Company Overview

We provide new, dented, and refurbished appliance sales. Every item we sell comes with a comprehensive parts and labor warranty. Our services include both delivery and installation. We repair appliances in residences close to our location. You can also visit us for repairs, regardless of your location. Depending on your requirements, we offer certain parts for sale.

Our business previously operated under a different name in Canyon Lake, TX for nine years we chose to move nearer to Austin. In 2013, Jim, who is the Owner and President, bought a selection of appliances from Austin Appliance Connection as they shut down. He subsequently secured a larger space, leading to our current location in Buda, TX. Jim has always brought on two employees who were displaced by the earlier business shutdown. Austin Appliance aims to be a beloved local establishment while preserving a ""Mom & Pop"" vibe and avoiding the typical big box experience.

Buyer beware --DO NOT BUY ANYTHING FROM HERE! A gentleman identifying himself as ""Jim Vessells"" sold me an oven for $400 claiming that it only had a slight dent. Upon arrival, my tenant sent me multiple pictures that it was more than the ""slight dent"". Anyway, I let that go. What happened a little over a month later was that the oven power switch stopped working. I had made 6-7 phone calls to Jim (including multiple texts) earnestly requesting him for his attention to address the matter. I have no issues spending money on a product but I have a BIG ISSUE when there is no support on a big-ticket item. HE HAD NO ISSUES TAKING MY MONEY BUT NEVER RESPONDED TO MY REQUESTS TO RETURN MY CALLS OR STOOD BY HIS POST-SALES SUPPORT YOU'D OTHERWISE FIND IN REPUTABLE APPLIANCE SHOPS. Hence, out of 23 reviews (thus far) HERE, 14 are poor! Please protect your high-ticket investments and above all, DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY AT AUSTIN APPLIANCE!!!!!!!

I recently bought a fridge from the owner of this business, Jim Vessells. I paid him $900 for a nice Samsung counter depth fridge. From the beginning, it was never cooling down, then we noticed the lights would blink on and off, and the next day we found water underneath the fridge. However, I wasn't worried because I had been guaranteed a 6 month warranty by Jim. I call his phone number and the phone is disconnected. I try to give him the benefit of the doubt until I found the reviews of his business and instantly became worried that I had been screwed out of $900. I contacted Venmo and they told me that there is no buyer seller protection because no one should be selling goods via Venmo. At this point, I had to get ahold of him so I found out where his wife worked. I called her place of business and she gave me Jim's personal cell phone number #winning. As soon as I had his REAL number, he replied to every one of my texts. I don't think his wife knows he sells broken appliances and innocent people get screwed over. Anyway, he ended up refunding me and his Venmo got shut down for improper use. His reason for refunding me was ""I don't normally do refunds but this is a counter depth fridge so it'll sell fast."" Sad! After I got my money, I went down the street to Lowe's and bought a BRAND NEW black stainless LG French door fridge that connects to my WiFi. It's awesome. It was only $975. Don't waste your time with places like this! I gave two stars because I feel like I was one of the lucky ones who actually received a refund and for that, I am thankful.

I'll join the long list of customers who have been duped by this guy. He sells broken - not dinged, dented, or used - BROKEN appliances. He'll then claim to have ordered a part or some other excuse and then he will disappear completely.

I bought a washer and dryer. The dryer shuts off after 10 seconds due to a faulty heat sensor. He brought me a ""replacement"" dryer that screeches metal on metal as it runs. We haven't had a properly working dryer in nearly two months of steady phone calls and texts trying to get it fixed. At this point, I have to go out of pocket again to have someone reputable make the repair.

I wish I would have seen the reviews before I did business with him via Craigslist but he's good at changing phone numbers and classifying his company as ""out of business"" as a way to avoid the bad reviews or being delisted from Craigslist.

Please avoid at all costs! The guy is a criminal and should not be in business.

Sold me a broken refrigerator, via an ad on craigslist. After he tried to fix it twice unsuccessfully (with my having to buy ice every day b/c the fridge didn't work), I asked for a refund, but then he just disappeared.

He doesn't put his business name in his craigslist ads, probably because his reputation is so bad, but then he shows up with an ""Austin Appliance"" truck. It's the same guy depicted in one of the other reviews here.

This listing keeps getting changed to ""Out of Business"", though he's clearly still in business, just under the radar. It's either getting changed to Out of Business because he keeps changing phone numbers, or else he's falsely telling Yelp himself that he's out of business, to prevent people from leaving more negative reviews.

Terrible. Yep I concur Jimmy Vessells did my deal very wrong. He advertised a one year old fridge for $750 with a 90 parts and labor warranty. After the purchase the fridge broke after one day, maytag confirmed this model to be 7 years old and Jimmey Vessells never returned my calls. He advertises on craigslist now out of Allred Drive address. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH!!

After moving to a brand new home, I needed a washer and gas dryer but didn't have any budget left! These guys made the effort to open on Saturday morning to meet me and I found a set that fit my budget.

They work hard to do the right thing, in my opinion. It's not a showroom with regular hours and they operate by appointment. Text or call and leave a message and you get a response almost immediately.

We got off on a bit of a rocky start when the units were delivered because the installer didn't have all the parts he needed but, thankfully he only had a 10 minute drive to the shop...which he unfortunately had to do twice.

I see the other reviews here and I can't help but say...these are USED appliances...scratch and dent or refurbished. There may be a need to clean them up, even after they are delivered...and after every use, since that should be normal anyway. They are not showroom new and that's not what I paid for...I couldn't afford it so I went to these guys instead.

I am happy with the units, everything works as intended. I am keeping an eye on the dryer because I see the interior gasket is coming loose. It will need to be replaced but I'm thinking it cannot be. For that I will call Austin Appliances, not bash them here for somehow doing this to me on purpose!

I think they are a legit business and do their level best to provide folks like me with affordable appliances. I don't think they operate with malice, or have any intentions of scamming anyone...like anything else used or refurbished, things can go wrong...I am hoping they will honor their warranty and will continue to give them the benefit of the doubt.

Not even going to rate. Had a service call set up and never showed up. Called to see where they were and was never on the books. Appt confirmed 2 days ago. Never called me back to explain what happened and why they did not show up. All I received was a text message asking to reschedule for tomorrow. Seriously??? Not the way to do business.

Jim is a CROOKE!! I was promised a 30 day parts and labor on my new/used Fridge and did not receive it. My Ice Maker does not work and I have an internal Water leak. I would rate a ""0"" if I could, the guy is a POS! Steer clear of this LYING good for nothing swindler!
