitely use Bay Lighting and Power again.

Shortly after writing the previous review, Bay Lighting and Power contacted me with a polite message apologizing for the way the situation was handled. Over a short sequence of emails, we exchanged our concerns about where we stood. Some common ground was reached, and we agreed that the best way forward was a new scope of electrical work. This would allow Bay Lighting and Power to offset their original cost, and allow me to walk away with some work done on my home.
Since the 200 amp upgrade was out of the question, I had asked to instead have installed a 220v 30a outlet in our garage, a 20a outlet next to our upstairs toilet, and to have a bit of troubleshooting work done to fix a botched 3-way switch in the master bedroom.
Bay Lighting and Power delivered. The work was completed promptly, as communicated, and to a degree of workmanship that I would expect. We have our 220v 30a outlet in the garage, our 20a outlet next to the toilet works dependably, and we finally have a normal functioning light switch in our master bedroom (one that doesn't turn off the bathroom lights at the same time!).
Based on the second experience alone, I would recommend Bay Lighting and Power. That said, I stand by my first review. It was a difficult situation and it caused my wife and me a lot of stress. Bay Lighting and Power does good work, but communication and customer service are important too. I'm glad we were able to turn things around, but I wish it hadn't been necessary.

Mark came and did all the lighting for our business and has helped out with lighting for our signs and banners. He did the work quickly and efficiently.
I would recommend Bay Power and
Lighting for anyone that is looking for an honest and hard-working electrician!

I hired Bay lighting and Power after my previous contractor failed to deliver the job. Mark and crew step in and took over the job. It was the whole house re-wire for an Eichler house. There is no attic or crawl space for Eichler houses that makes the whole project way more challenging. Mark did the new addition wiring mostly on the roof and for the existing section he mostly used the walls and the beams. He added a sub-panel in the garage to minimize number of penetration in the existing roof which reduced the overall cost of the project significantly. During the whole process he was patient and creative. We passed all the city inspections on the first try. Overall, I am very pleased with the quality of their work and great customer service. I highly recommend them for any electrical remodeling or new construction.

We hired Bay Lighting and Power to upgrade our main electrical panel, they sold us on using a quality Square D panel that was Solar ready and performing at least decent work. During scheduled day of install they ended up using a cheaper make that is not solar ready. Apparently this company doesn't believe in cleaning up and throwing away their garbage... I had to clean up after they finished the work. They damaged the sheet rock inside the house and did a hack job on the stucco to install it. Now I have to hire someone and pay to repair the mess they made. I Do Not recommend using this company-Handyman, they don't appear to know what they're doing!
Hire someone that knows what they're doing!

Bay Lighting and Power was recommended by a contractor who remodeled our back yard.
Absolutely great company, best service on electrical jobs I've seen in years! We worked with Mark, Frank and Alex. They were only supposed to install a new panel and wire the patio. We ended up hiring them for a load of work inside the house too. Mark explained all the price/quality options, diagnosed and fixed several additional issues we've had along the way. The office is very easy to contact, by email/phone, quick to reply and set up appointments.
Highly recommend.

My parents had their house re wired by these guys and they were really happy and referred me to them. My problem started with just my lights being out, after a while they found a burnt wire up in the attic. I was impressed that they went up in the attic and took the extra time to really find the problem and fix the wiring. Instead of just replacing the switch like I had done in the past. Im super scared that there might be more burning wiring up in my attic. I scheduled a follow up appointment with Mark
Thanks again!

We had our main electrical panel upgraded last week. Bay Lighting and Power left a mess in and out of our house. There are debris all other our yards and when I called them this morning to voice out our concern, the supervisor refused to remove some of the debris. One of the reasons given was there might be asbestos/hazardous materials. Seriously? If these are hazardous materials, why would you only informed us today and you think it is okay to leave all these hazardous materials in our yard openly just like that !
