Barden Electric

GFI Installation for toilet seat bidet

Leaping into the partly practical partly bougie world of the toilet seat bidet, we landed on the Alpha UX Pearl, a relatively slim unit to replace the stock seat on our new Toto Ultramax II. The new bidet warms the seat, preheats the water it shoots at your intensely personal areas, has a post-wash dryer and a night light; all of which can be adjusted in one fashion or another with the included remote. All of which require electricity.

The water closet in our primary bedroom suite did not have an electrical outlet, and neither did the wall near the toilet in the guest bath (we're all in on the toilet seat bidet; so much so that we want our guests to also have the opportunity to experience just-showered freshness), so it was time to call an electrician. We called Barden Electric because the owner, Lee Barden, and his family, go the same church as us.

We called and scheduled the appointment for 8am Friday. The electrician, Steve, arrived on time in a big white Barden Electric truck Once we explained what we wanted and Steve inspected the two spots we wanted the GFIs installed, he got to work.

To power the new outlet in the WC, Steve tapped into a switch in the hallway on the other side of the water closet, fished the wires down through the wall and installed the new GFI. Easy peasy. For him. Me, I could replace an old GFI outlet but would not feel comfortable reconfiguring wall switches or fishing wires through the wall. It was also reassuring to know that our existing electrical system could handle the power draw - we did not need a new circuit.

Steve followed a similar process installing the new GFI outlet in the guest bath: he found a preexisting outlet in the laundry room opposite where we wanted the new outlet, tapped into it and pulled wires through the wall to provide current to the new outlet. Simple for him, too tricky for me.

Steve arrived a little after eight and left a little after 11 that morning. He left the WC and guest bath clean and tidy, just as he found them, but with two new GFI outlets installed and showing solid green. Our intensely personal areas have never been so happy.

I recommend Barden Electric and will certainly call them when we have another issue requiring an electrician. We're planning a solar roof installation in a few years and that might require an electrical panel upgrade. We're definitely getting a bid from Barden Electric when the time comes.

July 2024.

I love Lee Barden and the electricians. Every time I turn the lights on in my house I am grateful to Barden's for finding an obscure problem that baffled us all. Thank you, Lee.
Your friend always............Carole Stevenson

This is a company made of crooks who overcharge. They id a job without my approval and overcharged me and furthermore made something that was working non functional. They refused to come to fix the problem they created. DO NOT USE this company.

Lee Barden did all the electrical work at the non-profit organization I work at--efficient and knowledgeable about all things electrical. Our office is small and supports lots of computers and electrical elements and all seems to be working well. I like that they're involved in the community and give back to non-profits and charity. Highly recommended.
