i called around town 8 electric companies to have 3 wall time switched to be installed. No one over the phone wou not want to give me a rough estimate "" Oh we have to come out to your house first "" yada yada sales money makin pitch . I called Allstar they gave me a rough "" fair""estimate
and completed the job. And to add The technician did not try to sell me a generator orTesla.
Very honest company I would gladly refer to a family member especially granny.
(3.5 rounded up)
Unfortunately, I have to update my review and drop a star because previously I said I liked my whole interaction with them from the beginning to end.
I still would recommend this company, but with the caveat that the scheduling for estimates and for actual work can be very frustrating and also might average two weeks out for each... If you have the time to be flexible and patient to go through the process just to get estimates or work done, then yes call them. But I've had to find other electricians since my last review even though I was a loyal repeat customer for a few years.
Waiting on a detailed invoice from this company. The initial visit of the site was good and employees were friendly.
I needed someone to fix the breaker for my dryer. I had other companies give me a quote for thousands of dollars to replace the whole box...wouldn't even consider just replacing a breaker. Granted it is an old system, but there are substitute replacements. Got the job done for under $200! Very pleased. I have found my electrical repair company!!!!
I had 2 ceiling fans installed when the technician finish one pole turned out to be longer than the other down rod. The ceiling fans were side by side so of course it was very noticeable. When the technician told me he was finished I came to see the finished product and I ask him is one hanging lower than the other one he told me yes it appears one of the downrods had been cut. As you can imagine... say what??? So why didn't you tell me before you completed the job. Ok so I called the company All star Electric and told them what happened and ask them can they give me a break on sending someone else out to correct the job and maybe charge me half the price I already paid. Her response well the technician did nothing wrong... no but he should have told me before he completed the job a blind man could see the difference in the lengths. Then she went on to say for me to call Lowe's since I purchased them through Lowe's and set up the installation through them. That is another long story in itself. Needless to say I did not call Lowe's it wasn't their issue. I called another company to come out and cut the pole and reinstall the fan which cost me more money. I would not recommend Allstar electric because they don't stand behind their work they want to pass the buck. Very dissatisfied with my installation project.
Response from the owner 6 hours ago
Cheryl, we are very confused by this review. You provided both the fans and one down rod. One of your existing fans that was being replaced had the other down rod you wanted us to reuse. The technician showed you that the existing fan had a down rod that was cut prior to us installing anything, but as you said in your review, a blind man could see from the ground that the down rods were very different lengths. You could absolutely see that the down rod you provided was much longer than the existing down rod you asked us to reuse prior to the installation. I could understand if they were a couple inches difference, but we are talking a massive difference in length that would be known well prior to any installation. After the install was complete, you decided you didn't like that they were different lengths, which we understand as it does look a bit silly, but we just did the installation you asked us to do. After the installation, we said you would need to talk with Lowe's because you provided all the material and provided it from Lowe's. You needed to provide another down rod that would match the other down rod installed. You wanted us to cut the down rod that you provided for the other fan. Sorry this is not something we are going to modify. Those are threaded conduits with precision drilled holes to allow the fan to be securely mounted. We are not going to cut the threads off, then try and redrill the rod hoping that it holds up your fan for years down the road. If that down rod was to ever fail in the future, and the fan was to fall and damage your home or hurt someone, you'd turn right around and want to sue us over it. We are sorry that you are dissatisfied, but you had unrealistic expectations. When you supply all parts for an installation, if there is a problem with one of the parts, you will need to get the correct part or be prepared to pay the installation company to go get the correct part for you. You wanted to do neither of those things, so there wasn't much we could do to help you from that point. We would highly recommend that you do not let another another company cut the down rod. You are just asking for your fan to fall some day. If it does fall from the height you have it mounted at, it will definitely do damage to property or people. It is much safer to get another down rod for the other fan so the two down rods match. We wish you well and hope you have a good day. If you do decide to get the correct down rod and would like us to install it for you, we would do so at no additional cost to you.
I have to respond to the owner. I called his company immediately after John left and I spoke with Kelly I believe her name was. I explained to her the situation, and ask her could i schedule someone to come out and fix it for maybe half the cost. I was not trying to get anything for free. She told me to take it up with Lowe's since I hired them when I purchased the merchandise . The owner listed a whole slew of things in his response that I feel we're not even the issues.
If John lied to him and told him that he bought it to my attention that's not true. he did not say a word until I ask him were they different lengths.
Kelly wasn't trying to help me at all she was telling me the technician did nothing wrong, when I started my conversation with her I told her it was not his fault but he should have told me when he noticed they were not the same size.I am more dissatisfied with this company now because they have lied and put it in writing. unfortunately for my pocket book I hired another company to come out and fix it they cut the pole its all good now.
Great business! One of the few electricians willing to be transparent with their pricing for services and not waste your time by requiring an in-person meeting just to give you an estimate.
I needed a new 240/60amp service panel for our new therapy spa. I got serval quotes from ASE and other vendors. ASE was the most detailed quote so I knew exactly what was included. Their prices were also within my budget.
The team arrived on time, was very pleasant to work with, and provided answers to questions all throughout the installation. They were very conscious of the anthesis of the installation making it look as unintrusive as possible.
You can't go wrong hiring this company.
Awful customer service.
I'm a real-estate investor and small business owner that build a #1 selling product on Amazon in our product category. I did this by building a great product and, more importantly, treating every customer with dignity and respect. Unfortunately, you won't get this at All Star Electric San Antonio (SA).
I called for a free estimate on some straight-forward electrical repairs for one of my rentals. Having done real estate for 10+ years, I know most good contractors provide a rough estimate but also politely caution against a final rate until they see the property. Other good contractors will just go over and provide a free estimate during a free consultation. At All Star Electric, they find every excuse why they cannot provide rough estimates, even when they advertise providing free estimates. Big-box stores like Home Depot even provide rough estimates to customers for contractual work they facilitate.
The experience was even more unpleasant by the condescending tone of the associate providing the (non) estimate. I asked for a simple breakdown of their various fees, and I received terse responses presuming that the fees, and their meanings, were self-evident in relation to the potential work. I even calmly repeated back the information to confirm my understanding, and that was met with brusque remarks about word choice and semantics. I had to politely let the associate know I appreciate their expertise, but they cannot assume that customers are experts in electrical billing.
Rather than let the associate know how rude she was, I decided to politely just confirm I had a good callback number and right business location. Her brusque response was that All Star Electric is the only one. It's unfortunate that the associate does not realize how common their name is and how their business can NOT be found unless you type in the long name exactly.
I understand that people have bad days, and there is always a difficult employee that can't see they are the biggest impediment to their own progress as a professional, due to their lack of humility and self-reflection. It's also possible that the techs at All Star Electric SA may be exceptional, as well as other associates. However, when the customer service is this bad, and you can't get a simple advertised service, it's likely the company has a high attrition rate and poor training.
I took my business elsewhere and am glad that I did. Every other contractor that I spoke with this week was courteous, patient, and offered more affordable and transparent rates, to boot, with no friction in scheduling a site visit. And yes, they even gave me a free estimate.
Called with a couple of issues..they talked me through some troubleshooting methods which resulted in a money saving self fix. Very rare to find such upfront honesty nowadays .Will definitely call them for any future issues.
Excellent service as usual, Adan went above and beyond to get us scheduled on short notice so I could proceed getting my gas range and range hood installed. Chris arrived on time, was very pleasant and easy to talk to about the work and in general. He has exceptional attention to detail and completed the job as if he were working on his own home which is rare these days in most of the trades. I highly recommend All Star Electric for all your electrician needs, really great crew at a fair price.
