i have used Baker Brothers since we moved her to McKinney since this past May and I am not happy with tham as the time has gone on. They were quick but way over priced for the plumbing part for replacing 2 washer valves at $1100. If i knew that was the problem, I could have done that myself but that is way too high for a quick fix. Had them over for a few electricall issues. Prices are ok. But when plumber came over and told us about monthly plan we would get this and that we said ok. Part of it is check up on ac and heating. So called in July and told me it would be the end of Sept. why do I have to wait that long. The plumber told us to run it a few months then call and we did. We are trying to do pm to make sure we have no issues. The rep told me that was the earliest we can do but if he we have a problem to call them then they will send someone over. So we buy the program and ask for what's part of their program so they won't make money off of it? Now I have a feeling when they come over they will be looking for problems to charge us. I am wondering if this was a good idea.Again very pricy on plumbing issues.

My experience with Baker Brothers AC reinforced what my dad taught me; always get a second opinion.
My AC stopped working and Baker Brothers sent out a technician to assess the issue the same day I called. For this, they get the one star. The tech told me he replaced the capacitor, even using two different types, and that the capacitor was NOT the issue. He said the compressor was bad and the unit would need to be replaced due to the bad compressor and the age of the unit. He also informed me of the monthly membership I could purchase. A Baker Brothers estimator arrived shortly after and quoted me $15k for the low end replacement and $33k for the high end.
It just so happens that my next door neighbor had another HVAC company installing a new unit on the same day and I had them scheduled to look at my unit later that afternoon. I told the BB estimator I was getting a second estimate from the other company and he offered me a 5 percent discount if I contracted with him right then and there before he left my house. He also had negative things to say about the other company.
The owner from the other company, a local family-owned business, arrived shortly after to look at the unit. He replaced the capacitor and that FIXED the issue! There was nothing wrong with the compressor. It seems like this was a pretty standard fix so I'm not sure if the Baker Brothers technician was unqualified or if there may be an incentive to sell replacement products rather than fix the issue. My intuition tells me it was the later.
As a side note, I was fully prepared to install a new unit if needed as my unit is probably around 15 years old. When that day comes, I'll be calling the honest family-owned business out of Wylie and not Baker Brothers.

Recently I had to call Baker Brothers when we had some kind of short and our lights went out in a couple rooms. Wolfgang Kiess, AKA Wolf, came to our rescue. He was very familiar with the wacky wiring in old (50+) Fox and Jacobs houses, and it didn't take him long to solve and repair the problem. Wolf was knowledgeable, efficient, professional, and personable. He was also good at explaining what caused the problem so that I could understand. While he was here, we decided it was time to move the electrical panel from the food pantry (yes, the pantry-terrible place to put it, F&J!) to outside. We already knew that it was on our ""to do"" list, so we thought it prudent to have it done before we had a fire. Thank you also to Alex and Victor who came the very next day to move the electrical panel. A big job that they handled very proficiently. The city permits were already taken care of and the men were prepared to cut and remove about 3' of shrubbery to get to the wall of our house. Thanks to these courteous and very knowledgeable men the panel was carefully installed and the turn off switches for each room were tagged by them upon finishing. They cleaned up the inside and outside areas and were on their way. Thank you to the three fine Baker Brothers service technicians who did a fantastic job for us! I recommend them all highly.

Worst experience with Baker Brothers.. I called them for an emergency water leak from water heaters on friday around 2PM.. They told no one available now. On Saturday they can send someone. But I requested them its an emergency so need to control the water leak. They asked me 200$ for after hours service. I agreed them to pay that. Technician came and told me the water heater is done and need to replace it and they gave me an quote. then I told then until we replace that. Please shut the water to the heater and remove the clogging from drain pane so that water would not come in the house and it will prevent further damage. They did some work At the time water leak stopped , I thought we can go over option and replace the water heaters at Monday or Tuesday. Until then hot water will not be available thats ok considering the texas summer. But Saturday night the water leak again started I noticed it on Sunday morning only. Then I called the Baker Brothers as soon as I noticed the leak they took the call and told me they will look the availablity of technician to send me one right away and put me in a hold then after some time the call disconnected without proper response. I thought it could be due to bad network and they will return the call after some time. They didnt call me .. So after some time I called them and told my name they immediately disconnected. Then I called again they took my called and i need to repeat all the story then again they told they going to find someone to send to fix my problem asap and put my call on hold and after some time they told someone will show up on Monday morning around 9 AM. And told the they will charge me 39$ regular trip fee. I was not happy about that and told them why i need to pay the trip fee and after some arguments they agreed to waive the 39$ trip me for monday. But I asked them to remove my 200$ trip fee because the leak problem not fixed as emergency . They don't agree on that. So the technician who did the job did not do it properly. and the customer service also and try to fix the issue in the call. So I would not recommend them for any emergency work.

Joe and Bryant did a great job with my plumbing service today. They were friendly and professional. Highly recommend Baker Brothers for plumbing issues.

I called the office to explain that the prior tech who gave me the estimate told me clearly ""it's a lot of work and half a day"" when I questioned the estimate, and they just didn't care. I told them that I added up all my historical Baker Bros. Paid invoices over the last decade, including a new HVAC unit, a new Furnace, complete duct cleaning, new water heater tank, multiple plumbing repairs, additional parts and repairs and service work, plus the $9.95/month ""family plan"" I've paid for years, and it was just about $20,000, and I'd hope they'd have some loyalty to me as a very loyal customer and maybe they could revisit charging me almost $1,000 for 80 mins of labor replacing parts under warranty from a system they installed in 2017. They just didn't care. The guy told me ""it's a flat rate whether it's 30 mins or 8 hours."" I told him he's about to lose a customer for life, and asked him if that made any difference to him or not. He repeated ""it's a flat rate and nothing we can do about it."" Okay Baker Bros., you made your choice, and now I'll make mine to never use you again and I'll ensure that anyone that I ever bump into needing HVAC/Plumbing needs also hears my story so they can avoid getting overcharged too. I'll be canceling my monthly family plan as well. Maybe their owner or a caring manager that knows the cost of having to acquire new customers versus keeping existing loyal ones will call me back and attempt to rectify this situation, but I doubt it. Bye bye Baker Bros. You now have one less loyal customer and a bunch of negative posts in exchange for the $902 invoice I just paid to replace two parts in 80 mins. Hope it was worth it for y'all.

We are thankful to be on Baker Brothers family plan and have them as a knowledgeable, reliable and fake partner for our home systems. They were consultative and helpful with AC repairs and a full replacement, including interfacing with our insurance company in a very helpful manner. Thank you!!

As a HOA with an account with Baker Brothers, we were not treated as a priority and have important electrical repairs required by the City of Plano. Several appointments scheduled were rescheduled and not once did our Account Manager reach out with any concerns. we are now looking for a new electrical contractor who views us as a priority.

I used Baker Bros for an AC maintenance then a second visit for plumbing repairs. The first visit, the tech sold me the ""Family Plan"". it seemed reasonable to pay a monthly fee and get discounts. However, he failed to tell me at the time it was a 12 month contract and if cancelled before then, I would have to pay the full 12 months plus pay back any discounts. I also did not see the contract until after the fact and it was emailed to me. This is a VERY shady way of doing business, as I am in sales myself and do contracts. The service was great but I couldn't help but feel like I was trying to be sold items or new equipment outside the scope of work that I called BB for. it's VERY apparent this company works off a commission or quota hungry structure. I was quoted $2,400 after the 15% family plan discount for a water heater replacement. I shopped out the bid and did not tell the other companies what BB proposed for cost and ALL of them came around $1,700 for a new water heater installation. I moved forward with another vendor with a Bradford White tank. They did the new water heater install, installed new hardware in two toilet tanks and fixed two clogged sinks for $1,800! This would've cost me $3k with BB. Needless to say, the techs need to show the agreement before signing up a client so they understand the stipulations but also BB pricing seems to be price gouging.

About 25 years ago, Baker Brothers was hired by our insurance company to repair a clogged sewer line to our kitchen (slab foundation). Slab foundation, home built in the late 70's, cast iron pipe, sewer on septic system.
They claimed they couldn't reach the kitchen due to a foundation beam being in the way and said they would have to run a separate line outside of our home.
In 2011, that line plugged up. I had just spent a month in a coma at Baylor (car wreck and subsequent nerve damage that limited use of my right arm).
I called Baker Bros back out figuring they knew their previous work. I had pretty much identified where the clog was, I just couldn't get it broken loose.
And neither could the Baker Bros tech. I agreed to the call charge, and I agreed to the additional charge to scope the pipe and locate the blockage - almost $200.00. I told the tech I didn't agree with his location, but OK, paid the charge.
Tech wrote me quotes to dig to and fix the clog, or to replace the line (which they had previously replaced with PVC as noted above).
BTW - those quotes ranged from, as I recall - $1000 to dig down to and fix, or $2000 to replace the line and install ""better clean-outs"".
I subsequently spent a day digging to the point the tech identified, no clog. I moved over and dug where I figured the leak was - and found when they replaced the kitchen line years earlier - they used a straight ""T"" and standard 90' (not a sweep T and 90) to connect to the septic system. The T had a threaded ""branch"" and was capped (why the didn't use a riser, even though it really could not have been used to clear a clog is beyond me).
Unscrewing the cap from the T, I found a rock had lodged in the straight 90 just after the T. Pushed it with my finger, it rolled down the short pipe to the septic tank and dropped in.
Knowing it wouldn't be practical, I put a riser into the T as opposed to a cap.
We have recently had to have foundation work done, to include total cast iron piping under the house replaced. Interior piers were installed in the area where the previously mentioned foundation beam was supposed to be.
No beam.
In the plumbing replacement, our current plumbers will be tunneling to replace the Baker Bros installed kitchen sewer line outside of our house and will pipe that line as it was when the house was built (primarily because we will be adding an addition to home in the area where the Baker Bros installed line was run.
And now that our current plumbers have dug down to the connections to the septic tank - they have found mis-alignments between the house and septic tank entry - something that wasn't caused due to ground shift or home movement.
I wouldn't write this lengthy review if Baker Bros had done nothing more than split the cost of their original service call which I had called them to ask for such on 3 different occasions over a 6 month period - ""we'll get back with you"" is all I heard from them (note, the rock in the line was our fault as the risers installed by Baker Bros were rubber capped and over 10-12 years had come off. The risers and line are in a flower bed, and stuff falls in when the caps are missing).
I was told at one point that the straight T was so they could pressure test the line to pass inspection.
And now after seeing the connections to the septic tank exposed, I don't think any of the work was inspected as the methods used to make the connection does not meet code.
I cringe every time a Baker Bros commercial airs.
If you choose to use them, good luck!
