So our bill started to go up, we reached out to them to see if we could get someone to come down to check out our panels and system. They told us because our system was older and they don't carry those readers anymore that we had to install a new one just to diagnose it seemed kinda fishy to me. It would make sense that because they installed it they would be able to read it, and if it needed an update at least let us know when ours was becoming obsolete so we can keep everything up to date so there's no surprises. It's just a lack of customer service.
Go to a proven company that's our biggest regret.

The worst customer service ever! From the get go-you are connected to a rude mainlander who ""can't quote prices."" Then an electrician comes out for 10 minutes just checks to see if I have a flow of electricity to my water heater. ""Nothing he can do cause it's not an electrical issue."" Tells me that there's no charge cause he didn't do anything. Then 2 weeks later I get harassing emails stating that I owe $200 plus. I explained my situation and the response was that the electrician never told me that there was no charge (so pretty much calling me a liar). Do not use them---shop around-read reviews on here and book a company that handles their business with professionalism and compassion.

Professionalism of this company is outstanding. Needed some work on my solar panels and unit. There was delay in the project due to rain but Brandi kept me updated and as soon as the weather was appropriate, the techs came out and did the work. Great company!!!

Great Photovoltaic service! They installed our system several years ago. Just had a significant issue affecting 17 of our 40 microinverters and they had a technician here the first working day. Replaced the failed parts the next day, in the Olivia rain, and we're 100% again. We chose them because they're very competent, a big operation and here to stay. Highly recommended. I had American Electric install my PV system in 2012 and chose them because they were a local company that has been in business in Hawaii a long time. I had no problems with my PV system until this year when I discovered one of my panel/micro inverter went bad. The office staff were very friendly and helpful however the maintenance crew that was sent to change my micro inverter did a poor job. Let just say most home owners do not go on their roofs to inspect the work being done and usually trust and leave it up to the professionals. However upon inspection I noticed several of my panels were loose because the clips were not re-secured properly and with Hurricane Hector on the way the outcome would have been catastrophic. Needless to say the company made it right by having the maintenance crew return the next day to correct the problem. The saying goes, ""Let the buyer beware"". As a home or business owner, you need to keep tabs of everything a company works on your property. Honesty, trust, and integrity is hard to come by these days.

American Electric executes great service and provides a great customer experience. AE has been around for nearly 70 years. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!! Don't hesitate. Most companies performing electrical service in Hawaii, PV specifically, probably have been in business in Hawaii for less than 5 - 10 years. You want to do business with a company that you can depend on.

A few months ago I had a worker from American Electric put in some outlets. The worker made a mistake finding the stud on one of them and made a few small holes in the wall. He explained having trouble finding it with no apology. Didn't offer to fix the holes.

So I fill out a request for service from their webpage. They ask what department, what the problem is, etc. I get a call from a Scott Maihofer. He was very rude. Asking me what I want, etc. Said he would follow up and send an estimator. He never did. I wouldn't do business with this clown.
