As a HOA with an account with Baker Brothers, we were not treated as a priority and have important electrical repairs required by the City of Plano. Several appointments scheduled were rescheduled and not once did our Account Manager reach out with any concerns. we are now looking for a new electrical contractor who views us as a priority.

I used Baker Bros for an AC maintenance then a second visit for plumbing repairs. The first visit, the tech sold me the ""Family Plan"". it seemed reasonable to pay a monthly fee and get discounts. However, he failed to tell me at the time it was a 12 month contract and if cancelled before then, I would have to pay the full 12 months plus pay back any discounts. I also did not see the contract until after the fact and it was emailed to me. This is a VERY shady way of doing business, as I am in sales myself and do contracts. The service was great but I couldn't help but feel like I was trying to be sold items or new equipment outside the scope of work that I called BB for. it's VERY apparent this company works off a commission or quota hungry structure. I was quoted $2,400 after the 15% family plan discount for a water heater replacement. I shopped out the bid and did not tell the other companies what BB proposed for cost and ALL of them came around $1,700 for a new water heater installation. I moved forward with another vendor with a Bradford White tank. They did the new water heater install, installed new hardware in two toilet tanks and fixed two clogged sinks for $1,800! This would've cost me $3k with BB. Needless to say, the techs need to show the agreement before signing up a client so they understand the stipulations but also BB pricing seems to be price gouging.

About 25 years ago, Baker Brothers was hired by our insurance company to repair a clogged sewer line to our kitchen (slab foundation). Slab foundation, home built in the late 70's, cast iron pipe, sewer on septic system.

They claimed they couldn't reach the kitchen due to a foundation beam being in the way and said they would have to run a separate line outside of our home.

In 2011, that line plugged up. I had just spent a month in a coma at Baylor (car wreck and subsequent nerve damage that limited use of my right arm).

I called Baker Bros back out figuring they knew their previous work. I had pretty much identified where the clog was, I just couldn't get it broken loose.

And neither could the Baker Bros tech. I agreed to the call charge, and I agreed to the additional charge to scope the pipe and locate the blockage - almost $200.00. I told the tech I didn't agree with his location, but OK, paid the charge.
Tech wrote me quotes to dig to and fix the clog, or to replace the line (which they had previously replaced with PVC as noted above).
BTW - those quotes ranged from, as I recall - $1000 to dig down to and fix, or $2000 to replace the line and install ""better clean-outs"".

I subsequently spent a day digging to the point the tech identified, no clog. I moved over and dug where I figured the leak was - and found when they replaced the kitchen line years earlier - they used a straight ""T"" and standard 90' (not a sweep T and 90) to connect to the septic system. The T had a threaded ""branch"" and was capped (why the didn't use a riser, even though it really could not have been used to clear a clog is beyond me).

Unscrewing the cap from the T, I found a rock had lodged in the straight 90 just after the T. Pushed it with my finger, it rolled down the short pipe to the septic tank and dropped in.
Knowing it wouldn't be practical, I put a riser into the T as opposed to a cap.

We have recently had to have foundation work done, to include total cast iron piping under the house replaced. Interior piers were installed in the area where the previously mentioned foundation beam was supposed to be.
No beam.
In the plumbing replacement, our current plumbers will be tunneling to replace the Baker Bros installed kitchen sewer line outside of our house and will pipe that line as it was when the house was built (primarily because we will be adding an addition to home in the area where the Baker Bros installed line was run.

And now that our current plumbers have dug down to the connections to the septic tank - they have found mis-alignments between the house and septic tank entry - something that wasn't caused due to ground shift or home movement.

I wouldn't write this lengthy review if Baker Bros had done nothing more than split the cost of their original service call which I had called them to ask for such on 3 different occasions over a 6 month period - ""we'll get back with you"" is all I heard from them (note, the rock in the line was our fault as the risers installed by Baker Bros were rubber capped and over 10-12 years had come off. The risers and line are in a flower bed, and stuff falls in when the caps are missing).
I was told at one point that the straight T was so they could pressure test the line to pass inspection.
And now after seeing the connections to the septic tank exposed, I don't think any of the work was inspected as the methods used to make the connection does not meet code.

I cringe every time a Baker Bros commercial airs.

If you choose to use them, good luck!

Quoted me at $1400 to change a shower valve. All I needed was a $25 shower cartridge and a $25 pressure balancing valve. Did the whole job myself for $50. dont go to these guys unless you know something big is wrong.

False advertising. Says up front pricing but will not tell you an approximate price to fix a sink that is backing up into a dishwasher over the phone. Milestone does. Call them instead.

These people are truly experts and highly professional. I had a broken sump pump and the basement was flooding. They came out on an emergency basis and replaced and fixed everything. Later, I had them come out and install a back-up pump, a process which required creative pipe engineering and testing. All went perfect.

They charged me $600 to install a sink (I had all parts), but when they quoted me an additional $1200 to replace and install a new garbage disposal I knew I had totally been ripped off. A new disposal will run you 200 or less, and about an hour on YouTube. Save your $!!!

I paid 39.99 for an A/C condenser making noise check. technician said that I needed a new condenser. I called another repair person and he replaced the capacitor and the problem was solved. They tried to sell me a new AC system. 7900$ for the condense or 11k or 12k for the condenser and the air handler/coil. Super disappointed at the very least but feel strongly that the technician just wanted to move me into sales. will never do business with this company again.

We had a wonderful experience with Baker Brothers. They are indeed more expensive than other similar companies. In fact, they gave us the highest bid of all the electricians we contacted. However, Baker Brothers were obviously more knowledgeable, experienced, and dedicated to following best practices (such as grounding the 60 year old house properly and removing aluminum wiring) than the other electricians we interviewed. Baker Brothers identified cheap shortcuts that a different company had performed on our power outlets that could have damaged equipment and appliances plugged into those outlets. They took the time to explain every item that needed to be fixed and what the proper repair methods should be. They sent a large team to get the job done in a single day. All members of the team were respectful, knowledgeable, and highly competent. We are happy with the outcome and we firmly believe we hired the right company.

I requested a plumber to replace a valve kit on 3 toilets. I figured get them all done even though only one needed it now. He and his helper ""inspect"" the toilets and he says, ""I can rebuild all 3 toilets for $760. What!? The valve is $18 on Amazon! It's a 15 minute job! Never mind. You can go. Ok. It will just be $39 for the trip charge. What a racket! Charge to drive 6 miles and do nothing! Estimate a ridiculous amount of money and call it a rebuild!? Never again!
