After serving as a US Marine, Melvin pursued plumbing and HVAC training at a technical school in Arizona. Upon completing his education, Melvin worked for a reputable plumbing company in the Phoenix area. After moving to Georgia and gaining experience with different plumbing businesses, he recognized that none matched the operational standards of the Arizona firm.

In 2003, Melvin and his wife Melissa, both veterans, founded Allgood Plumbing, driven by the belief in treating people as they would like to be treated, a principle that continues to guide Allgood.

In 2013, Allgood Plumbing added electrical services and technicians, evolving into Allgood Plumbing and Electric. The company has continued to grow, adding HVAC services in January 2016 at the request of many loyal customers.

Our 4 year old Rheem tankless water heater thermostat kept disconnecting and turning off and on leaving us without hot water, so we called Allgood based on their Yelp reviews. Allgood was very responsive. When James and his apprentice came to check our system, they seemed to be knowledgeable about our problem. After spending a few hours and nearly $500, they serviced our water heater and left. Shortly after leaving, our thermostat disconnected again.

I called Allgood again and James came back the next day. James said that the error code 13 related to the flame burners and he would clean them again, even though they had been cleaned the day before. The repair still did not work, so James suggested that we buy a new replacement unit, but they did not recommend replacing it with another Rheem ($688 at Home Depot). Instead, they suggested a Rinnai replacement that would cost around $2,800, but they would subtract the $500 repair fee charge from the total.

We have no hot water after spending $500. We were told that Rheem water heaters suck, but Allgood was not able to repair the problem after spending so much money. If Allgood can't repair Rheem hot water heaters, they should not respond to Rheem service calls.

Plus 5 stars for responsiveness (they had someone at my house about 30 minutes after my early morning call), ease of dealing with them, and timing of work (they had all of the work done in around 2 hours). Minus 3 stars for price. I was charged ~$1,400 for a 50 gallon hot water heater replacement, which included a line item for a $240 extra charge for the heater being located in the ""attic/basement/crawl-space"". Really? Where do you put a hot water heater if it is not in the attic, basement, or crawl-space?

After discovering that my water heater had expired and flooded my basement, I went online to locate a good plumber, but what I ended up with was an excellent plumber! Tom showed up quickly the same day I called, explained that my water heater needed to be replaced, and expertly described my options for replacement. Based on recommendations, costs, and timelines, I decided to replace the water heater with a tankless water heater. Tom was able to get a temporary fix for my hot water situation that day, and then returned the next day to patiently spend 10 hours installing the new tankless water heater. I have been very happy ever since! Tom was extremely knowledgeable and took extreme care during the installation. He also addressed other plumbing concerns that I had, and I will definitely be using Allgood's services again. Very professional in knowledge & presentation! You can't go wrong!

I just had some electrical work done by Allgood. They sent a licensed electrician and an apprentice. After taking at least fifteen minutes on a tablet to figure out pricing for a relatively simple job, they presented me with three options. All were exorbitant. I finally was able to negotiate a price which was down to double what it should have been. Because I needed to get this done within a narrow timeframe, I paid the price. However, in spite of the good work and very courteous technicians, I cannot recommend this company. Their pricing is beyond outrageous, but that's why there's the adage, ""Buyer Beware"".

So far as I am concerned, this company is all bad.
I had a very bad experience with this company. Allbad charged $579.00 to install a ceiling fan that cost $70. (After several calls, they took off $191 because the company had a coupon on its own site for $89 installation, even though the company originally charged $270 for the installation. The remainder of this exorbitant charge -- $309 --was to install a fan brace box, which William, the owner or manager, refused to budge on). I would never have agreed to this charge, and, in fact, I did not agree to it. A family member who was very ill was staying at my house at the time. I was not home. She called Allbad. They told her that my house could go up in flames if she didn't fix the fan right away. She fell for the scare tactic, high-pressure sales pitch. So, the family member, who is cognitively impaired, signed the estimate and paid for it -- with my credit card. The company never asked for proof of ownership or proof that the card was hers. This may be a very unusual situation, in that the homeowner was not home and did not authorize the charge. I do not know how often this may come up; maybe a lot. But the bottom line is that they charged a very exorbitant price to install a ceiling fan, and they had to know it was outrageous. The typical price to install a ceiling fan in Atlanta ranges between $140-$190. It feels to me like someone tried to scare an impaired, older woman into spending three times what it cost to replace a ceiling fan.
In addition, when I called the company to try negotiate a better price, William was not customer-oriented. He said that he was listening to me but that I was not listening to him and hearing his side of the story. I knew his side of the story: I had a copy of the receipt to show the outrageous price he charged. He started telling me how much it costs to run a business ...sob, sob, sob...as if I am a dummy ( I am a woman, after all) and know nothing about prices and the costs of doing business -- or of owning a home.
The saddest part of all this is that the overcharge could have been used to help my family member.
To repeat: not only was the charge exorbitant, but Allbad company manager/owner William was inflexible and rude. In addition, he refused to return several follow-up phone calls. I just called again and was told to send him an email. After dealing with this company for nearly five weeks, I decided to post a review instead. I have given up on the company yielding to my pleas for a fair price. I was hoping that I could negotiate a fair price of, say, $200. I of course want to pay for work that was performed, but I don't even think neurosurgeons make $579 an hour, which is what the charge came to. Even dropping it to $400 is outrageous.
While Allbad may receive business for being veteran-owned or operated, I think people should know that it is kindness-impaired, gender-insensitive and most likely age-ist as well. I appreciate the service to our country that someone in the business gave, but I do not appreciate the poor service and exploitation that the company showed to my family.

Allgood comes to grandparents house and says water pressure coming into house is too high...$350+ to replace valve. Comes to my house the next week and says the same thing to me...90. I have another plumber come out and he tests the pressure and says it's only 65...also quotes me $100 less on same job. I will NEVER use Allgood

I recently contacted Allgood Plumbing to provide labor only to replace two master bathroom faucets (I purchased the 8"" on center spacing faucets) and to repair/replace a one foot piece of surface wall mounted 1/2"" copper pipe in my garage which froze and split this past winter. I was shocked when the plumber quoted me on-site a cost of over $800.00. When I challenged the plumber on the reason for the cost - trying to identify why over $800 dollars - cost of labor? number of hours? etc? - the response I received was simply we do the work by the ""piece"". Without going into more of the horrid details and unethical approach Allgood offered to me (including denial of my request to get a supervisor/manager involved from their office), I finally asked the plumber to leave my home. At which time, I was requested to write a check for $39.00 for the ""service call"". It was not a service call - it was an outrageous estimate and an opportunity they felt to take advantage of what they considered an uneducated home owner. What they under estimated was the fact that I have been in the commercial construction industry for over 30 years.

My message/post today is to make buyers beware of Allgoods tactics and what I consider ""taking advantage of uneducated home owners"" who might feel they need to pay such a ridiculous price for a simple plumbing installation. Make sure you look to more ethical companies or at a minimum, get a second quote beyond Allgood Plumbing estimates before you hire them. This is one customer that did not hire them nor would anytime in the future.

I installed new granite kitchen counters and needed Allgood to install a fancy new touch-free faucet, soap dispenser and garbage disposal. I also need to have faucet leaks fixed in both sinks in the master bathroom.

First, Mike, my customer service rep was awesome. We scheduled for the work to be done the morning after the granite installation. However, the granite was delayed to Friday so we had to reschedule for Saturday morning, Memorial Day weekend. Mike was extremely pleasant and efficient and quickly was able to accommodate the change in plan.

Daniel, the technician, arrived as scheduled, first thing Saturday morning. He was clean-cut, well-spoken and sharply dressed. (He also matched the picture Allgood emailed me.) He carefully listened as I described the scope of work and carefully planned his approach. It was complicated because 1) the new faucet was very sophisticated, 2) the garbage disposal had a different installation than standard, and 3) because the new sink is significantly deeper than the old sink, he had to completely reconfigure the drains/p-trap/vent.

After carefully evaluating the job, Daniel presented the estimate. I have to say, we were a little shocked at the cost. It was about twice as high as we expected (although I am certainly not a plumbing estimator). I understood it was a complicated job, but it still seemed high. True, he had to go out and pick up some PVC for the drains and four cartridges for the bathroom faucets, but the parts could not have cost more than $200. Subtracting those materials out of the total price, and dividing by the time he actually took (including the parts run and, I assume, lunch), it came out to $300 per hour. Maybe that's the going rate; I don't know. But, what were we going to do. We had company coming and HAD to have the work done. So we signed off on the estimate.

Daniel got right to work and diligently got the work done. He was a very pleasant young man and obviously very knowledgeable and well-trained. He very carefully arranged the area under the sink to minimize clutter and maximize convenience. He checked and double checked that everything worked as it should had that there were no leaks. He cleaned up after himself.

So, Overall I give Allgood an A. The price thing is partially my own fault for not educating myself better before the appointment.

Pricing makes me sick. Mark B. performed service on 4/23. He was personable and professional. And I was in a bind, which was the ONLY reason I had him complete the service: cut and cap 2 3/4"" copper water feeds and cap a shower drain. The entire job took 1 hour including the trip to Ace Hardware to get the shower drain cap = $640. Yes, you read that right. All pipes and drain were completely exposed.
