I had a television lift installed a custom cabinet. The lift froze up and would not budge. Matt took out the old lift and reinstalled a new lift in the same custom cabinet. He also installed a new television in the lift and got a great price for me. It was a very difficult project not to damage the existing cabinet. Just had American AV installers Hector and Cristian here to install a 55"" tv on the wall and a purchased the Polk 9500BT sound bar and installion from American AV. Matt, the owner gave me a great pre installation consultation to discuss my TV installation vision and provided me several recommendations for sound bars and wall mounts. Today's, it all came together better then I envisioned and the final product looks and sounds amazing. Both Hector and Cristian were on time, extremely professional, organized and worked very clean. I would absolutely use them for any other installation needs and highly recommend them to anyone with home installation needs.

We had previously used this company, and that time we were satisfied so called them again to help us get out system back and up and running like it should. We switch to AT&T and nothing work correctly after they left. We had them back but said the problem was with the surround sound and they don't reconnect that. American AV was supposed to fix the surround sound, but didn't. They told us our CD player had burnt out--we have only used it about 10 times so couldn't understand why it would be burnt out and we told them that. The remote control wouldn't work on the main TV where all our components are, and they were supposed to fix that. We did not want this company back in the house,
as they said they fixed our problems except for the CD player and we would have to buy a new CD player, so we called out another company. They found out that the CD player wasn't even connected and one of the speaker wires in the attic was disconnected. The Universal remote had not been programed. I am so glad we called another company and one that is able to fix things!!!

Please note-
Since this review was posted, we have received a refund for the charges American Audio/visual charged for their visit to our home. The owner Matt Driver wrote a letter saying that after reading my entry on Yelp he talked to Hector about our complains. I appreciate that he not only took the time to recognize our concerns, but he returned our money that we paid for the visit. Thank you Matt for taking the time to write a letter and address our problem.

This review is for a 60 inch LED TV install over a fireplace on 10/31/14. The two stars is for the experience, not their work, which was satisfactory. Wires are hidden in the wall, the TV is centered and balanced.

Bought a new TV from Best Buy on a Thursday and because I needed the TV installed before we had guests over Sunday, decided to go with a third party installer rather than wait the 7 days it would be before Geek Squad could pencil me in. Went with Called American A/V because they were the only one out of 4 installers I called Friday morning and that could squeeze me in that day. Earned two stars just for that.

They gave me an install range of 1-5, but I explained to Matt (the DIrector Of Operations) that I wouldn't be able to get home until 3-ish, so he revised my appointment to a 3-5 window. By 2:50 PM I was getting calls from the install crew that they were at my place and waiting on me as they had later appointments. I let them know I was on my home from a meeting in downtown SD and would be there by 3:30, but that if they couldn't wait, I would just reschedule. They said it was ""fine"" and they'd wait.

The crew, was in my house and unboxing the TV by 3:30. They were done by 4 p.m. I asked them to program my DirectTV remote so that I could turn the TV and adjust volume with it. He said my remote was the ""new"" model and he hadn't received training to program it. Not a big deal as I could google instructions and do it myself, but it was his ""not my problem"" demeanor (in a service position) that made me cringe. They left dry wall shavings from when they drilled my mount on my floor without mentioning it or offering to clean it up. It was Friday afternoon and they wanted to get the hell out of there. I can relate, but it led to me having a 2-out-of-5-star experience.

The price: it started at $245 which is within the average range for an install over a fireplace, but they charged me $40 for an HDMI cord and another $95 for a power plug that they installed into my wall. The power plug then plugged into my standard surge protector and to this day I'm still not sure why it was needed, but they insisted. So the total was $375. I tried to pay with my debit card as Matt had confirmed that they take card, but the worker said they couldn't take it because their office was closed... It was 4 p.m. Confused, i let him know that was the only way I was going to pay and we stood there in awkward silence for about 30 seconds. Finally, he then called somebody and I gave her my information over the phone and she emailed me an invoice receipt. Was a bizarre transaction.

Overall, I'd recommend going with Geek Squad, as if anything happens to the TV relating to the work (i.e. it falls in an earthquake or something) they will replace the TV. No TV installer I found had that guarantee, and only would handle work issues (like if a screw came loose on the mount or you realized it wasn't level).
